JZStudios Actually for me the first one had qte's that were rather punishing on the timing, and also on the center which took my focus from what was going on, but 3 I'm did it better with the white flashes on side to help the player with which button while not taking their attention from what's happening

True. I'm interested to know if they really did remove the QTE's and what the workaround could be. I'll be REALLY disappointed if you kill a big boss and it just cuts to cutscene or it slumps down on the floor. I think GOW was one of the few games where QTE's make sense, specifically the button mashing.

JZStudios I don't think they removed QTE's The troll battle during the reveal presentation at e3 2016 looked like the camera work for qte's.... Could be wrong but I hope not

Because not all creative directors have an engaging personality....in the gaming interview world, Cory, Michel Ancel and Ashraf Ismail really look like they enjoy their work and have put a part of their soul into the game....like until I look it up, I have no idea who is in charge of AC Odyssey

@@russellmasc As a long-time fan of the AC franchise, the director of the games changes again and again, which is why the game has lost its soul and consistency. Don't get me wrong, I still like the games, but the early games were at least done with passion. Wish there were more people like Cory in the industry who push their ideas forward. So it's also normal that people just don't get to see the director of games like AC Odyssey the way they see Cory, because the game and franchise doesn't reflect the vision of the director.

And actually, if you spend time searching, especially on Twitter, you'll find that Ody's dev team are actually more fired up and enthusiastic about this game than prior ones. @@FraserSouris Not really. The way they handled the Isu and the Animus alone is inconsistent as hell, two major parts of the franchise. The Marvel movies, throughout the whole franchise, have the same tone, which cannot be said about the AC games. AC1-AC3 are consistent in tone. AC4 still works but is drifting apart. AC Unity goes more the vanilla/cookie cutter formula direction, which Syndicate then totally adopts. AC Origins then tries jumping back to the early ways of doing it, but entirely fails in conveying the same soul as the early AC games when it comes to the First Civilisation, the artefacts, and the vaults. Heck, there's a giant vault in the desert and nobody even cares, and when Bayek visits it, there's not a single element of surprise. Odyssey from what I played so far is close to Origins. Since Origins the game is also much more of a classic fantasy RPG, with beasts and gods appearing, actual magic that has no clear ties to the Isu, etc., whereas before the only "magic" was just technology that they didn't understand first. Entirely different than the early ACs. The new games are also way more combat focused, whereas the early games were clearly stealth games with some combat elements. The newer games have basically cut their ties with respect to the present day story as well, merely inserting cameos of William Miles, but hardly even touching the conflict against Abstergo. There are so many more things which just don't work with the franchise as a whole and make it very inconsistent. They kept firing members of the original team again and again, until at some point it stopped being what it was. Don't get me wrong, I like Odyssey, it's a really fun game, and they've done a lot of great things. I love the customisability (though I wished for more of the simple stuff, like changing hair, and overall appearance), I like the ships, I like the land you're exploring. But it's just not an AC game any more, and it has within itself a lot of direction issues (such as the horribly placed flashback scenes in the beginning of the game, just in the middle of a conversation). It's a great game still. But as a whole franchise, it's inconsistent and contradicts itself since AC Unity.

@@Jotakumon The franchise has always handled The animus and Isu in a weird way as they went on. Especially with regards to how much control the players have when canonically, the animus should just be glorified quick time events. AC1 was the closest to that and even it ignored parts of it. And even if we say Unity to Ody are significantly different, remember, in video games, Lore serves the mechanics, not the other way around. The developers of the Metro Games, despite being adapatations of the books, let you fundamentally change the story in a way that would have hurt future books because they said that the game experience is more important than a blind clinging to lore. The Marvel Films do not all have the same tone. Winter Soldier harkens back 1960's Spy Films. Ant-Man is a pretty serious Spy Film. Guardians of the Galaxy is lighthearted as can be. The Incredible Hulk is brutal in how it depicts its characters. Infinity War is nothing like the first Avengers in terms of tone. Tone-wise AC1 and 3 compared to 2 and Bro is night and day. AC1 and 3 were very character focused with a lot of subtext permeating the story and characters as well as being very serious and not afraid of showing darkness and greyness. AC2 and Bro ditched that in favour of being so lightheared and "cool" LudoCriticism goes into more detail kzread.info/dash/bejne/anh-0tece6-pnMo.html Unity tries to channel AC1 and 3 in tone. AC2 and Bro often glossed over the logistics and implications of the much of the world they were pointing out. Entirely different than the early ACs." Almost every franchise that's a sci-fi/fantasy hybrid has done that. " The Early games weren't proper stealth games. They were action-adventure titles with stealth and combat as add-ons rather than as a major way of truly interacting with the world. Stealth was often situational and scripted rather than freeform and present. And the combat of those games extremely simplistic. As a pretty simple example, you couldn't crouch or use cover or manipulate the guards AI or creatively bypass obstacles. That's not a stealth game. That's a game that lets you sneak around. Stealth in early AC games is hardly more complicated or engaging than Uncharted's stealth. The newer games changed this. Stealth now has ways to operate in a wider amount of contexts rather as an add-on. Unity for instance, incorporated multiple ways of sneaking into an area, with proper stealth movement and controls that modify actions, ways to disguise yourself and manipulate guards AI. Origins and Ody have their own version of this with how you can sneak through bases and locations in more interesting ways than before. And that's in addition to a combat system that actually has the player making interesting descions. >"There are so many more things which just don't work with the franchise as a whole and make it very inconsistent. You failed to see where the stealth element of the games was improved, or how much Ezio's games were nothing like Altair or Connor's games. Here's the thing, Unity to Ody are still AC Games. They carry the same core gameplay mix (Parkour, stealth, combat) and the same focus on historical travel and made them significantly better. The franchise has reached a point where individual facets can now carry it rather than the sum of its parts. For example, Origins takes the time, with proper side quests, to explore the characters, locations, world and culture of the world. AC1-Rev had nothing close to that. Its side quests were at most, a way to make Ezio look cool. Seriously, Origins give you quests where you see how crocodiles are revered, how people see the poets and philosphers and more. It's great quest design.

I lost it at the "Yattaaa!" By far best video of Game Informer!

This is one of the best videos that generated hype for me before it was released. I hope they do a sequel to this video for GOW: Ragnarok. Cory Barlog is one of my favorite game devs.

Not quite sure what you mean by a smart phone complex, but you shouldn't be so afraid of change. Don't get me wrong, there's nothing wrong with wanting the old style to stay. But you'll have to understand that what you want would make the series boring and would prevent it from improving.

I HATE change! Especially when they try to change something that is exceptionally good already : / Smartphone complex is something like the atomic shelter complex described in a short story entitled "Foster, You're Dead!" written by P. K. Dick. New models of smartphones appear one after another and many people are obsessed with getting those newest. Kids watch adults going crazy about those smartphones and start going crazy themselves. It wasn't so 25 years ago. Well, some would go crazy about new PCs but that was uncomparable to current figures and smartphone related obsessions. This kind of thinking applies to games also, apparently. New character, new setting, new, new, new! I detest such approach. GoW could be improved a lot without changing that many elements.

Mr. Sadist I think that could mean Hercules was immortal but any immortal God can only get killed by another God or a Demi God so the other beasts throughout the series couldn't have killed Kratos or Hercules but they could've inflicted some serious damage... Or there's more to it lol hopefully

Love how he asked if Atreus was made from a mini game as some may know Aphrodite and kratos got a lil messy in a past GOW game and it was a mini game of them doing you know what, so that was kinda funny (I’m just watching this video again cause I loved his answerers)
