JD only said that he's "lefty" in one reality of the "butterfly effect" episode to cover his embarrassment when he didn't catch a pen. However in the second reality of the same butterfly episode he didn't catch a pen again and said that he is "righty". So we don't actually know which one is real

This is the only sitcom that I have ever watched in my life where I would often find myself crying with laughter and then just plain crying. From one moment to the next, it could truly pack an emotional punch. I suppose that this would best be put down to great writing, because I don't know what else it would be to which it could be ascribed, and whence then came all of the emotional resonance on display in so many episodes. Good job, Sam...if, indeed, that is your real name!

1: He's been confirmed to not be imaginary. He was supposed to be; that's why you only see him interact with J.D. in really early episodes, but Neil was so good they made him a real character. 2: The Janitor interacts with far too many people to be imaginary. It's the same flaw that the "Rugrats Babies were all in Angelica's Head" fan theory falls into. He also interacts with them when J.D. isn't around.

Good point. Also talking about Sarah Chalk And the narrator talks about Donald Faison, Zach Braff and Sarah goes skinny dipping, Sarah keeps her bikini on just like Elliott Reed would have in the series. Elliott would have never skinny dipped.

Actually, "Die Anfänger" is just a subtitle here in Germany. It's "Scrubs - Die Anfänger". But no one here calls it "Die Anfänger" or would immediately know what you're talking about, if you referred to the show like that. Just say Scrubs.

Neil Flynn appeared in all but 1 episode in season 1. He filmed for the whole season, but was edited out of 1 episode so he could be classified as a guest-star rather than a full cast member.

Ted did get his name in the first season. Dr. Kelso calls him Tad and he quickly corrects him and says his name is Ted.

Maybe you correct this later, but most fans no season 9 was not Bill Lawrence's choice. He is even on record stating that he considers it a spin off instead of another season.

Basicly is S09 a Spin off. It's called "Scrubs - Med School" But international it is promoted as 9th Season. For me is the finale from Season 8 THE FINALY! It's so good so emotional

Never heard him say it wasn't his choice, quite the opposite, he chose to do the season because it kept people in a job (camera crew and all the other staff primarily) in the middle of a recession when they had nowhere else to turn for work.

2001. Wow nineteen years ago. Time flies.

In an early episode JD has a fantasy of the Grim reaper "hanging out" at the hospital, having a rather relaxed personality. That's why he shows up in the finale.

So when Elliot spills her coffee. She doesn’t look at the janitor directly. She could be saying “sorry” in a sarcastic way to Turk for “Annoying him” keeping the illusion the janitor is in JDs head alive, I this season.

The one about "My Musical" is wrong. For most of the episode she's standing still, leaning on stuff or sitting. Her dance was filmed weeks later, once she'd healed a bit more.

I loved this show. Thanks for creating a video about it. It was a show that had you laughing so hard you were crying one second, and then just plain crying the next. It had a ton of heart. The podcast is really really good if anyone is interested.

There’s another clue to the twist about Bens death. In the scene where Elliot is talking to Cox and Ben is moving her like a puppet; there is a sign behind Ben saying “Pay Attention” and Elliot doesn’t react to Ben because she can’t see him

Bill Lawrence also wrote Spin City with Michael J. Fox who appeared as a guest star in Scrubs. And yes should have stopped after season 8 as Season 9 is crap. Also Murphy's Law is named after an American test pilot who was the first to break the sound barrier, originally it is known and still is in UK as Sod's Law.

15:40 actually „hoży doktorzy” means „sick doctors” and it is purposefully spelled wrong to emphasize the madness. The correct spelling is “Chorzy doktorzy”.

Just finished watching the final episode of season 8 yesterday. Loved every minute of the show. Don't think I'll watch season 9. I feel it ended so perfectly. Also if you live in the UK or Ireland, you can watch it all for free on All 4 :)

Just finished listening to the podcast “Fake Doctors, Real Friends” and it really brought me back to some good times. This show was so much fun to watch when it came out!

Per bill lawrence, dr. jan itor was absent from one season one episode because he did not have a series regular contract as he did not audition for the role. lawrence talked the studio into making him a regular in season 2. It was discussed during an episode of the braff and faison "real friends, fake doctors" podcast

Elliot doesn't necessarily spoil the whole 'imaginary janitor' joke, if you watch carefully she doesn't address him directly, they could always have gone back and revealed she was speaking to some else offscreen.

She does speak to the Janitor a couple times. She even directly addresses him as janitor. They go on a date. He gives her a ride on his cart, etc. he’s not an illusion

About fact 86, People thought that when Rowdy came back in season 6 was when they found him, but in "Fake Doctors, Real Friends" they revealed that they found Rowdy pretty quickly after it was hidden. It is still why they got Steven, but I just wanted to point that out.

the grim reaper appeared with the other characters because he appeared at least 2 times. once with his daughter and once playing a board game with JD.

Fun mini fact about 916. Yeah, in my early childhood my home town was legally forced to trade that area code to Sacramento for one of theirs. Second Ellie could have a shared delusion moment of the janitor, given what stress her head was going through.

The little show that could. A masterpiece.

The Janitor was also one of the construction workers they cut to for commentary, in Major League. Another great bit part!

Also, in season 5 when JD helps Perry overcome his guilt for the patient’s deaths, he calls him by his actual name...JD. I’m 99% sure this was the only time he did so. Love this show

Looking back on Scrubs in 2020 makes me realize how many sexist/racist jokes were on that show. They put Zach Braff in black/brownface quite a bit. Not to mention Dr. Cox calling JD by a girl's name at every opportunity. It sucks, because the show had good enough writers that it could have been just as funny without them feeding into that kind of thing. That said, it's still an incredible piece of television history. My Lunch and My Screw Up are right up there with some of the saddest TV episodes I've ever seen.
