Thanks! Of course! I think the perpective is a different one considering the transition from university illustration student to professional Illustrator/Graphic Designer was made around the same time frame as well as an old longtime subscriber. Having the box was and is an incredible way of introducing new art supplies, brands us artists may have never heard of before and finding new favourites! I still actively use some of the stuff I got in those original boxes to this day and have core memories with box #013's Koi paint set in particular; every box felt like Christmas morning! - even this box still had a bit of that feeling. ❤ I think my main takeaway from box #100 was the new very different art supply was such a focus that the basic physical stuff was glossed over a bit. Something I think the older boxes did more effectively was having the box just feel whole, like you were getting an art set that was cohesive from the supplies to the theme and challenge down to the artist included, it worked together to create an experience as well as doing it at cheaper price. If the cost is going to rise over time the consumer will expect at least the same level of quality if not higher. Well aware Inflation is another factor at play with the price hike which is why I said to expect 'at least the same level of quality'. As stated in the video if this was not box #100 it would not have been as obvious how the box felt like it was just missing something to make it feel complete. Even if it was just a simple small compass/ruler (or something like a tool seen in box #024) - leaning into the geometry theme, and maybe a water-soluble pencil to match the aesthetic of the tinted charcoal palette it would have elevated the box. The details really make the experience! It's why I chose Scrawlrbox over all the other art subscription services, I could see both then and now the dedication to the project! An initial thought I had was that box #100 could have done copics again because as far as I was previously aware Copic markers only appeared in boxes #001 and #050. (My very first box being #010 and last was #051 of the old subscription.) Looking at the website spefically looking for copic appearances they also appear in #074 and #091 as well. (Something I hadn't realised until now.) I can understand not wanting the same materials so close together. After having previously had a long scrawlrbox subscription I believe repeat and similar supplies are a given but the experience can be a unique one depending on the presentation. Something to note when ordering on the website is that it took me a bit to figure out where the prepaid options were on the site, I can see prepaid options being really good for gifts for the artists in the family whatever the occasion and the fact the option was not as assessible as I remember it previously being was baffling to me. 🤔 But yes! This medium in the box was a fun one and I hope this fit the challenge well enough! - I refer to the design as my 'Geode Potion' and I love the effects I managed to achieve! ❤ I'm looking forward to my future boxes! 😊

Merry Christmas Emily! 🎄Thank you! So glad I'm not the only one who thought it was a bit empty. Box 100 was supposed to be a milestone, the box itself was decent on its own but even as a regular box (not a milestone) it fell a bit flat, the fact it was the milestone box just made it more glaringly obvious to be fair. I think it needed to be said and done, the old boxes felt so much fuller for £5.95 less than current prices. I understand inflation is a thing however it still would make the box under the current £20.95 price tag at £19.70 (ish). QR codes are all well and good for digital copies but it would have been nice to have physical examples of templates to give a good starting point. I fear the box will fall into the trap of Telling more than Showing. Exposition is great but it can ruin the experience when overused, the same principal can be applied here. So am I! - I look forward to see what is in the next box! ❤

Your insight is very valuable, considering you had past boxes and you have a lot of experience in genera! Merry Christmas Em! 🎄 IKR - I just sat there in stunned silence when that happened 😭 IKR I did really like this box, I'm mixed on it for sure. It just felt a bit empty and that it wasn't box 100 worthy, if this was box 99 or 101 I would of been less disappointed with it but it IS 100, the big milestone and it fell flat. I wanted to be fair, my very first box was Box 10 according to the website! (Seems like a coincidence I came back for box 100 now, but it's just pure chance! 😮) - I never realised I was such an early adopter until just checking! Yeah! I love the design, its like a bottled geode! A great sticker for sure! ❤

Definitely a compass would have been nice! It’s a poor box for a 100th box! Anyway thanks for this video!

I actually felt really underwhelmed by the colours in the pallette they weren't as different to one another as I'd hoped, so I just used my own pallette lmao

So glad I was not the only one, I will say I came to appreciate the subtly I could get with these paints the more I used them, they definitely had a steeper learning curve. I think my main issue was even though the tinted charcoal is a big ticket item with a high price tag the box rang hollow and just felt empty as a result. Box 50 had such a magic too it - of course I have nostalgia for it but at the same time overall it just felt whole with the theme, the amount of supplies, the colour palette and the artist; it all worked together so well. If the price tag is going to be higher the least I should expect is similar quality if not better for a £5.95 price hike.

@ZoeMarrinerArt I've had mine since box 50 too and it felt so much more like an actual little surprise. I'll also say that I'm pretty sure they've done charcoal watercolours before...so the repetition on top doesn't help my opinion. Either way, I got some paint that I'll use out of spite because I paid for them 🤣 I hope you had a nice Christmas

@@tazminejames-palmer5680 I've only just checked which box was my first, that being box 10 since they weren't numbered very well back then so I had no idea I started that early on! Yeah the medium has a very mix opinion from what I've seen, I didn't mind them. True! 🤣 I did! - I hope you had a good one too!
