Excellent drone footage. The engineering ambitions and accomplishments of the Victorians were truly remarkable.

The drone footage was fantastic and in all the times I’ve visited the viaduct I’d never noticed the wider pillars..! 👍

Thanks! I still need a lot of practise but a subject like that one really helps.

Brilliant drone footage and a lot of interesting information. Built at a time when Engineers built the modern world before the accountants were allowed to take over. You will never marvl at or fly a drone over the work of an accountant.

Hahaha! Too true! They made functional engineering with beauty too. There are a few new buildings and structures like that but a whole heap of beancounter's concrete ones as well.

Wow! What stunning countryside and a great bit of engineering and history. Shame about the deaths, that's a crazy amount! Glad to see that the line is still open too, it must be quite an experience travelling over it as well. under it. Seems to be a very popular spot!

I've not done it myself but I do fancy a trip across in a steam train. They run one quite often, though it's an expensive trip so a bit of a luxury. I'm hoping to get back with the drone when one goes over the viaduct.

I do love a good viaduct... and that is one fantastic viaduct! 🙂 Awesome drone footage, and brill addition with the factoids in text below. The Small Pox outbreak must have greatly increased the deaths, I wonder how many were not related to that? 200 is quite a tragedy, especially when you compare that to other disasters etc, a lot of people.

I haven't seen a breakdown of the numbers but you can imagine that small pox in the temporary towns would be a serious problem. It's a superb piece of engineering though!

Great footage young man, love that road too. I rode from Aysgarth to Ribblelead last time I was out and it's always worth the trip. I didn't have a drone with me but I really should try to get up there for some flying around the viaduct and possibly the mountains but can't always rely on the weather.

I was definitely lucky with the weather that day. I visited Aysgarth a few years ago and picked the wrong time. It was when we had the drought and there was barely any water there. It's on my list to visit again. Completely agree on the roads too!
