1000km of river crossings, stunning camps & hidden waterfalls! NSW to QLD Dirt Roads ONLY

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

WELCOME BACK to Off-Grid 2024! 🙌
On the last leg of our journey, we took the first steps into NSW via the Darling River Region, but our end destination for this trip is Queensland!
This stretch of gravel lies right under the noses of most Aussies with over 1000km of pristine water holes, empty campsites & EPIC mountain views.
Yes, we say it a LOT, but we can guarantee you this - you’re going to want to put this trip on your bucket list! 🤩
If you’ve got a keen eye for 4WD social media memes, you might even recognise our special guest… Hopefully he doesn’t make a meme out of Graham! 🤣

I loved this episode, so many things to be thankful for. You started with a feed at the Moonan Flat pub. The steak melts in your mouth there, and the surroundings are beautiful. Then you went over the range to Gloucester, but this is where Graeme missed a trick. He drove over the range without noticing that this is one of the few places on earth that have Temperate Rainforest meeting Subtropical rainforest. It’s super rare to see subtropical vines wrapping around alpine conifers. Apparently Kilimanjaro has a similar version, but it’s really rare. It’s good to see the Offgrid crew heading to SEQ. The sand islands are worth at least three episodes on their own…

As we are from the West Lake Macquarie era, this is in my backyard and would love to follow the similar trails. Keep up the great episodes. Have a brewski for us. Thanks in advance. Cheers

I think they've used creative editing to make it all dirt... There is a lot of dirt tracks through there, but the bits I know and have tried to explore aren't connected without going back to the sealed roads here and there. If there is a route I'd love to see it, but I'm pretty doubtful.

There was once a time when camping was great in Barrington Tops and accessible to everyone with just a basic 4wd. Now if you want to go to a great river side camp site like Junction Pools it’s only a 24km hike round trip by foot! Best camping is by access through State Forest it’s free. Do what you want just pick up your rubbish and make it great for everyone.

For my fellow Americans, multiple kilometers by 0.621 to get the miles. So 1000KM is only 621 miles. My 1989 Nissan D21 Hardbody 4x4 did 25mpg per gallon highway. With a 25gal tank in the bed, I had a 1000 mile (1609KM) range on the highway. Obviously 4x4 travel is way less but the idea is to begin with an efficient engine and drive line, then build the vehicle from that point.

There is a spot you missed on the tops or even the proper start spot on Barrington tops nowadays the public can not use the track linking back up to mooni flats track but still there closed by gates im shore strings could be pulled to do the track all own by state forestry( alot of old logging machines/pullys throughout the tracks and 1/2 pieces at all camps around when seeing one at frying pan you think of it's use back then and can even connect all other machines and pullys if marked on a map)so do have to watch for log trucks and be on channel. Frying pan Creek/coachwork camp grounds out and up the back of Dungog also alot of 4×4 tracks hidden swimming holes, lookouts and no reception true off grid. Personally I've been going there for yrs and still find tracks and waterholes and lookouts

From an American living in Utah, -17 is dam cold, but for reference in the USA we get temps well below that every year. Peter Sinks in Utah had a record low temperature of -56.28 Celsius. In New Hampshire USA, on Mount Washington they had a record low of -77.77🥶🥶🥶 Love your Off Grid episodes, and sad I missed you when you were here!! I called the Bar in Moab to buy you guy's a round of beers, but liquor laws are weird here and they wouldn't let me! Cheers!

Love your adventures and your amazing offroad tracks. I hope to someday ship my Bronco over there to do some amazing wheeling. Like you did here in the USA. I used to live at Lake Tahoe which was right down the road from the Rubicon. Love your content.

I tried to reach that falls twice and failed. But on third attempt I made it. It is one of my favourite. We hiked quite a long way (road closure due to heavy rain) in rain and went for swim in pouring rain.
