The Gilded Age American Heiress Exhibition opened to the public here at Mapperton on the 5th May. However, if you can’t make it in person you can buy a ticket (3 cups of coffee) for a virtual hour long tour with me, and support this ongoing project over at www.buymeacoffee.com/juliejmo...
ROUND-BREAKING AI BRINGS HISTORY TO LIFE - NEW EXHIBITION UNVEILS THE UNTOLD STORY OF A GILDED AGE AMERICAN HEIRESS.
A new exhibition offers a glimpse into the captivating world of Alberta Sturges Montagu, the 9th Countess of Sandwich, and an American Heiress from the renowned era known as The Gilded Age.
Buy a virtual ticket here: www.buymeacoffee.com/juliejmo...
Curated by Mapperton’s very own American Viscountess, Julie Montagu, the "American Heiress" collection is comprised of more than 10,000 previously unseen letters exchanged between Alberta (Sturges) Montagu and her family, as well as the peerage at large.
Dating from 1888 to 1951, these letters constitute the largest unpublished private collection of correspondence from the period. They offer a remarkable glimpse into the life of a "dollar bride" during the Gilded Age, shedding light on both triumphs and struggles.
“With the aid of cutting-edge AI technology, we've resurrected Alberta's voice, allowing her to answer visitors’ burning questions about her remarkable journey,” says Julie Montagu, Viscountess Hinchingbrooke. Buy a virtual ticket here: www.buymeacoffee.com/juliejmo...

I am not sure, since I am new to your channels on KZread, if this is your first video via your new programming via Living History Productions. But let me tell you, this production was suburb. It was filmed beautifully, paced well, and the story line was one to catch one’s heart. William’s love and pride for his beloved family home oozed off the screen. What a remarkable historian. I could listen to him for hours about his home. Brava to you and your team for creating such a wonderful production! I am so happy for all of you for making such a prize winning snapshot of such a historic garden.

What find Julie- an English Manor home in Italy! I just love all your channels. Incredible work you and Luke do. This property has such beautiful property. What a real trooper you are agreeing to help the Head Gardner before you know there are waiters for you and continuing once you know there could be snakes- poisonous or not. 😯 Wishing you and your family the very best. Love from America

I just watched this video again and I heard something I didn't last time. William was talking about the eternal peace when you got to the end of visiting Harold Peeto's (?) sacred space. He talked about hearing the white noise of the water and that calming sound benefitted children and everyone. I am Native American (Crow Creek Sioux) and my tribe traditionally made their camps, summer and winter, close to rivers or streams and they must have discovered the same calming benefits of running water or white noise! Of course, the water was great for cooking and bathing too. IFord Manor is truly beautiful and the history of the family was wonderful, as well.

I love this video! You and William did such a fantastic job telling the history of IFord Manor, but I have to confess, I had to watch the first part of the video when you and william were out on a terrace and he was talking about the Georgians building the terraces about 3 or 4 times - rewind, rewind, rewind!! The orange kitty laying on the ground grooming and watching you was very distracting for me. I love cats and he/she is so beautiful. 🥰🤣

An 18th century earl of Sandwich invented the food item called the "sandwich" and he was the lord of the admiralty and he invented the sandwich to save time . Some say that it was because he was fond of gambling and the sandwich was a quick, convenient snack to have. But digging deeper I've read that the good earl may have gotten the idea from the Swiss region of Grisons where they dine on a dried meat called bresaola which they eat between two pieces of bread - the earl of Sandwich had a close relative (could have been a daughter but I've forgotten the details of this) who was married to the ambassador of the Grisons to the British court - the Grisons was independent from Switzerland at that time and had their own ambassadors to various countries.
