This song perfectly portrays the way the game wants you to feel. Sorrow, determination, and melancholy or something. This is so good. It's crazy how well you are able to inject emotion into the piece.

It depends on what you like! The series is different almost every time. If you have a PS5 and prefer action, 7 Remake is extremely good. If turn-based is okay, 6 7 and 10 are all classics. Or any FF that you think looks interesting story-wise 🙂

OOOOOOOO yayyyy ok sorry in advance this is gonna be a long reply I am gonna LOVE writing haha, but yes as the other person mentioned, gameplay-wise it depends on what you like, and every entry is a standalone title with a whole new cast and world (except the sequels) so you can really start any of them that looks appealing. That said, with gameplay preferences in mind, it is primarily turn-based combat. FFXVI is one of the only FFs with real-time combat, similar to DMC. OG Crisis Core also has real time combat similar to Kingdom Hearts, and so does Stranger of Paradise but with a party system. FF7 Remake and Rebirth and Crisis Core Reunion have an interesting hybrid system of turn-based and real-time that's awesome and innovative, def worth checking out. Objectively, I would recommend FFX or FF7 Remake as good entry points. FFX is the most balanced title with a great cast, story, fun combat, and a gorgeous visuals that still hold up today despite being a PS2 game, especially with the remaster. FF7 Remake is also a fantastic entry, though OG FF7 fans will fight in the trenches forever about how people absolutely need to play the OG FF7 to appreciate Remake as an OG FF7 fan myself I disagree, reading a summary of the story of the original is enough because who the hell has time to squeeze in a 70+ hour RPG these days as a prerequisite to the game you really wanna play (though on God Mode and 2x speed it takes only 15 hours, but STILL lol.) FFXVI is also an entry point for a lot of people but one I hesitate to recommend only because it's so different from the 15+ games that came before, with the real time combat (which is honestly really fun), but also the focus on a single protagonist instead of journeying with a whole party you can control, which is what Final Fantasy is all about, so you won't get a sense of the FF legacy with that one like you would with FFX and FF7 Remake. For my personal favorites, I love Final Fantasy Tactics though it's not exactly a good one to start with because it's an SRPG with a stiff learning curve and punishing difficulty but by golly the story is still the best one to this day, and FFXIII, which is deeply polarizing, but the cast is amazing, the themes are profound, THE OST ABSOLUTELY SLAPS OMG and my favorite protag is Lightning, plus even though it's turn-based it feels like the next step up in turn-based combat, it's so exciting and fluid, you can really see how Remake's hybrid system evolved from XIII. FFVI is also in my top 3, but might be reaching a little too far back to SNES style graphics, if you're not in the mood for that, though the Pixel Remaster does make it a nice retro experience without all the QoL frustrations hahaha, plus you can play it on mobile if you want. It's a banger though omg. I hope that helps!!! let me know if you do take the plunge which you start with and what you think!!!

I get the sense that you're ever so slightly passionate about the series, lol! Thank you both for the responses, I will take a look into them! I have the OG FF7 and know that a lot of people like it, the remake looks incredible but I don't have a PS5. Maybe with mods I could make the OG look better. FF15 also drew my attention, I loved playing the demo of that one but I've heard it's not as consistent or great over time. That said, I DO have a lot of backlog. RDR2, Fallout New Vegas, and Lies of P (on NG+) are a few, and Octopath COTC just got a huge update that includes the final boss of the last main story and a lot of other amazing content, so it may be some time. I also picked up Octopath 1 since it went on sale, and I adore the combat for those games.

@@OokiiPeter OH DAMN thanks for reminding me of COTC, I fell off that one shortly before OT2 when the story left off and they started gating progression HARD after hitting level 50 and I was getting annoyed lol, but someone (was it you?) told me there have been major story updates that have been getting good so I need to get back to that!!! OT1 is baller, nice one! Lies of P I have heard nothing but amazing things, I swear one of these days I'll get over being intimidated by soulslikes hahaha. RDR2 got on my radar only because it was pitted in some silly online tournament bracket against SOTN and won by an overwhelmingly majority and of course I'm all like WHAT COULD POSSIBLY BE BETTER THAN SOTN lmao so i've been lowkey curious hahaha. Also regarding FF15, the criticisms were true at launch, but it's worth playing the Royal Edition, that's the best version of 15 right now, though some of the criticisms are still valid (major story beats happening offscreen...smh) but if you loved the demo I think you'll enjoy Royal Edition! =) but yes backlog ahahaha

Yeah, COTC gets really tough in some of the end-game, especially if you don't have some of the more limited units. There's a really really good banner going on right now, with both featured units being some of the best in the game (and one being very future-proof). It just got the final main story update a week or so ago, and the final boss is a biiiig fight (but also very cool and flashy in typical JRPG fashion). If you don't want to commit to playing - which I get with so much else going on and with the difficulty - maybe you could watch some playthroughs or something just to get the idea of how it goes? Lies of P was fantastic!! There is the option to summon an AI companion for bosses, which really makes it very friendly towards those getting into the genre/game, and with the amount of mechanics that steamline the experience, it really is a fantastic entry point IMO. I have to get around to RDR2 more! It had a looooooooot going on (which was impressive but almost overwhelming to me). It's a fantastic game, but I also really really adored SOTN - it's such a historic game, and is really good. I think the reason RDR2 may have one is because it's more modern, meaning more people have played it, and it's quite massive/expansive. I adored SOTN, and what I've played of RDR2 is impressive, but I honestly couldn't even think of pitting them against one another!
