What I’ve noticed is the ship manufacturers offer the habs, cockpits, dockers, landing gear, and structural components to get the look of a ship. But then things like reactors, grav jump units, engines, weapons, shields, and cargo are all from third party companies that specialize in those fields. But you can definitely work out that different companies work alongside each other regularly based on looks of components. Really a cool detail

Which makes sense. Reactors etc will be mostly universal, while habs and cockpits are more proprietary.

I built a similar one out of (what used to be) the Frontier. I based it on the Spacer Racoon - basically the Mako - I call it the “feisty racoon”. It’s a great little raider for when I want to go pirating and don’t have any followers with me to judge me when I attack The Valentine :)

Yeah but do you really wanna sort your inventory out every time you change ships. That would be a huge disincentive to switch between your ships regularly

Options are nice but I'd be willing to bet they experimented with it when designing the game and found it to be a hassle for players even if they thought they wanted it initially

Update! Made a double wide version of this build, asymmetrical, to compensate for a C class reactor.....it still performs and melts! Thank you again for a solid foundation!

Thank you so much for your videos and congrats on your 1k subs. It's helped out immensely knowing what ships to buy or hunt down to exploit parts I can't as of now build on my own. I don't know if there is any plan for this but it'd be nice if you revisited some of the older ship review videos and include a parts breakdown for some of those that didn't have them.

Taiyo ships are named for sea creatures... After all that planet is all ocean...

I have encountered soooo many Spacer Racoons which is basically the model you based this build on, even modified one myself into a pretty good light fighter style ship

I've gone and watched every video you've uploaded when it comes to ships. Very helpful and mostly spoiler-free. I would love to hear your thoughts/discuss the ships more!

What I always notice is people don’t know about thrusters. If it’s that maneuverable without them imagine what happens when you hit the RB button.

Yeah, thrusters make the ship way more maneuverable.

I wonder if you can pare down the length by swapping that Hopetech Docker for an underslung slimline docker from Deimos(it goes on the top by default but can be flipped)? While not the actual bumper part, HopeTech does have a structural piece that puts a small horizontal rounded brace on the end of a hab which can be used to add some finish to the hab without extending past the cockpit.

I put the slim bottom docker on mine, looks good, and added a little cargo off the back.

Congratulations! All of these have really helped on what to buy...or not to! LOL

Love the style of the ship but if they ever fix the glitching of parts (not saying they will but we all said they would not fix the loot chests too) then there is going to be a lot of players with broken game crashing ships.

It's not exactly that ship. The version in game is called the mako, and it has different engines

i and quite a few other people with that bethesda had made certain parts have more purpose. those structural components for instance have fuel tanks but they dont hold fuel. cant wait for the modding tools.

I built my own tiny gunship with a bunch of hopetech parts, I also used a crimson fleet ship as a base

How would I do it? Replace the top cowling, move the shields to atop the grav drive, scrap the Hopetech docker and put in a Taiyo top docker. And arm it like you did.

Built this for myself. Just wanted a tiny ship for fun.

There's a pirate ship build on my channel. Look up the reckoner, it's a ship built by one of my subscribers

2:46 You can exceed the limit of 10 ships by acquiring free ships. These are added even if you already have 10 ships.

you can make is smaller by using the slim docker, and trashing all of the unnecessary structural components

So, I built this ship, just swapping out for a lot of more expensive upgrades, and it's nice, but whenever I pilot it members of Constellation keep stepping into my lap and abscuring my view. I have to kick them off my ship to keep them out of my face. Guess it's just too small for them to have a place to stand without standing in the pilot seat.

The thing with your crew is if you have a large crew size and then downgrade to a smaller ship. They will stay on the ship until you land at the planet where you found them. So for the constellation members, you'll have to go to new atlantis to get rid of them.

Are there any benefits to having a tiny ship?

All hull is the same end game regardless of size or class. Once the shield drops, you need some fancy flying to not die

All I know is the shield perk +/- glitch is getting on my nerves. I should have over 2k shields and in reality they bounce back and forth from 939 to 660 -_-

@@CrimsonFlyboy I have a 1600 shield module, but because the shield perks (for companions too) is glitched, it will go NEGATIVE 60% sometimes instead of plus 60%. So instead of having 2k shields, I typically fly around with 949
