Wait a while and then find a nice pup. We raise Australian Shepards and find that 70 per cent of our pups go to folks who have lost a special pet. There are some great dogs out there who need a good home.
Nothing feels like a well set up wooden plane. Nice.
👍🐯👍Excellent work, chamfers are nice but the lambs tongue you used here adds some elegance and beauty to the tool. Thanks for sharing your work. Cheers.
For posterity A beautiful hand made plane like that deserves to have your name carved into it. A craftsman should always be remembered for his workmanship.

Very nice… Never too old to get started. I am 48 years old and love working with wood. Best regards from Southern California 👍
Dang you’re good. It turned out beautiful. So good to see you and Utz again.

I like your renewed handplane, I like your shop, I like your videos, but I love your dog!!!
Good to see utze!
That sweet sweet sound of a SHARP plane.
You are the craftsman. Thanks for sharing
Great to see you back at it!
I love wood working
Nice one! Will be enough for the next century
Beautiful result. I would advise those watching that these transitional planes are great user planes just as they are. Don't overlook them just because they are wooden!
That is a beautiful plane.
What a beautiful piece of art!! I have never seen any woodworking tool that beautiful! It belongs in a museum on display. Thanks for showing us your craft, and thanks for a great video.
Beautiful work Chris. Whomever receives the first one will definitely have a cherished piece of working art.
Well done!
I bought that exact plane at a yard sale several years ago and was going to fix it up but haven't. Now I've got some inspiration and a good idea on what to do.
Enjoyed every minute of this video. Thank you for sharing. 👍
I have that same plane sitting in parts on the bench waiting to be cleaned and rebuilt. Nice job.
Chris, I really enjoy your videos. You seem like the kind of person I’d like to be around, you seem so patient. The world moves so fast, and watching you take the time to do some of these projects is fascinating - thank you for sharing!
Excellent project Bro! No one ever says this.. but thanks for wearing eye and ear protection.. Again, Great work!
Beautiful work!
I was not too sure about ‘destroying’ the frame as I tend to like the original/traditional design. However, this came out beautifully, Excellent work.
Love it Chris! Great work!
Love the wirehair
Great job on the plane and the video
Stunning. Thanks for sharing.
Very, very nice job 👍
I couldn't help but think what a long walk that was to the miter saw as compared to the old shop! Good to see Utz in front of the camera again too. Nice job on the plane Chris!

Haha definitely is a long walk now!
Great video and beautiful plane! Would you be able to make a video explaining the parts of planes and different types of planes? I didn't know what you were talking about a lot of the time...
UTZ IS BACK!
Awesome plane.
I have a couple of old planes just like that wondering if it's worth it. The added strength in the design increased my interest in doing it. Both are in fair shape and original so I have choices to make.
Absolutely stunning 🙏🙏
Bravo. I Love Thais model. From Brazil my friend.
Amazing..beautiful work.
Nice job. I like how you continued the sapwood in the handle
Well done! Ready for another 100 years of use. I love that snick of a sharp plane blade on wood. I you’re not careful, it’s easy to plane away your wood just listening to the sound.
While the sapp wood adds a nice contrast, personally I would prefer the same wood coloring throughout. Just an admission - I couldn’t do the level of work that you make look so easy! Job well done sir!
It turned out beautifully. I like the look of the razee style planes, and it does seem to help with your tote hand being lower and closer to the workpiece.
Thank you! I have been wanting to make a razee plane out of a transitional. Now i have a tutorial. I have an old Ohio with a thick tapered iron that will be perfect. Love your videos. Especially the workbench . I may even try to make an all wood razee skew plane. I bought a skew blade panel raising plane at the woodwrights school in NC. Great Video, keep up the good work.
Excellent!
Beautiful work. Love the beginning. "Hey, I was ready, where were you?" - Utz, probably. Bringing that plane back to life was amazing.
Your shop turned out beautiful!

another great video
Those chisels are super sharp, Gosh!
Where was this video 2 years ago when I passed up on buying a wooden jointer plane at an antique shop because the wooden base was cracked. Maybe it’s still there, maybe not, but if I ever see another … it’s mine!
Great job.
Beautiful work
Excellent work

Good wood choice
Well that was fantastic
I love your wood color choice. I found 2 arrowheads here in Southern California that are the same color as your plane. I wish I could share a picture of them with you so you could see what I’m talking about. I really enjoy your videos… Thank you so much👍
Dude! I guess I missed the give away. I just watched your video. Nice work. I’m late due to falling g asleep under a tree. And well someone yelled me name and woke me up. Wish they would have done it 2 years ago.
I am one for restoring tools as they were designed. That being said, I also intend to use them, not put them on a shelf. Your 'restomod' is brilliant! Great choice of woods.
Wow, this turned out insanely beautiful. I think you improved on the original design without taking it too far. Good call on leaving the 'frame' part raw! Also a nice touch that you shortened it using hand tools only. One question in that context: a lot of people take extreme care not to get metal filings on their workbench. You don't seem to mind... any comment on that? Thanks for the great vid, I really liked the pace. Not too fast, not too slow... excellent!

Thank you for the kind words. I don’t make a habit of doing a lot of metal work around my work bench but occasional light work doesn’t bother me too much. I also don’t have a dedicated metal area right now. I just make sure I wipe everything off really well. Plus I almost always use oil based finishes and if a speck of metal ends up one a piece of wood it won’t rust from the oil finish like it would if I used water based finishes
It came out really nice. Cheers
Saw this plane on Instagram awhile back , it is even more spectacular in this video.
Amazing work. You always inspire
It is a nice job I enjoyed watching you keep up the good work God bless
At first sight I thought you were going to restore the old planer but no, you completly built a new one from scratch (except the metal parts). Even better ! It is nice to see some fine woodworking coming back on the channel !

That was a beautiful job. I have a transitional plane and was wondering what to do with it. Now I have some idea. Thank you and give Utz a biscuit for being such a helpful shop buddy.
The new workshop look amazing Chris
At first I thought you cut the frame because it didn't fit in the tub and my jaw dropped. Looks awesome, works awesome, and is one of a kind...thanks for sharing!
Very nice work
So great to see these types of videos again, Chris! That's what got me started into more hand tool work years ago: watching one of your earlier restoration videos. Thanks again!

Great project. I love your choice of wood. And great to see Utz. Everyone needs a good shop dog.
This is a good moment, when the plane starts to "sing".
A joy to watch. Really well done Chris!
I love this Chris. And man the shop is coming together! Such an awesome huge space. Well earned my friend. -Ben
