If you ever upgrade the tiny house you could buy a toilet which has a small basin built in on top of the flush system. That way no need to use the kitchen sink after toilet use and therefore more hygienic.

Can’t say the idea of washing my hands on top of the toilet excites me. You would definitely want to close the lid on the commode when you flush. Microscopic droplets can fly when you flush and easily land in and around the sink. ICK!!! It’s not a surprise to hear people end up with E. Coli in their system and wonder why. Sanitary would be washing your hands in the kitchen although barely . Raw chicken rinsed in the sink is an invitation for Salmonella germs to be on hard surfaces. Just keeps getting better and better!!

The tiny home looks great but I have some suggestions. The toilet needs a wash hand basin to pass building regulations so I would have installed a toilet with a wash hand basin fixed behind the toilet pan. Also a slow cooker would be a great addition to the kitchen. A cabin bed with the office space below. 😊

I love it; it's so cute. It reminds me of my very first apartment. They were old dorm rooms that had been renovated into micro apartments. The rent cost was half that of a normal 1 bedroom, so it was perfect for a poor, single student. Being less than 5 feet tall was also to my advantage when living in such a small space. I had a lofted bed with a 2 person sofa underneath. My table/desk was a small Korean table that I could put away when not in use. I even had a small washing machine, so I didn't even have to use a coin laundry.

Like the layout a lot too! I prefer the swing of the fridge door as is though. Taking stuff out would be easier to rest on the counter beside it, than placing above on the other; especially if taking out multiple items. More energy efficient too.. don't have to open door as wide moving from the sink to the fridge and vice versa. I would also go for the toilet sink combo for sure.

Personally, I think you need a bigger sink because there’s nothing worse than trying to wash dishes in a little tiny sink. Trust me I’ve done both in the normal size sink versus a tiny one and the normal size ones out each and every time because when you have a Lotta dishes, you need space to get them clean and put away.

Once my stove top and my oven broke down in my old 1960’s home I just bought cooking appliances. Once I get my kitchen renovated I know I’m going to have to put a full oven in to sell my home. I know I will not be using it because those three appliances work perfectly for my needs.

The air fryer may be a good idea, especially if you can find one of the multi purpose appliances. A family member just got one that air frys, pressure cooks, steams and slow cooks all in one unit.

I loooove the blue and yellow! It gives life and cheer to the space. Add a shelf for the microwave just above where it is setting. Or micro convection. I love a toaster oven. Found a child size set of enamel muffin and cake pans for making a quick package of mix. 😋

I really like the place. As someone who lived in a suite almost the same size as this for many years. I feel like I have some experience in making some recommendations. 1) Get a larger fridge. I had a small fridge like the one you have and it was my biggest compliment about the suite I rented. I would always have to be running to the store to get more food and when I meal prepped it made it hard to store my meals. I was a student at the time. 2) lift the microwave and toaster onto the wall. I love the small shelf above the sink. But I would rather see a larger shelf installed to hold my microwave, toaster and blender or what have you. Maximizing the vertical space in my tiny suite was important and I was fortunate that my place did maximize the vertical wall space well. 3) That Ikea sofa bed is really bad. I had the exact same one and it lasted about 6 or 8 months before it cut the bolts in half. I do not know the exact dimensions, but FLEKKE from Ikea is the day bed I went with after that couch/bed and it was way better. The headboard/sideboard makes it a great couch because you can lean against the headboard/sideboard without having your own body weight push yourself away from the wall. Additionally having only having the headboard on one side makes it less intrusive in the space. Actually, sorry that couch is not the one I had. However, not having a full length bed is rough. I know you, know this space better than I do. So I'm not saying my opinion is more valid. I am just making suggestions. I love the place and would rent it in a heartbeat from you 😊.

Your tiny build is really nice, and given what it adds in value ot the property and utility, this was done well. An air fryer microwave combo and a toilet+sink basin combo would just elevate the space. Oh and a sofa bed that's just a tad longer so your calves have a rest too at night.

How does one adequately wash pots and pans in such a small sink? It would make a mess and be such a pain. The upgrade I would give is a larger kitchen sink or at least a large outdoor sink for bigger messier jobs. Added: I love the color choices and general use of space. I wish I someone could convert my storage building that looks like a house into fully functioning tiny home. I’m so jealous but in a complimentary way😊.

The tiny home looks great! my biggest gripe would be the tiny fridge. I would have personally installed a microwave with a fan and light above the stove to give you more counter space for something like an air fryer. for it being small and simple and a temporary living quarter while you are renovating it is very well put together! that bed however would not work for me being 6'4

As a project, I admire what you've done with such a small space, it looks to be done to a high standard and you get a lot of bang for your buck. I get the impression that this was built for you and I do hope that is the plan and it's never rented out. Building it for yourself is one thing but the housing situation in this country is getting worse and worse. I can see a future where such small homes are offered at obscene rents to those who are desperate and with no other choice.

I was gifted a toaster oven that is also a convection oven and air fryer for Christmas. We hardly use our traditional oven anymore, since it’s so much faster to use the new one. It would be plenty for a small space, and only takes up the space of a large toaster oven/medium microwave.

  • @lucymorgan8859

I think a small convection oven/air fryer would be great! You can also get a combo one with a griddle on top, and a coffee(or tea) maker on the side... kitch, I know, but still kinda fun! Then, you dont even have to turn on your 4 burner at all. You can cook all your dishes at once, with the same amt of energy as doing 1 thing!

Super cute, but I would of made the kitchen counter higher, it would of given you more space in there and less bending over. An air fryer is a good idea. Microwave could of been places above the hob or in your cupboard, bigger fridge to higher counter height.

Also if you plan to rent it out you will need EICR and EPC rating. At this present time without the above if you are living in it it is illegal. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news.

My son is also a software engineer and just bought new home bout yr ago but ur tiny house has absolutely everything he’d ever need in it. His priorities are his shower and his tv for gaming 😂 plus hob to cook his dinner on and microwave for leftovers. Only thing I’d say is definitely get an air fryer, that’s another thing he couldn’t be without now he’s got 1. You’ve done an amazing job and maybe time to choose a new career if ur 1st tiny house build is anything to go by. Best of luck in future and I’ll be watching out for more videos

Nice pad. Just a couple of questions. Why not use a 2 burner hob? It would have given you a lot more worktop space. I’m also intrigued about the power / water supply. Have you just extended the supply from the house, or is it charged separately . Cheers CD.

  • @DanQuirke

In hindsight a 2 burner would have been much better, I think I've used 3 rings maybe twice? Power wise there was already electricity, but I needed to add a lot more sockets, spot lights and increase the power supply going to it from 30A to 50. The water is also connected to the main house and was just extended over from scratch 🙂
