After watching narrative gaming since online gaming became a thing I can honestly say this was the most well built and watchable community event I've ever watched. Truly brought the best out of zomboid. Little jealous as wen playing zomboid I feel all gamers desire this level of world depth and player interaction. 10/10. Well done

@@dominion7363 basically after the survivors killed all the soldiers, I was technically part of their faction still so I survived. However at the very end someone deleted all the factions so it just became a battle Royale. Not sure if my character will return in the future or not, I guess that’s up to the viewers to decide.

@@doster6865 I deleted the faction so I could do donuts on the remaining survivors. Aside from the military men, everyone at the train station survived canonically. Boderman's story doesn't end there, even if the character himself is off screen in the next event.

On god, the disrespect ben showed emerald when he put her down, it was only a matter of time before his bad deed caught up with him. Spider was just the instrument of it. Shame vanguard put him down for it. He avenged an innocent's murder. If only zoro (i think? Hes the one who killed emeralds partner right?) Saw the same fate for gunning down one hostage despite the group reaching the conclusion to take them both.

Yeah, the dude who was supposedly killed actually shows up to the trial as a witness and says he was never run over by anyone at any time. You'd think the court would find that to be VERY interesting but no one seems to actually care which is super weird. I'd definitely want to know what was going on if I was participating in a trial and the manslaughter victim shows up alive and well to testify.

@@Strideo1 It's not that weird, some were playing in-character, some were less serious about what happened and saw things as they were happening within a videogame, therefore someone dying and respawning making perfect sense to them. And even after that fact, in microcosms, people will vote for the results they want to see rather than for what is just. They'll often serve their own interest and just mascarade it as justice. There's not enough people involved to truly be fair.

Rudeus Danenhower here! Pleasure to be of service. This was an incredible experience, and we can't thank you enough for organizing it. This event sparked a very strange snowball effect, beginning with Crugnor (Ernie) writing an in-character journal. Many of us in the USSR took inspiration from that, and together writing personal journals adding up to over 8 pages of personal lore! There were memes throughout the Five Exes server that popped up based on session events, Gartic Telephone games after every session depicting in-game events, and more! A handful of us even started a DnD group which I'm proud to be a part of. You've cultivated a community that grew far bigger than anyone could have guessed. There's a lot of potential here, and I hope to watch it grow bigger and bolder over the coming years. It's been fun, and I hope to join you again soon.

Vanguard started out doing good things (supposedly they say), got bigger and became unhinged, randomly decided they needed to kidnap someone, then decided to murder their kidnap victim because they couldn't free her or she might attack them for kidnapping her.

Yea, especially the "Ok Guys, am I gonna stay in prison till the end of the event now?" part, anyone who enjoys roleplay events in game or real life knows how horrendously boring and bad drawn out kidnappings are, the least Ben should've done is leaving her there alone for her having a chance to escape. Same with the senseless killing of the guy in front of the shop, why not just give of a warning shot and telling him to run if he wants to live? At least some drama

Not gonna lie it was really satisfying seeing Old Ben get what was coming to him after what he did to Emerald.

Sara Devor(reporter) here despite only being able to make 2 sessions but those were honestly some of the best zomboid (or even gaming) experiences so many fun people and new people to meet! Thank you so much!

I love it that in this game you can see the behaviour and some personally of the other players if they are really competent to be a leader or just a physcopat. Who has the patience of waiting or who has less patience. 😂

10/10 all worth the wait and I am glad the tunnel snakes got some screen time and quiet a bit more then we all expected cannot wait for season 2. RAHHHH TUNNEL SNAKES RULE!!

Brilliant editing and narration. Comedy gold from the various characters involved. From "I need tweezers" to Emerald's last word. I bet everyone had a hoot. This is proper entertaining content. Big thumbs up from me.

The entire video felt like a whole movie. Really great job for all those people, that were involved in this. I really liked Emerald's story arc and I hope that there will be more zomboid community projects in the future.

I really hope we get another zomboid video like this. This was just too good. I never really watch videos that are past an hour long but this had me hooked from the very beginning.

Opinions, viewpoints, and hopes for the sequel: 1) It kinda feels like this was supposed to be a RP event, with having a few semi-scripted events and such and trying to build a story. That said, it's really hard to stay in it when it's constant memeing and cracking jokes, dicking around during RP scenes/events and, even worse, complaining about being bored from RP events happening in an RP event. I've been involved in a number of sim units and am an avid TTRPG player, and while joking around happens there's usually some official (and mostly unofficial) rules that kind of set up the expectations that when the shit hits the fan, whether that be bullets, zombies, or even courtroom drama coming your way, it's time to square up and take it seriously. At least more seriously, it's still a game and all, but hopefully you know what I mean. Now that doesn't mean having demerits and such like sim units had/have, but maybe something set up to encourage people to actually play a role and embody some kind of character, at least during the square up moments of the events. 2) Along the lines of setting some ground rules/expectations/do's & don'ts, I'd hope "no random kidnapping" gets added to that list. I appreciate Ol' Ben trying to set up an RP opportunity, and I really like Shane from The Walking Dead (both graphic novel and show), I don't think just randomly trying to snatch someone up to force it is the way. Especially just to evade the opportunity to play that out at the courtroom. It made it feel like just trying to justify a long, drawn out RDM under the guise of "role playing". -This is just a side rant about point two, please feel free to move on to point three: It felt even more like RDMing when, after they decide to randomly snatch somebody, get two somebody's, have those two somebody's try to include both of them in this event, to just have Zorro just decide to gun one down and go on a rant about "supposed to be a simple job" when it wasn't a job in the first place, it was just a group deciding they wanted to lock someone away from participating in the game. And then they didn't even do anything with locking Emeralds up! Just, "Oh hey, I've got a chance to kill you now! No RPing for anybody else to see here!" I would've loved to see it go down like this; message Emeralds before that session (or even during the game) and be like "Yo, I wanna explore my character having a breakdown about your character and the van thing, that cool? Heads up, could be lethal!" and then (assuming we get the go ahead) then "stumble across them" (from getting their location), talk about the "luck" of finding the thieves from before, skip the Simple Job RDM, and get them both back to base. Then you keep harping on and on about, "They took our van, what else have they done? Etc. etc." Then when it's you and one other prisoner, "Hey, I've got this, go backup the others." And the _moment_ your guard buddy is out the door? "I've got to help the others, I can't take the chance (or something along those lines)" and BLAM BLAM! You got the greenlight *before* ruining someone's participation in the event (the "I could tell from the long kidnapping" and the "Am I just going to spend the rest of the game locked up?" were pretty damning) AND you immediately open up that RP opportunity with guard buddy. Did his character actually overhear? Does he go back to confront Ben? Does he maybe agree with Ben's sentiment (with a slip of the tongue about being glad merced Emeralds when someone with a dissenting opinion can overhear)? Does guilt lead to a confession to someone else later? You've now enjoyed the event your participating in, you make sure that the person you involved is enjoying the event they're participating in, *and* you keep the RP engine running for even more enjoyment later! 3) I'd also like to see some encouragement for these RP style events to at least choose a real name and at least an adjective for the role they wanna play. Jason M., friendly. Alisha S., altruistic. Brian B., aggressive. It's awesome seeing the likes of Cody "Danger" Donger, Patrick Boderman, Rudy, Matthew Leggett, and Father Ted, so it hurts even more when they have to react to their friend being eaten by zombies screaming "Oh God, the zombies got 69BigChungusFeetLover69!" and might encourage a bit more RP if they have an actual name.

Wow these are all fantastic points! I actually enjoyed the improvisation and clear chaos of the lack of guidelines, but that may be because I have not seen this kind of play before. Bravo on these insights, well done.

I think the disconnection from the RP was always funny I would imagine that they were still RPing and they actually would say those things in real life lol

I was so glad to be a part of this, and the video turned out great! It was super fun to play and to watch!

This turned out to be a really interesting cool story, despite the plot holes and randomness lmao

Random vid I found and was happy to see what I’ve been hoping for in the PZ community. survival, groups and factions forming, territory and politics. Ever evolving story by the actions of others and a mid/long narrative to give life and purpose to the unending days of apocalypse. Solid job would love to see more of these in a series.

This is so awsome. Its like the dream of what a big group of people on game could create. Literally better than a tv show with all the factions, solo main characters, fights, story, and tragedies. I'm less than halfway through and this is better than could have expected.

Lol wow, the factions: USSR Cassidy Caravan Tunnel Snakes Phoenix Market West Point Vanguard Dongers "The Bandits" Three Musketeers. These factions all started peacekeepers, but slowly took 3 routes: death, pure evil, or a husk of what was. The Casiddy Caravan to tragicly be put down for no reason, the Vanguard to go from what was the newest group to cold blooded killers, and Phoenix market to go from a main group to almost non-existen. The story only thickened with the abductions, scientist appearence, court hearings, Louisville trip, etc. That was truly a great session and insane. It was a perfect little disaster and like I said, better than any show made. This was natural. I want to say three things; first that the USSR managed to stay semi-sane peace keepers and the biggest faction through the whole thing, impressive. The story of Old Ben, Emerald, and Spider getting justice was literally a drama curve in a movie that was so bittersweet. And that I counted about 17 non military/scientist survivors at the end, and thank God everyone got put down at the end because they were all goofballs, monsters, and survivors who had been through too much to continue. I lied, two more things. Who were "The Bandits" talked about tearing apart small groups? We heard about them early on and I mean way before Vanguard turned wicked. There was a lot more people taken out offscreen session to session. Like yeah some were zombies attacks but look at the numbers on the session switch's! I wonder if the Three Musketeers had a history before they met everyone else or that there were more people like the "mystery man" taken out for stealing food. Second Tunnel Snakes rule. Seeing their journey from the beginning and near early demise, yet the ones left managed to pull up at the end was awsome, I was rooting for them. Apologies for the essay, this was a great video.

@@wizardwaluigi8623The “bandits” were a faction that basically joined the event to cause chaos and hunt people. They were originally going to be the main antagonists, but they were toxic and broke the server rules several times so unfortunately they had to be redacted from the video and they were banned after session 2. It’s a shame how things turned out, they would have served as a much better antagonistic force than what we got.

I wish there was more with the tunnel snakes

Everyone in the video is so concerned with being the funniest person in the game and it ended up just being hard to watch at times.

That ending was the greatest thing I ever seen 😂😂😂 "here what's left of 100 players from a zombie apocalypse. Here's 9 seats to escape" 😂😂 I loved that split second of butter chaos and gun against gun 😂 security soldiers didn't stand a chance in that

30:53 I must say, dying surrounded by your friends, having a proper mad sesh with the lads and celebrating the death of a notorious scoundrel, I'd end it there too. Because in the apocalypse there's no guarantee that this large group of friends would stay together or alive for long. I'd rather die having the best night of my life than live through the horrors of the apocalypse.

The fact that you were able to put all of this together, and edit it so seamlessly had me thinking this was a big channel or something. Here I am flabbergasted that you have 4.3k. I've never played this game, only discovered its existence a few days ago. This video is amazing! More compelling than most of the zombie films out there!
