Anyone that ever slags of the 80s wasn’t growing up in them, the best diversity of music ever, top of the pops a religion, went out at 7 the same time as everyone else and the last dance in the nightclubs wearing a shirt and tie and at the end the original acid house and rave scene, I genuinely feel blessed to have grown up in the UK during the 80s

It is incredible to see how the musical stars have aged over the years, yet their music will still be around for many years to come. I'm sure I speak for many when I convey my thanks to them all for providing the soundtrack to my youth.

Agree 100%. I was 14 in 1981,lucky to have experienced MTV when it started and actually played videos. Those were the best years for music and hanging with my friends at the mall,buying cassettes at the record stores. At least we have youtube and our memories.

Jon Bon Jovi. Like aging wine. Just gets better and better with time, and still sounding great. He does so much good in this world. Doing so much to making sure people don't go hungry.

this era of music s one of the golden era, I must say. All the big names of the industry were there. I felt sorry for those who passed away. music was at its peak. It almost 4 decades passed but it seems like it was just a yesterday. I really miss those days as I turned to 54.

When Linda Ronstadt accepted an award for her 2019 documentary "from the AARP!!!), she was led to the podium by her good friend, Maria Muldaur (I'm sure you're all aware of Ms. Ronstadt's health issues). In her usual good-humored and humble way, Ms. Ronstadt made a very profound point. She said, "Most of us didn't think we would make it to old age." I realized that her generation of artists had lost so many of their fellow artists at a very young age due to drugs and alcohol use during a time of great social, political, and cultural upheaval. The demands of touring and churning out album after album fueled much of this. Good to see in this video that so many are still here to enjoy their families and making music!

Just be glad if you live into senior years, lots of people die young, and even babies. Old age can be hard, but just make the best of it, and count your blessings, enjoy what you can, even if its just Netflix, tea, cake, and my baby pug and shihtzu. I thank God everyday, for another day on his earth, with those we love.

Wow all my idols have suddenly become old and me with it. Where did the time go. Great Times .

Every time I see Tom Petty I can't help to think how much we lost with his passing. I wouldn't even consider myself a huge fan but he was always there throughout my life cranking out new music. While I wouldn't call any of his stuff groundbreaking, it was always good music.I can't help to believe he would still be doing the same today.

Same feeling, he wasn't at the top of my favorite when growing up, but as adult I got to hold special place and respect for him as an artist. More so after watching documentary 10 years or so ago. He is just Tom Petty, just as Tina, these musicians transcend styles.

Time goes by so fast . I’m 58 this year and remember the 1980s like it was yesterday . I know people from that time who have passed away early in life at age 55 and 54 . Well at 58 I feel good and I’m still young . I guess when you get into your 70s and 80s you really wonder where the time went .

Funny how we use terms like cat years, dog years, etc. to make us appreciate life more, Yet we always deny how fast we really last and how fast we travel. Look how fast a 1 day goes by, or how fast an hour will last. So if I said the average life span is only 21,914 days (60 years) clearly proves how fast life travels by us! Live each day as if it were your last. Slow your life down and enjoy what is in front of you now, because in a short flash of time, it will zoom right by us. I thought I was an original, when 15 years ago, I asked my mother, why are people always wishing their own lives away, without them even knowing it. These wonderful people made the 80s great! I remember work and wages were so hard to acquire. The music got me through. I was so happy seeing their faces as I’m so happy that most of these gems are still alive.

I love watching these videos so so so so very much because it allows me to relive the memories of my childhood being at home with my dad & my cousin Casey watching all of these legendary artists on MTV.

Funny how I’m 60 now, but I only remember them from the way they looked in their heyday! Madonna def has had some cosmetic touch-ups lol!

I changed the playback speed to half was the perfect speed.. had to turn the sound off, as it doesn't sound good at that playback speed

My then boyfriend won a radio contest and we were flown to England to meet Samantha Fox. When the “veddy British” security guard at Heathrow asked what we were going to do in England for just 3 days, I happily told him we were going to me “recording star” Samantha Fox. In a typical droll manner he replied, “Oh, I’m soooo glad you didn’t call her a singer.” 😄
