100 Mile Glasgow Edinburgh

100 Mile cycle Glasgow to Edinburgh and back Sunday June 5th 2022. This was a cycle that i went along Edinburgh road past Carntyne, Cranhill, Easterhouse an Baillieston towards Coatbridge and Airdrie. Then I pass through Plains and onto the off road cycle path that goes to Bathgate passing Caldercruix, Blackridge and Armadale. This is all on national cycle network route 75 but at Bathgate I join a path that is at the side of the A89 all the way towards Edinburgh airport and past the Royal highland centre at Ingliston. Turning right past the Royal bank of Scotland onto Gogar station road towards the union canal and head along the tow path on NCR 754 towards the city center. Then I head up and pass through Burntsfield links and the Meadows on my way to the Scottish parliament where i stop for a rest and listen to some of the speakers and a singer at a vigil for the Ukraine outside the parliament. After that I start to head back on Queens drive passing by Salisbury crags. When i get onto the union canal i miss my turn to go back onto the A89 and stay on the canal passing Ratho Marina then onto what was the most scenic part of my day as this stretch of the canal was simply breathtaking. further along after Broxburn I passed Greendykes Bing and I was really pleased to see this close up as I've only ever viewed it from the M8 and have wanted to get closer. My batteries at this point are running out so I was limited to what I could film and on top of that my body and legs had started to override my brain on most decisions that I was trying make from now on. As for any drone shots it seemed to malfunction at the start of my journey and it is almost impossible to fly it in Edinburgh as there is so many military bases with helipads and also the airport. When i got out of Edinburgh I was more focused on getting home. This was my first century completed in a few years, my fourth century to date and my longest overall ride at 109.3 miles to be exact. The next day I developed a terrible cold that extended my recovery by a week. Really looking forward to century no 5 and hopefully can do it this summer.

Was planning on going back to Glasgow the same way I headed out. Glad I went a different route as that kept it more interesting keeping my mind off how sore I was.

Nice. Never knew that way. I normally do canal off road all way from Glasgow. Get those liquids on board even better if you add electrolytes will stop cramping, and even better still one with calories. Wiggle do a cheap their own brand 1.5kg bag of energy drink powder with all that keeps you good and energy coming in as you drink.

@@Free__Speech I’ve started to notice how many potholes I swerve to avoid during the editing process. Definitely not a good experience with narrow wheels.
