"It's ocean-gothic, not beach at all. It's not happy beach time; it's sad cliff time." -- A publisher needs to hire you to write pithy premise descriptors for people who are more concerned with narrative topics, tone, and setting vs. conventional plot synopses. I kinda want to read this book now solely on your choice of words.

To follow up on Turkish literature, have a look at Oğuz Atay, particularly "The Disconnected". It is often called the Turkish Ulysses. Hard to get a hold of in English but, at least the Turkish version, is life changing. I feel like he should be talked about more and wish more people knew about him.

My Spanish is very poor though i can understand quite a lot of words- but i do like to recite some lines of Lorca's poem La Casada Infiel, in an impressive accent Y que yo me la llevé al río creyendo que era mozuela, pero tenía marido.

your love for clarice lispector made my little brazilian heart so happy. she's an absolute gem. and based on your other recommendations i think you would love machado de assis as well! especially dom casmurro (unreliable narrator, basically shakespeare's othello but if iago was othello's own paranoia and jealousy) and posthumous memoirs of brás cubas (a pessimistic dead man recalls his life, literally starts by dedicating it "to the worm who first gnawed on the cold flesh of my corpse")
