I’m glad you made this video. I’ve been listening to Rotogravure since 1981. I won’t say it’s the greatest album I’ve ever heard but it’s catchy, feels good hearing it and the three other guys are in it. A lot of people say this is a bad album, but I couldn’t disagree more. Unfortunately this is the last time Ringo made a good album as the ones that followed were plagued by very bad ideas and misfortune. I recently picked up an original UK pressing of the album really cheap while on vacation. The inner sleeve is of much better quality as well as the sound. Worth the trouble.

I was fortunate to see Ringo in October this year. Ringo at 83 ran around on stage and his voice sounded the same. Ringo sounded fantastic.

Hi. Ringo, Goodnight Vienna and Rotogravure are some solid Ringo albums, as is Beaucoups Of Blues.

Great video, the British copy I have on Polydor has the magnifying glass with it so you can read the graffiti on the door.

To hear how to pronounce the word “rotogravure,” just listen to the Irving Berlin song “Easter Parade” (preferably from the movie “Holiday Inn”)

George did not record on "Ringo's Rotogravure", due to Hepatitis.

I'm not a Ringo fan but I did like his 1973 album "Ringo". It was as close to a Beatles reunion as there ever was. "Ringo's Rotogravure" was one of those albums I listened to once and never again. I didn't like it at all. For me Ringo's best moment as a solo artist was his break out song "It Don't Come Easy". "Photograph" is a great song as well. George Harrison played a part in Ring's success as a solo artist.

Yes, I think it's generally agreed that "Ringo" was his high water mark. There was some (unfulfilled as we now know) expectation that it would get the boxed set treatment in 2023 on its 50th anniversary.

On one of his All Star Band stops in Vancouver BC I had the privilege of twice shouting out "Ringo!" to have him answer back "What's my name?" The correct pronunciation for Rootgravure is French-Root-Gra-View-R. But I love your concept of 100 'serious' albums. Obviously, the photograph of the 3 Saville Row Apple Records head office (where the roof concert was recorded), is an another iconic aspect of this album. 'Las Brisas,' Spanish for 'the breezes'... I'm going to have to put this album down on my turntable. Ringo IV... yeah, dreadful. Sitting a scantily clad model on his shoulders didn't do much for the music either. But he did recover, eventually, in the CD era. Surprise appearance in the gatefold Polaroids? Melissa Manchester!

This is actually my favorite Ringo album, although not his best. Also I’d like to dispel the common misconception that Ringo was out pacing the other Beatles with hits in the early seventies. From 1970-1975: Number one albums John 1 George 2 Paul 4 Ringo 0 Number one songs John 1 George 2 Paul 4 Ringo 2 Top 10 songs(10-2) George 1 John 4 Paul 6 Ringo 6

You're right. I was thinking about where George was mid-70s. Dark Horse/Extra Texture era. I misspoke. Thanks for catching that and I 100% agree on the Concert for George. Tears.

No albums SHOULD be in anyones record collection. Music is a matter of taste and no collection is any better or worse than any other either in size or content.

Ringo's Rotogravure??? Get the hell out of here! lol. if ever there was an album that didn't matter, it's Ringo's Rotogravure! 🤣 what alternative reality are YOU living in? 😅 If ever there was a video you could point to in order to prove that KZread is that absolute worst place to learn about music, it's a video that says Albums That Matter.....Ringo's Rotogravure! ("cooking! cooking! cooking in the kitchen of life!" yeeech. no wonder why John took a few years off!

ps next time call it "Albums I Happen To Like:Ringo's Rotogravure". or better yet: "Personal Guilty Pleasure: Ringo's Rotogravure". that's way more credible.

The idea of the "100 Albums" project is to pick less obvious LPs. "Ringo" (1973) would be obvious.

@@vinylfetishclub341 lol. then pick an album that "matters" but that is less obvious. not a generic, embarrassing, forgettable, in one ear and out the other piece of crap like Ringo's Rotogravure. (at least it's better than his next two) I wouldn't say any Ringo album "matters" (whatever that means), but if you wanted a less "obvious" one, you should have done Goodnight Vienna, Stop And Smell The Roses or even his xmas album, which is one of the best things he ever did post-Fabs. Sending people to sub-mediocrity like Rungo"s Rotogravure so that you can pose and feel like some kind of music authority is pathetic. For fuck sake, get some taste, kid. All the great "non obvious" albums that you could highlight, you arrive at Ringo's Rotagravure? 🤣 you like listening to him warbling Bruce Channel's Hey Baby? lol. Which half baked George song is on there, I Still Love You or the helpfully titled snoozer This Be Called A Song? 🤣 hey dude, wait till you hear a GOOD album, you're gonna love it. Ringo's Rotogravure was hilariously in the cutout bins almost immediately. you could that album for 2.99 (or less) for years, that's why it's so easy to find copies of it. (just so you know. That's how much it "mattered".)
