Every 5k car I like (Acura TL Chrysler 300 and every Toyota/Honda) is in the ball park of 89-135k in miles

Got on my car 628.000 km so over 350,000 miles so be confident !

Keep the fluids changed at recommended intervals. Keep good tires and breaks on the car, and take care of the car by washing and cleaning it out. It will last a long time if you take care of it.

My car has 750,000 miles and runs amazing 😉 plan on keeping her for another year or two

Any car made after 2000..... My 95 chevy k1500 truck has well over 200k miles and it has the original motor stuff.

Elderly owned vehicles at 100k feel new, regular person 100k feel half/life but "lead foot" 100k is a certified clunker.!!!

My 92 Accord LX has 273,000 original miles my 95 Prelude has 280,000 original miles on the original engine my 97 Accord EX has 369,000 miles on the body my 07 Camry has 203,900 original miles on the original engine all my cars are high mileage vehicles and they are still going strong I change my oil every 3,000 miles and I use full synthetic oil only flushing the radiator fluid every year and checking the fluids once a week can save the radiator from future overheating and also help the engine last longer not driving a car hard extends the reliability and lifespan of the engine also keeping upto date with maintenance like replacing old worn out suspension parts makes the ride quality better and smoother getting the car rustproof if you live where it snows prevent rust from building up all these things I listed above is the reason why my cars never die they just keep going and going I buy quality parts for my cars it doesn't necessarily have to be oem replacement parts good quality parts is just as good as oem parts from the dealership I spend money on my cars and take care of them also Japanese cars are the most reliable cars they're made to go pass 300,000 miles very easily I know my Camry is going to last a really long time Toyotas are strong reliable cars and fuel efficiency my Hondas never die because I keep them maintain I don't just drive my cars and not bother to repair it like the majority of people then complain and blame the car when it breaks and can't run most used cars I bought were not taking care of I usually always end up spending money to replace worn out parts from the previous owners

A 1990 car can have a 350 000 miles, you're talking about the seventies and early eighties. As from the late eighties, lasercutting was used in making engines. A 1988 Audi 80 can easily get to 450 000 kilometers.

Of course, the higher the mileage, the more failures are most likely to have happened. As it IS for sale, it is for sale for a reason. I bought my Volvo at 62 300 kilometers, myself, I hope to keep it to about 380 000 or more (petrol), but if you wouldn't know I am such a 'freak' in taking care of my car, you wouldn't buy it at 380 000. I wouldn't recommend doing it either. All I meant was, that a 30 000 km car can equally have been wasted as a 400 000 km car.

The early 1990s cars are the best. No electronics that you can't fix yourself; very good rustproofing, not engineered by the marketing department. New cars start rusting after 4 years. My 26 year old Volvo 850 with 220k miles isn't. Don't think my 2011 V70 will be as good when it reaches that age.

I'm looking at a truck it's a 2001 chevy s-10 it has 195,000 miles on it is that too much for a truck and I read online some people got there trucks up to 400,000 miles but I'm not sure if it's the engine that will last that long or the transmission?

JohnTaylor Pelletier don’t do it. It’s not a bad thing buying a car with higher miles, up to 90k miles or so but that’s really excessive. Even then. If it was maintained excellently then it might not be an issue but when buying a used high mileage car it’s sometimes hard to know if it was maintained how it should be.

If the chevy s10 has the 4.3 litre v6 you can expect to get alot of miles. The GMC Chevy truck small block motors can last a stupid amount of miles. My 95 chevy has well over 200k miles

I think he was talking about cars with barely to no computers in them which were more like mid 80s and before. Cars in the 90s are fine depending on what make and how well its been taken care of

by the time you hit 200,000 miles you probably will spend as much getting it fixed at it cost to buy it.

J Shysterr lies I've got a 1998 Dodge 1500 with the 5.9 with 430000 miles drive every day only thing replaced was the Radiator even if the motor needed to be replaced it would cost about 1500$ its cheaper to repair a car right and maintain it then to buy a new one that loses 30% of it value when you drive off a lot never invest in things with wheels that drop in value like a rock unless you want and can afford it

The stats don't lie. Efficiency adds longevity. Carburetors can't probably adjust for climate like a computer can, an old car is destined to get cylinder wash, sludge or knock. A lot of newer cars that don't last to 100k have turbos and are more picky about maintenance, which many people neglect. For the most part, a modern engine has the potential to last forever with proper maintenance. Automatic transmissions are a different story...

To have a transmission that does all of this for you, yet fits into the same tight package, is a huge feat. On top of this, constant renovation is needed to keep up with efficiency and power demands so the technology changes rapidly. That is why automatics tend to be less reliable and always the first part to go on a well maintained vehicle. That's why whenever you buy a car, used or new, you should be doinge extensive research on the transmission. However, manuals are so simple they tend to last forever, depending on driver skill.

@@spanishmontana6121 Fortunately you can learn a lot by driving the car. When test driving put it through all conditions. At light acceleration does it shift smooth? Cruising light throttle, floor it to force down shift. Was there an uncomfortable jerk? At 100k miles the fluid should have been changed at least once. Manufacturers who say it's not necessary are lying. If the driver hasn't changed it but it drives good, use that as a bargain point. Unfortunately an automatic transmission is the most complex part of a car and adds plenty of possible ticking time bombs. In general research that specific transmission. If it has a good record and it test drives good then I'd say it's alright.

by the time you hit 100,000 miles you will have spent at least $5000 in repairs, another 100,000 miles add on another $10,000. Most cars could go to a million miles it just depends on how much you want to spend on getting it fixed. Most cars are a money pit after 50,000 miles that's why its best to trade it in before 100,000 miles.
