Shane is a legend for giving a tribute to his father by tearing his quads.

I respectfully disagree, Shane McMahon tearing his quad and Snoop Dogg hitting the strangest People's Elbow ever is a certified Wrestlemania moment
That Theory vs. Cena match pissed me off something fierce. Also, you forgot to mention that the supposed rules of Tribal Combat was there was to be no interference, which was blatantly ignored.

No argument there especially since Jimmy interfering and helping Boring Lame retain the title aka continue his stranglehold/Reign of Terror was basically WWE continuing to shove Boring Lame down our throats and continue the Bloodline Saga even though most of us fans were sick and tired of both by this point.

Really impressed that Snoop managed to call that impromptu Miz match on the fly when Shane went down. A less committed celebrity would’ve just let the whole thing crash and burn but you can tell he’s a genuine fan and professional with how he at least tried to save the segment pretty quickly

What makes Jimmy's interference bad is that WWE declared that no one could interfere in the Tribal Combat match.

They should have had Jimmy try to interfere then the Rock come out and stop him leaving Roman on his own if they were going to try doing that (better yet not do anything with Jimmy, and had Silo try to interfere). Would have perfectly set up Roman vs Rock and would have made sense within the context given.
Pretty good year for WWE when even the worst match of the year was entertaining as hell, I’ve rewatched Shane tearing his quad so many times and it’s still funny
If you pause on 11:18 you can see one of Spanish commentators grinning like the Grinch at Shane McMahon blowing his quad 😭

Bianca vs Alexa literally aping the fight from Scary Movie 3 beat for beat was the worst wrestling moment in 2023.
I gotta say, even though you featured Bray Wyatt’s final match on here, you absolutely gave him so much respect for a man who was taken too soon, but he did leave a lot of great moments. RIP Bray Wyatt ✌️
The Miz night 2 match might be one of my favourites of all time. Watching Shane tear his quad live only for Snoop to call an audible had me in tears
The only good thing about number 1 is that Shane HOPEFULLY will learn his lesson and not steal the spotlight to another star I will legit never understand how they made an LA Mania without LA KNIGHT He was even on the posters too
@anonymousnate678
5 ай бұрын
Yeah LA Knight and Lashley not being on the Mania card with how much hype they both had around them at that time is still crazy to me. They could've even brought out a rising NXT star like Breaker, Hayes or Ilja instead of letting us watch a guy who hasn't had a good match in 20 years tear his quad lol.
@HoV326
5 ай бұрын
And there was an easy fix to it too. Bobby was going to fight Bray, but Bray was not available and Bobby said that he still intended on fighting. Meanwhile, Knight is pretty much carrying an angle about how an LA Mania needs to have LA Knight. Just have Bobby put on an open challenge and have Knight answer and the two have a match. The fact a solution like that for the two hottest stars not booked on the show was staring them right in the face and so seemingly willfully ignored is something I'm still getting over. But no. Instead we had to get a literal repeat of a segment that we got the night before, beat for beat. Only this time, with the added insanity of Shane blowing his quads and Snoop Dogg dropping an elbow on the Miz
@theharv1490

The Pitch Black match was bad, but not "second worst WWE match of the year" bad.
This is less “worst matches” and more “disappointing matches”
interesting that a lot of these need context to be bad rather than super awful like some other years, good job 2023 :D
Snoop suddenly deciding to wrestle is literally my favourite moment of the year and I will die on this hill
Riddle vs Gunther was OKAY lol.
Shane, getting injured, is karma for robbing the "Best in the World" title from Ziggler and Miz.
Can we all just sit for a moment and think about how The Miz is the first person to compete on both nights of WrestleMania and both were dumpster fires

"Perversely Hilarious" is the perfect description of the whole Miz/Shane/Snoop debacle at Mania.
The Jey / Jimmy swerve really killed the bloodline for me
I am still impressed how bad of a debut Gable Steveson’s match was. Steveson struggled to do basic moves at points, which he should not be doing with the amount of training he’s supposedly done. And yeah, the crowd was totally against him. The “you’re not Angle” chants really said a lot. They weren’t just against Gable Steveson as a wrestler, but also as a concept. They don’t want the next Kurt Angle. And even if they did, Steveson proved it wasn’t going to be him.
RIP Bray! I thought the match was decent
Adam trying not to laugh during the last one brought back all the hilarity of that mess (the match, not Adam).
It's a shame that Summerslam was as disappointing as it was otherwise this year would've been all solid PPVs. It had it's good moments like Iyo cashing in and another solid Rollins v Balor match but even Gunther v McIntyre didn't quite hit like I was expecting it to. Then Ronda ending this run with a snoozer and that awful Tribal Combat match just pulled my opinion of that show down too much.

We love you Bray, RIP.
I was at that Barron Corbin/Gable Steveson match, before his music hit the boos were raining down. A guy behind me yelled r@pist, was sitting next to the ramp so Gable probably heard him.
gunther vs matt riddle was one of my favourite matches of the year lol
Tribal combat specifically said no bloodline interference then solo just showed up halfway through and nothing happend
Ronda vs shayna mma fight at summer slam was just a awful match but it's a good thing ronda gone and shayna teaming with zoey and I'm hoping they win the woman tag team titles in the near maybe couple of months or even better at maina
It's terrible that Shane injured himself, especially in such a fashion, but that doesn't change the fact that it was hilarious to watch. It had perfect comedic timing, to the point that for a second, I was confused as to whether it was part of the show or not. It also further made Miz look like the face being unfairly ganged up on, rather than the heel being brought to well-deserved justice (for... actually, I have no idea what he supposedly did to deserve any of this), as he stood there, restraining his rightful anger to let the docs check on Shane, only for Snoop to blindside him.
The worked MMA match always bothered me. Even on paper, it's a terrible idea. You just end up getting the worst of both worlds. MMA doesn't have the storytelling and even pacing of pro wrestling, and pro wrestling doesn't have the intensity and seriousness of MMA. In the end, you get a slow, clunky, awkward looking product. Those two probably would have done alright in a regular wrestling match.
Once we were approaching the top five I was seriously wondering if Bray’s last match should be included. It should’ve. Even though I’m surprised it’s technically the worst match of the year (I can’t fault Snoop/Miz) you worded it in a way that even Wyatt’s biggest supporters couldn’t argue with.

AUSTIN THEORY VS JOHN CENA WAS AWFUL

I'm apparently the one person who thought the mountain dew pitch black match was great
I was pissed at the Jimmy VS Jay thing, until I saw an interview with the both of them. This is their dream. They have ALWAYS wanted to go against each other in WM.
I mean... The Tribal Combat brought more fun out of Jimmy as the "Bad Twin" now, but yeah... I still don't get why he's out here running with the family that took him out... And STILL got the theme song saying he's splitting from his family!! Why give him those lyrics!? I do believe his singles theme is STILL that.
I remember being in the crowd and was totally confused during the Shane vs miz match. No one in my section had any idea what happened
Gunther slapping the piss out of riddles foot was badass
I've been waiting for this
#10... let's think here: Saudi show, women in a match just over a minute, a man taking most of the attention by running screen. Nope, makes perfect sense.
Undeserved #1 spot, because the comedy factor provided at least some form of entertainment (just listen to Adams giggling), unlike something like #5, which was just plain terrible in every way.
Couldve lumped the Miz mania stuff into one entry I feel.
As someone who was at the Great American Bash, there was hype for it, but it just would never work. The crowd relentlessly booed Steveson and damn near made Corbin look like 1998 Austin through all the love for him.
Okay but snoop/shane vs miz should also be number one on the best matches of 2023 as well.
I was there and saw it live the worst match of the year 😂, snoop did a great job improvising
Brock and Bobby wrestled at the 2022 Royal Rumble the same one where Roman interfered and made Bobby win and the same one where Roman defended his title against Seth and also it being known for two really bad Rumbles
it is never funny when a wrestler gets injured. but it was freaking hilarious to hear cole say, "SHANE STILL GOT IT!!!" right as he tears his quad.
This list should be called the biggest disappointments or 10 matches that didn't live up to the hype, not the worst, some of these were OK.
Considering what a mess #01 is, Pacitti has every right to laugh. Besides, he is "fun" and a "party boy".
I don't get the disdain for Bray's last match. It was honestly good. I like the neon light look, the wrestling was decent, and Uncle Howdy hits one of the coldest elbow drops ever! It was a honestly good time that got the boys popping hard
Oh no, you left out Rhea Ripley vs Maxinne Dupri, that match worse than Sheamus vs Daniel Bryan at Wrestlemania 28
I liked the pitch black match.

Honorable mentions: Brock VS Omos and the Halloween match between Chelsea and Nattie.
I will not have you sully the great name of snoop doggy Dogg. He hit the most electrifying move in all of sports entertainment, the snoopy elbow
Gable vs. Corbin should've been higher. Big blip in what has been a great year for NXT
Thanks Cultaholic Wrestling
Rhipley vs Natalya was a decent squash, their competitive match few weeks later was made better because of it.
They could’ve saved the “Jimmy turns on Jey” thing by having Jimmy’s reason being that he was the one who defied Roman first, he was the one who broke Jey out of Roman’s control, he was the one who told Roman from the start he wasn’t going to be his bitch, and he’s the one who should’ve fought Roman.
Watching the pitch black match in person I’ll give it one thing. That howdy spot with the pyro looked insane from my seat

Probably helped that you couldn't see Howdy land a mile away from Knight's body
That Jey Vs Roman match completely wrecked the Bloodline storyline which was the hottest thing at the time. Very worthy of being on this list for that reason. Hopefully things get on track for Wrestlemania season
The funny thing about Shana vs ronda is that in money in bank you could tell easily Shana was betraying Ronda cause her outfit was inspired by Horus from warhammer 40k
I think Jimmy and jeys whole thing is mastermind jealousy. Jimmy betrayed the bloodline, helped Jey win at mitb so Roman would be pissed. Then betrayed jey, so he could be the only twin in the bloodline giving him more spotlight
They might as well call this "Worst PPV matches of 2023" since there's no Raw, SmackDown or NXT matches
You know the year was great when you can put somzthing like Gunther vs Riddle on the worst match list
Sure from a wrestling standpoint the Miz vs Shane match was a disaster, but from an entertainment standpoint it was absolute gold. I'm pretty sure I've watched that match again more times than any other match this year lmao

I think you’re right about it being a good match to start a show. The problem is that starting the show off right wasn’t the only objective. The intent was to get Theory to the next level, and unfortunately the match didn’t accomplish that. The guy is currently treading water after beating John Cena at WrestleMania. That’s a failure.
On one hand, that Shane v. Miz match is abysmal, but I'd struggle even putting that on the list. It was barely even a match, and the improvisation from non-wrestler Snoop Dogg was pretty commendable. I also can't put it as the worst, simply because Snoop's horrible elbow drop made me laugh my ass off. If the goal was to entertain, I'd say they accomplished it pretty well.
if you say Jimmy turning on Jey made no sense, you clearly don't understand or watch the product.
the bray wyatt match really was a disservice to a great talent.
Id say that most of these matches could be described as just "ok". (Shane immediately tearing his quad to keep the family tradition alive and snoop wrestling was a great mania moment) The only ones that id say were REALLY bad were gable/baron, shayna/rousey, and that godawful theory/cena match. Thank god they gave up on pushing theory.
Shane vs miz is the greatest wrestlermania moment ever. I still laugh about it.😂
Austin Theory vs. John Cena was the highlight [and the end] of Theory's [WWE] career in hindsight
The Theory/Cena match did NO ONE any favors & Austin hasn't really recovered from that....even though he won. Bazler/Rousey would've worked if Shanya got a FLASH KO at the beginning of the match.
Cena vs Theory was honestly worse than snoop
I think the random "Horsewomen of the MMA" feud and even-more-random-"face"-turn from Shayna came about due to Ronda's words about wrestling/the WWE and she was already eagerly on her way out.... So yeah, they gave Shayna a big hype over her friend for pretty much nothing. Just to fart on Rousey on the way out I guess.... Neat 😂
Another opportunity to say the triple threat at summerslam didnt hit the sides.
That Cody vs Roman ending has aged pretty well huh?😂😂
Corbin/Steveson was my vote for worst match of 2023, the worst debut of all time and so many little things that made it a crap storm. At least it gave us a legendary Corbin promo off the back of it! Also, Miz/Shane & Snoop Dog goes in the so bad it’s good category, it’s bad but I couldn’t stop laughing when Shane appeared, injured himself and the Snoop called it in the ring better than Alvarez did that one time
The worst thing about number 10 was it meant He was back 😢
No WAY #1 was the worst. It might've been short and objectively a bad pro-wrestling match, but it was very much the most entertaining!
This should have been easy. Every Roman Reigns match then Theory/Cena at #1.
The real winner of 2023: John Cena's hair dye.
