This is the first time I've ever had that "I played this when I was a child and I loved it" experience that people often comment on Worst Games Ever. I played hours and hours of Winter Olympics 98 on the N64 when I was 7 or 8. I didn't even have a memory cartridge so I used to unlock the events again and again every time I played it.

Sega Touring Car has two bonus tracks, a strange half-throttle button option, and a Direct 3D graphics patch. The Saturn version has two unlockable Sega Rally cars, though I'm not sure if they made it to the PC port.

I used to love watching Pret Xampras play when I was young. Also the C: Contra Adventure game looks cool as hell. Would like to see Worst Games Ever play that one and The Fifth Element game.

Nailed that, team. Funny and well researched script, Ashton's personal VO style is coming together *beautifully*, and the TJ edits these days are consistently top drawer. Minus one star for lack of war crimes.

I agree she fits in well, i don't know if she has the personality or voice/tone/delivery for these lists or some of the video series as she's my least favorite to listen to by a good margin, but i think she does great on the podcast and just needs more time to hone her craft

@@jimon8998 yeah she also talks a little too fast and it sounds like she is mumbling instead of annunciating her words. I agree about the delivery, while the guys change their tone and deliver the dry sarcasm well her voice or tone never changes throughout the entire video and it comes off like she's bored since she's so monotone and it diminishes her delivery of "one liners" but when she's on the podcasts and shows she's much better. Wish her all the best though

Wow I completely forgot G.A.S.P. I know I owned it but all I can remember is one of the characters was a gray zombie thing and one of the areas was a flooded office I think...

"Deadly Arts? More like.. Deadly Farts!" *farting sounds The facepalming at the end really killed me

I liked the 98 Olympics for N64.

Industry Giant actually doing really well and getting a sequel was such a great plot twist

My fav gaming year! But yeah, of course there are also some bad games. I actually used to enjoy Industry Giant, but Industry Giant II is so, so much better. No Extreme Paintbrawl though? That is quite the surprise.

Something feels different about the sports time in this video, but I can't quite put my finger on it...

"The only thing players are really after is the thrill of driving obscenely expensive cars" Not really - there's an insane amount of fun to be had taking regular cars, hot hatches and more, and taking them to limits you just can't reach on a road. One of my favourite things in Gran Turismo is taking an Alfa Romeo 147 or a Seat Ibiza Cupra and going 'round the track, improving it and customising it.

So this was a rough year for racing/sports games 🥶

600th like. Cool. You know what else helps a good racing game besides graphics, cars and courses? Half decent crashes.

I had gt 64. I played it for about 5 mins trying to race but finding out I had to qualify. Turned it off and never played it again.

The surprising financial success of industry giant despite the negative press is maybe not that surprising given the fact that the press in the target market (the german speaking) wasn't negative at all and praised the game quite a lot.

Also after reading through the comments, it appears that the lady who does the presenting is new.. which took me by surprise as I think she is very good

Yes! Ashton's first "if you want to get serious about this" was spot on.

I knew Batman and Robin was gonna make to the list, while it perfectly captures the movies atmosphere and offers a large world for us to explore the controls are atrcious, the visuals are plain bad even for an early 3d open world game and the draw distance is so poor.

I really like this series of videos. For some of these games, I think "Oh, this wasn't THAT bad, was it? Seems like the critics were off the mark here..." and then I'll go and try the game and it's always "Yikes... I guess I was the one off the mark here...".

Mmmmm.. I've noticed that a lot of golluf games have either too easy or too hard putting mechanics. My own personal favourite is still the Playstation version of 'Everybody's Golf.' That just seems to strike a good balance in every type of shot for me.

Batman and Robin is definitely not a horrible game, as everyone one makes it out to be, as a matter of a fact, this game is quite ambitious for it's open world concept and time which really matters.

How does "The Fifth Element" make it to no. 1 here? I own that game for PS1 ever since I was a kid and I loved and still love it as much as the legendary movie. It is certainly no masterpiece, that's for sure, but it is very well playable and entertaining and even stays relatively close to the movies plot (a rarity for that time) and has some added in cutscenes directly from the movie. I'd say it's a solid 70%, maybe even cratching the 75, but that low and number 1 on the worst game list? Like WTF?!

All I know is that at absolutely NO POINT in the history of human existence has anyone ever uttered the statement "DUUUUDE!! You totally have to play 'Nagano Winter Olympics '98'! That game is the s**t, bro!" Nobody ever said that. Ever. At all.

Actually G.A.S.P!! Did have one thing to set it apart from other fighters and that was character creation. This was actually really involved and I'd love to see something like this but with a half fighting engine. Your fighter would start with only basic punches and kicks and have to pick an official character as a sensei. Then every time you won a fight/challenge (you could change your sensei anytime outside of combat and combat challenges would increase in difficulty) you would be able to pick a move from their arsenal for your character to learn. Only once you had a full moves list could you use your character in other modes. Unfortunately while the character moves were entirely up to the player, you had very little control over the look of your character. There were about 20 pre-made character models with about 4 colour schemes each to choose from and no further customisation could be done. And of course the actual fighting engine was unresponsive and clunky. It's disappointing because the bare bones of something with potential were there, and I've never seen anything quite like it in a fighting game since. That idea of taking a character with 0 skill and building them slowly into a character worthy of a prestigious tournament. The score is still pretty accurate in my opinion though. It really didn't play well.
