Stump planars have large reduction gear boxes go spin the bit alot slower. Your auger head unit really can provide the torque needed to spin larger bits. The flow really isnt the bottle neck its the auger motor

I didn’t know you had them

Yeah I got them about a month and half ago but couldn’t use them until I fixed a hose on the Mecalac.

Bring it down to Arkansas and see what it does in flint rock or limestone

Hmmm, I was expecting a bit more oomph from the 8MCR. What flow rate and psi does the 8MCR provide for that setup? Can you adjust the flow and/or psi settings?

The flow rate is 26 GPM which I agree is pretty slow compared to a skid loader but it’s 4000 psi You can adjust the flow rate but sadly not the psi I have it turned up all the way for my auger setting.

I was hoping for more also but that’s all it had. 😊

I’ll compare the 8MCR to Kubota for specs on the auxiliary systems 8MCR: 26 gpm, 4000 psi, 16,000 lbs 75 hp no def SVL 75: 29 gpm, 3200 psi, 9,500 lbs 75 hp no def SVL 95: 40 gpm, 3550 psi, 12,000 lbs 95 hp takes def

@@benjijestice I looked at a few other videos and was seeing similar performance amongst this class of equipment. Seems like the 10" planer is recommended for this size and 14" recommended for larger excavators. Specs for 10MCR looks like it would be a better match for the 14" but with a huge jump in excavator cost, of course. Where feasible, I'm leaning more toward knocking a tree over and pulling the root ball up with it and filling in the hole and save the stump planer for the few odd jobs. @cotontop3 has a fairly recent series of land clearing videos where he is knocking over a lot of good sized trees with his kx057. And I like his Rotobec mini-rake grapple. I really like the Mecalac MCRs and MWRs, especially how compact their booms are. Kind of leaning a bit more toward the 7MWR for better ground speed travel but kicker is going to be lifting capacity as I want something to move large oak logs through my forest and onto my sawmill to mill for timber framing along with other property and road maintenance tasks. And maybe a few small side jobs at some point. A 140hp Merlo MultiFarmer 34.7 CS with load sensing front boom, rear 108 hp PTO, and 3-point hitch probably makes more sense and is priced in the same ballpark as a decently kitted out 6MCR but and can lift 7500 lbs to 22 feet or so which would work better for raising timber frames and be handy for other tasks. I'm not keen on dealing with DPF, DEF, etc so I've been looking at equipment at ~75HP and under. Preferably with just DOC. Have you picked up and moved any really long and really heavy logs with your 8MCR? I need to be able to pick up 3500-4500 pound logs, maybe heavier. Most will be less than that but I want to try for two 35 foot long 8x10 timbers and five 27 foot long 8x10 timbers for my plates instead of scarfing together some shorter timbers - assuming I have suitable trees on my property.

I have a 279d3 skid with high flow and it’s very similar performance with the 14” as I can tell from the video. I just let it spin a little slower and it tends to do ok with the huge madrones, firs and tan oaks we have near me. The live oaks are a bit more problematic and I typically to get let low as possible with the saw. Be careful moving it if you think the lead screw it tight in there as I have snapped one off (300$ replacement). Have you tried the screw splitter with the auger¿ so much fun splitting huge logs with that.
