Scalebound hurts still, and an original style of time splitters was what i was waiting for 10+ years

I had never heard of Spiderman: The Great Web before now, but as soon as I heard the words "multiplayer live service" I was immediately elated that it's been canceled.

And yet Forspoken was released. What a world.

I still remember that obscure PS2 game - where you played as a female protagonist and a 🐉 … you could play as both in the open world… it was pretty amazing game mechanics at the time!

Completely agree with The Last of Us Online and Naughty Dog's reasoning makes sense. No one wants them to a multiplayer only studio. I just wish they'd made the decision 4 years earlier.

It just sucks because of all the wasted time on that project. I really don’t understand why they just cancelled it instead of release it as a multiplayer, non-live service game. We use to get full priced multiplayer games, like Left 4 Dead. Multiplayer doesn’t have to mean live service. I’m torn on this one. Could have been fun, but we’ll never know and they wasted a lot of time and money

Scalebound as a strictly single player game would be nice. Just a guy and a dragon wrecking things in an action-RPG setting. Sounds good. Platinum games was stretched too far with it though.

The Great Web is a great concept! For a single-player game with optional online mode. While not *technically* a cancelled game since it evolved, I would still welcome Final Fantasy Versus XIII.

Not Scalebound. They should've kept that one. As for Too Human, that one did not deserve to fail, it only failed because Silicon Knights wanted to keep stroking their ego rather than admitting they screwed up.

I'm a big fan of Fable and Fable Legends did not look like a Fable game I wanted to play. I did pick up the art book for cheap though and the art is really nice, so something good did come of it.

What's really cool about Innersloth (Among Us) is they formed Outersloth to help fund other indie games. It's nice to see devs who made it big share the wealth and raise everybody up.

Reason scalebound hurt I think is Xbox needed games at that time and the one they had people talking about they canceled it

The Scalebound trailer was one of the main reasons I started playing video games, brought myself a used console and some games I was interested in, excited for when it would come out. Huge dragon lover and while never got that game have several games I have played and love.

I'm not gonna lie that spiderman getting cancelled hurt my soul a lil bit..., but I agree if we keep getting AAA single player games from insomniac I'm all for it

The Time splitters 2 remake literally came out. it “never saw the light of day” it was literally fully complete and included with home front the revolution. You can literally unlock the full remake.

I really don’t understand how Sony/naughty dog managed to work for years and near completion on a live service game, only for them to then realise that live service means you have to keep working on it after release… that’s literally what live service is ffs 🤦‍♂️😂

As much as I loved Insomniac's Spider-Man game, lashing a developer of their caliber to a single live service would be a mistake. I'd much rather them work on single-player campaigns like Wolverine and whatever other IPs Sony has lined up for them.

Too Human still hurts. Not because of the game itself, but because I once applied to work at Silicon Knights in my home town and had high hopes of being hired only to be rejected due to its impending closure.

Insomniac canceling "The great Web" was honestly one of the best decisions they ever made, some fans might be disappointed but they did us a favor, because it would've sucked for sure.🤔

So glad companies are listening. Cause not everyone wants live service games. Cause I'm so burned out on them.

I honestly don't know any other person who played Too Human. When i was a kid/teen I loved it. Controls were a bit odd, but the concept was good

I really want Scalebound. I've always wanted a dragon game where I'm friends with a dragon and I battle alongside them.

I followed the whole Epic vs. Silicon Knights story and you've completely misrepresented it in this video. SK sued Epic and when their expert failed to give a proper punitive figure, Epic countersued SK into oblivion. The studio shut down and gave or sold its IPs to other companies. They certainly didn't "decide to cut their losses." It's a huge shame because some of us really enjoyed Too Human and the Legacy of Kain games.

In regards to Spider-Man the great web multiplayer doesn’t have to mean live service motto. It could’ve just been a co op story mode with drop in drop out

The great web as a live service wouldve been something i wouldnt have gotten into, it as a multi-player mode attached to a game wouldve been welcomed though.

I think the spider man one should have been reduced to a multi player mode for spider man 2 or a future game

I didn't pick up tlou part 2 when it originally released because I figured I would pick it up a bit cheaper a few months later when the multiplayer came out. Joke was on me all I got for waiting was Joel's story spoiled. No one asked Naughty Dog for a live service game. To say this was why they had to cancel it is such a cop out. A sequel to factions wouldn't mean the end to them making single player games. They haven't supported the original factions multiplayer in years, and haven't needed to (other than patching out a few exploits) because they built it solid, and that still has a community of players all these years later. Multiplayer exists without live service and that's how it usually was before 2019. The fact is Naughty Dog straight up promised when they originally released part 2 without factions 2 that we would one day be able to play the multiplayer they were working on. Then they decided to expand the multiplayer more and after years of working on it decided to make it into live service even though it hadn't been built for live service so that was like 5 years down the drain to try to make what started as a basic multiplayer addition to the main game "live service". I'm disgusted with Naughty Dog after all the cash grab remakes remasters, then cancelling the multiplayer they could have released originally and updated over time(exactly what happened with the 1st factions multiplayer). If you think Naughty Dog is about single player narratives any more then the joke is on you, they are only about money.

The gonna lie, *Call of Doom* is a pretty cool sounding title. *Better* than a vaguely Doom flavored CoD clone deserves. Maybe someone at Id could put Call of Doom to good use. Doom/Cthulu crossover? Or a bizarre retelling of Doom as a JRPG? ... I have eclectic tastes. XP

The pitch for The Great Web was a bit more like GTA Online than one of the other games mentioned and I'm still heartbroken that it's not happening. That said, I can completely understand that Insomniac didn't want to be locked in to a multiplayer game when their single player games keep hitting it out of the park. I wonder if it would have been possible to put another studio on the job.

Oh and Platinum Games was actually taking funding from Microsoft and funding other games with it too but you know

Fable Legends was based around Windows Glass, the smart phone Microsoft was developing at the time. It's fate was tied in with Glass, which was scrapped at the same time. Microsoft wanted to wash their hands of the mess. The previous Fable Journey was in the same boat with Xbox's video motion-control system. Lionhead Studios was the fallguy when it came to Microsoft pushing out new gaming technology.

To me this video sounds like everyone have forgot that there can be mp without live service witch makes me kinda sad...

We got to play the Great web beta in Sydney, Australia and let me tell you, that game doesn’t belong on this list. I was disappointed that Spider-Man 2 didn’t bring some of the combat improvements they had in the works for the great web

Good choice to make this video. Often we criticize publishers but we have to admit sometimes they are right.

I played a Batman Begins game but it wasn't open world. You could interrogate thugs holding on to beams in a building using a grapple gun but it was just a button press to pull them up & a button to interrogate or knock them out if I remember right as your reputation meter built up they eventually saw him as the version that Scarecrow saw I don't know if it did anything special. The combat was pretty simple from what I remember it's been years though after each time beating the game you could unlock a suit it got repetitive though & nowhere near as cool an open world game would have been or the Arkham games.

I would love to see a last of us games based on different countries prospectives

A bit sad about Too Human 2 and 3 because I feel like it had a lot of potential and I really enjoyed it but it wasn't like a traditionally good game. I think if they got another stab at it they could have made something really good though.

The Unreal Engine 4 unfamiliarity excuse is hogwash. Platinum had no such issues with Nier: Automata, a game they were developing at the same time as Scalebound. Oh, and Microsoft's legendary quality control assurance allowed Sumo Digital to release Crackdown 3 in beta state and 343 to put out an alpha state Master Chief Collection that gen. So I can't even imagine how terrible beta Scalebound had to be to get canceled.

I enjoyed the free version of the full Too Human game on Xbox One and it's originality. It's colourful, has a phenomenal weapons system, and pretty unique setting. Now we just get hero shooter after live service after boring nothing games!

The cancelation of Scalebound was part of my reason for leaving Xbox. 2 years I was looking forward to that game. While I do understand why, I would have been satisfied waiting another few years for it as well. Hopefully the project gets greenlite for another try.

The only game that was to be and loved got cancelled WAAS, BEYOND good and evil 2

i really would have liked actually a third person time splitters thing, fortnite itself is too kid friendly and lacks maturity in their skins and things kinda sad even their pretty dam good take on survival mode is a lego thing sigh....
