Thinking I just might! :)
Alot of greats tips i was unaware of! One other thing super useful for eqrly game is splitting your military when they gain a pop while you are exploring, particularly because event tiles can spawn after every unit movement (so always move 1 tile at a time)
Thanks a lot for these tips! I thought at first I'd be able to steamroll through everything being an "ok" civ player but the game introduces some new things that make stuff a bit more difficult, like choosing your starting settlement position is so much more important than ever, since strategic resources are more scarce, kind of forcing you to trade and making you feel the weight of wars. Specially when one of your suppliers is being threatened... lol I think the game is still lacking a bit in comparison of super polished 4X games like Civ5, but it has a lot of potential, the whole basis of it is incredible and can't wait to see more civs and systems added to it. Plus mod support? Yes, please.
Love that avatar big fella, and the training vid from earlier. DUDE YOU IZ GETTING JACKED!
Excited to play this one. Thanks for covering it. You're always on top of the new stuff. Great job Sparty!

I do what I can big daddy Brando!! :D
Probably the biggest tip I can give, especially for a militaristic/expansionist approach is: you can ransack cities that you conquer (independent people/other nation) while you yourself own it and that frees the sector, next turn use the same unit to build an outpost in the sector, keeping you under the city cap penalty. The best approach is to have a city merge with 4-5 surrounding outposts, creating bigger and more efficient cities, pumping out buildings in 2-3 turns max. I usually go for Influence builds since you need tons of it to merge cities and sectors. I would say always prioritize food, sprinkle in some improvement buildings and you get the ball going. Also, I found that most of the time, if it's a 75%favourable fight, auto-resolve it instead of manually fighting, usually troops are left with much more HP from autoresolve than you can manage manually. If it's even odds, go with manual and you usually can crush them pretty easily. I am not playing on the hardest difficulty though.

Oh and 1 more thing, always hunt in the neolithic era, the gains of experience and resources can really ramp up your starting position.
Gonna start playing this tonite so excited. Also didn't expect this I thought I was just gonna have to only have potato to watch for this

I agree, civ 6 is so linear compared to this game.
Played this for some 30+ hours and now and I have literally thousands in Civ so I guess I can comment a bit on this. I don't think you should focus too much on what specific affinity the cultures you pick are because ultimately you kind of want to do a bit of everything when it comes to era stars in this game anyway. Going all-in on any one type of era star is never going to be as rewarding overall, and quite frankly it's pretty easy to get a bit of everything just by being expansive, building up your cities and skirmishing with one or two of your neighbours sometimes. So if you're going to be getting all kinds of stars anyway then regardless of which type you're getting extra fame from it'll work out for you either way. There's also the cooldown based faction ability that affinities provide but I don't find them super impactful so it's more of a minor bonus than anything The things that really make a culture stand out though is the legacy trait and the emblematic district. The legacy traits can be quite powerful but most importantly they are permanent: they last the whole game even after you've switched culture later so it's a really strong long-term investment. And while the unique districts are only available in that particular era, they are generally extremely powerful in terms of yields so you usually want to build them in almost every region asap anyway and it's gonna be a big power spike Unique units can also be nice if you're planning on going to war soon, but there will always be other good generic options as well so I wouldn't normally pick a culture based on that first and foremost
Great game, great tips! Your avatar looks cool as well!

I shall CONSULT THE BROS
I do like this game so far! I've played around 20h now since the launch and damn i got addicted to it. Especially that moment when it's just "one more turn...". Great tips for beginners, especially war support, i think for many new players this might be confusing! That's how my first war out of nowhere happened lol. Personally i hope the faith system and diplomacy will see further enhancement in the game. Right now it's hard to ask another faction to war against your enemy, faith so far doesn't seem to do much besides giving you certain bonuses, giving you or your enemy a manner to try and fight them, because one of your religions is spreading to the other. Either way a great new addition to strategy games genre and for me personally it's better than Civ5 or Civ6. Of course that is just a mere personal preference i suppose.
NGL you earned a sub like and comment just from the first tip!
Great Job! Suggestions for new videos: What Crusaders King 3 can learn with Humankind! Maybe a "Fama" point system for shorter Multiplayer or even a advanced Combate system.... Thx, Moe
Thanks for the tips and the beginner guide. I put tons of hours in the game and still struggled. This cleared it all up.

It's seriously a lot of fun. I was unsure about whether to get this because of the mixed reviews but I'm really glad I did. Still have absolutely no clue what I am doing but it's fun to take down large Mammoths

@@italianspartacus Interesting. I enjoyed Civ but I see clearly how different this is. Somebody even mentioned that they would just prefer to go and play the latest Civ. It's nonsense. They are miles apart. Do you have a video on how soon you should turn settlements into cities? I have to admit I'm totally confused by the game. When I have enough fame to make another settlement sometimes it won't let me place it because it's not in my territory but I can't clearly see what is my territory. I'm confident it's really obvious and I'm just an idiot
@italianspartacus
2 жыл бұрын
If you scroll out, you should see the borders - the white, dotted, horizontal lines means it's not your territory. The vertical dotted lines that are your faction's color should be your territory. As for when to turn serttlements into cities, i do not! That'll be dependent upon how many cities you have. I can make such a video if you'd like :) Perhaps a City Management one? I'm trying to decide what subjects to cover, but it'll depend heavily upon how well this does and if the game picks up steam. I'm also covering King's Bounty 2 which comes out on the 24th!
After a couple play through I noticed that scouts on auto, at some point, kind of just get stuck in a loop in a corner. where for some reason they won't move out of two or three squares and I would have to manually do it.
@italianspartacus
2 жыл бұрын
OH shit! I didn't have that issue, but - to be fair - I never let them get TOO far from my border because I was trying to be more militaristic
@thomasfleming8131
2 жыл бұрын
Yeah, same with boats, though even faster. I think auto-explore only really works early on and once your continent is mostly discovered it seems to stop working.
@italianspartacus
2 жыл бұрын
Which I suppose is fair, but since discovery events respawn in random spots, that's kind of annoying
Auto-explore has to be nerfed for human and CPU, because as it is it's absolutely broken. It doesn't just randomly explore, but bee-lines to curiosities you can't see. I've seen one tribe just cut back and forth across a single territory, because it kept spawning stuff there. It should operate more like Civ's where it only looks at what's in front of it and prioritizes by visibility. Given the elevation is such a central part of the map, I'm surprised this isn't already the case.
Thanks man, i needed this, bought the game today!

I've played this game for 5 days straight and literally got super addicted. I was playing this ALL DAY ALL NIGHT every single day. It got really boring because I keep on repeating on what I do now I wanna make sure to spice it up and make it interesting or even difficult for me, and that's truly the way to go, I guess its just human nature to go for the easy route but making things difficult and interesting and playing other cultures etc. is what makes it enjoyable in the first place, this is my first ever game I played like this and im usually the type of person to skip all the tutorial and just start playing, I realized this game I need to learn more about, so now I wanna try going for a pacifist, industrial route focusing on science then build a nuclear warhead to destroy everything and anything in the face of the planet earth.
Thanks

Every time I play on normal level, quite quickly a neighbour will start to influence one of my settlements. The end up attacking me and winning that city. It's really quite frustrating. I've re-started about 8 times now. I have been choosing the Babylonians and want to take the Science route, but then I have no army to defence myself!

Try building some of the infrastructrure buildings that increase your influence there - religion also helps, surrounding outposts, basically having a large presence in your existing sphere of influence!

@@italianspartacus Thank you so much for getting back to me. I shall adopt your approach!!
2 things i don't like so far is that there is no unlimited turns since it all ends after 300 turns. the second is the panning speed since there is no mini map to focus where to go, so panning is very very slow and it makes it harder to go around the map. Otherwise its so far one of the best 4x games ive played so far ive actually done combat something i never do in a civ style game. the combat can be wonky at times but otherwise its great.

I haven't played these types of games. Simple reason, that unhistorical element - world maps.
The resource icons are quite confusing. I wish they fixed it to a more reasonable understanding.
@italianspartacus
2 жыл бұрын
So the resources are divided into those resource nodes or the luxurious resources. Resource nodes are just a triangle, while the luxurious resources are diamonds. Does that help?
@nezihlevent1333
2 жыл бұрын
@@italianspartacus I mean the icons :) It is not quite clear to understand them, while in the trade diplomacy section. There are 10s of resources but very small icons to show them.
One thing that I'm having trouble figuring out (granted, I haven't looked to hard into what's happening) but the AI claimed a resource (dyes I think) that was boardering my territory, I demanded it and they give it to me and then it was immediately sold to another AI. Not sure why or how that happened. I don't need the money, I'm a merchant empire so I'm swimming in the gold right now, I'd rather have a luxury resource going to my people to enjoy instead.
@Kuddochan
2 жыл бұрын
You’re not giving away luxuries, you’re selling access to them. You’ll both have it in that case. As long as you have luxury trade treaties with any faction then they can buy access to your resources whenever they want by paying you gold. But that doesn’t mean you lose it yourself, they’ll just have it as well
@tilarium2
2 жыл бұрын
@@Kuddochan Ah OK! That's more logical then the Civ way where you give it up completely. The game should do a better job of explaining that.
Would be nice if you have turned game music down or off in main menu, it's hard to hear you. Rushing to ancient era is NOT a good tip. Neolithic era gives you huge amount of possibilities to capture large landmasses with your outposts while scouting around, as your SCOUTS spawn other SCOUTS right in the middle of nowhere, during their movement. Later you can pick the best outpost to promote to a city, and instantly attach several regions to it (if you want/need it).

@ClanHawkins

Civics are all linked to triggers in your society. For example you get to consider the military training after you have enough troops active. You will never trigger some religious civics until your religion interacts with people of other faiths. No civic seems random but there are semi logical yet hidden triggers.

Hi personally am not a fan (loath) of the war support system.. I have to conquer the entire civ over and over and over again do to "forced surrender screen" where they come to surrender.. but then I have to give them a lot back and keep conquering them over and over... why do they get to negotiate if I have literally taken every city.. what a waste of time.
Haha oh no 4 minutes in i already regret something I did. I changed some AI profiles based on looks for some diversity. Didn’t even look at their difficulties, no wonder I’m last :/
To bad about remaining on xbox version.

I wholeheartedly disagree the tutorial is terrible. Not voiced AT ALL and no specific scenario to play through only "as you go" tips its one of the worst tutorials I have skipped through in a while.
pass, too many abstract concepts to make it addictive. Back to CIV 5
