A totally uknown occurance of Smart referee happened on MAIN EVENT of all shows once. I watched it like 10 times in my life but i stumbled into this masterpiece. Twin Magic happens. The referee touches both bella's forhead. And yell "you're sweating! you're the legal one". What an IQ!

One of the funniest ones from back during the Attitude Era, Earl Hebner screwed Triple H out of his title in a random unscheduled Raw match against Jericho. Triple H tried to bully Hebner and shoves him and Hebner retaliates with the fastest 3 count ever and runs out of the ring with Jericho and the belt lol

incredible to think that because kurt angle was more well known it would have destroyed his image to lose to daniel puder, despite the fact that to call him an "accomplished fight" is an understatement considering in his one amateur wrestling tournament he competed in, he won after breaking his hand, and has never lost in an mma cage. kurt angle is olympic gold and one of the best, but puder is genuinely a terrifying person to face off against, the guy is incredibly under-rated

The refs more than not are unsung heroes in the business Whether storyline, just doing the job asked or even acting as the first to make tough calls (throwing up the X for example), while its fun to poke fun at times, they are just as important to the business as the wrestlers are

Kimura Locks are illegal in Olympic wrestling, if the refs were really smart they would have realized that and thrown him out there and then. That's why Angle was so pissed at Puder afterwards. He pulled an illegal move and almost broke Angles arm, which is why he got so badly beaten up later on.

Batista v Taker: WWE refs doing VAR back then

how about a surprise. Taker and Batista landing on the floor at same time in the cage match is not true in the slightest, it was edited that way. Smackdown at the time was taped on tuesdays and aired on tv on fridays. so WWE edited it to look that way but if you watched it live, Undertaker landed first before Batista did hence the eruption of boos from the live crowd when the draw was announced cause they saw Undertaker win but WWE scripted it to be a draw

those "dark matches" are actually made for those that have a keen eye on things.

I was at an indy show. During a women's tag match, interference happens, the ref clearly saw it and didn't do anything. Obvious botch the crowd turned on him BAD. The next match the heel gets into his face arguing, shoves him. The ref shoved him back knocking him down. Won the crowd back. 👏

There was another time when a referee was smart. At the 2003 Royal Rumble, Earl Hebner was the referee for the Triple H vs Scott Steiner match for the Raw World Title. When Triple H was losing near the end of the match, he assaulted Hebner a couple times to try and himself disqualified but Hebner refused to DQ Triple H and had the match continue. Usually, referees will DQ a wrestler who assaults them but Hebner was smart enough not to play into Triple H's hands and continued the match until Triple H hit Steiner with a sledgehammer which forced Hebner to DQ Triple H which meant that he kept the RAW world title (though Steiner brutally kicked his ass afterwards).

Going way back to 1993 during an episode of Monday Night Raw there was a Loser Leaves WWF/WWE match between Ric Flair and Mr Perfect referee Earl Hebner , not wanting to end the match on a dq , stopped Flair from using a chair . Going back a bit further to Summerslam 1991 Hebner was referee for an Intercontinental title match between Mr Perfect and Bret Hart , Perfect shoved Hebner into a corner and was ready to hit him but Hebner shoved back and let the match continue . Hebner struck again during Summerslam 1991 let me explain Ted DiBiase and Virgil were going at it for the Million Dollar title since it was a unsanctioned title you could win it on a dq or count out but DiBiase made this like any other title match meaning the champion wouldn't lose the belt on a dq or count out . Virgil had DiBiase in the Million Dollar Dream and looked set to win the Million Dollar title but Sensational Sherri hit Virgil with a loaded purse instead of a disqualification Hebner threw Sherri out of ringside and Virgil eventually got the pin and the Million Dollar title .

The ref wasn’t smart Eddie just got caught.

Okay, these were all moments that the referees, who are also part of the scripted shows, followed the script and played thier parts. How about the times referees were ACTUALLY smart, like stopping/interfering with matches when the athletes were injured or in danger.

one thing that has turned me away from WWE, and wrestling in general, is that a DQ, will not change a title belt. like if someones about to win a title belt interference, no title change, back in the early 2000's it was like this every single title match it was so boring i lost interest and it just never came back. nowadays i just watch highlights of most sports and don't watch any actual games
