Usually, goalkeepers retired at that age but he kept on doing remarkable saves. This lets you understand Buffon is the GOAT of the goalkeepers. I would say Buffon and Yashin r on level terms. I have facts to back up Yashin cos of him he created the modern day gk which buffon used. So I wouldn't say buffon is the goat of goalkeepers but yes he is along or just compared to yashin

@@jhalparo3827 Yes but when cruyff invented the modern day of football messi used it and became one of the best in the world. See Buffon did it like messi did but Yashin a man who saved 150 penalties had the best clearances surprised pele best passes and alot more. The thing with cruyff and messi, u would argue by saying then cruyff and messi should be the same cos I said buffon and yashin r the same. See Messi did smth no else ever could. Buffoncouldnt reach that level of doing "smth no else else ever could" because he did not show more techniques to gk. See even people argue casillas over buffon and thats a more suitable debate than yashin and buffon because its talked abt more often. I dont wanna say this but yashin did win a ballon dor which pele could of won but we never know maybe he wouldn't but my point is I think they r on level terms as yashin invented modern gk and set records while buffon makes saves at any age at any time without any problem

@@KZreadfootball923 Maybe it's just bcs UCL Thropy that causes people ignoring Buffon. For real, at Madrid, shoot is more predictable, but in Serie A☠️ Dunno why peeps choose Casillas. He doesn't invent anything, even he's not grabbing all golden gloves, etc.

As a Juventus fan there is a sense of serenity whenever Buffon is between the woodwork. That feeling will probably forever be missing in the coming years of what is left of my life.

Juventus had a rich history of great GKs. Even now we Have Sczezny and Perin who are very good goalkeepers, but we will never feel the same because we had the privilege to Have for such a long time the greatest goalkeeper ever made. We will never Have another Gianluigi Buffon

Yes, this man is the greatest to ever do it. His positioning was so good that he rarely had to make diving saves. That sets him apart from so many other "flashy" keepers.

Buffon was such a goalkeeper that he always showed the hardest the easy. He was not only the best goalkeeper in history, but also a man of great character.

Neuer has been great, Casillas has been great. But for me, Buffon has been clearly the greatest keeper of his generation.

He deserved the ballon d'Or in 2006. He was the best for Italy in the world Cup. They gave It to Cannavaro maybe because he went tò Real Madrid and not to Buffon Who stayed loyal to Juventus and went with the team in serie B. Maybe to avoid general embarassment, polemics or whatever It was just easier to give It to Cannavaro. But as an italian I can tell you Buffon was supposed to win It in 2006. No doubt. Of course Cannavaro was also great and did great season. But this world.... Buffon did the most honorable thing and Lost the prize he deserved... Cannavaro did the easier thing leaving the team that made him great and got the prize. World upside down.

Ah man, 17yo as main GK for Parma FC, isn't that ridiculous? Imma choose Buffon over Yashin, Kahn, and Casillas. Such a great memory to watch this era. We have greatest GK generation, Greatest forward generation, arguably 2nd best defender generation, and best of the best midfielder generation. What a 2 decade of football world. Messi, CR7, Pirlo, Xabi, Zidane KDB, Iniesta, Sneijder, Thiago Silva, Zanetti, Buffon, Casillas, Chielini, and much more.

There are at least 1000 players that could be named that played in the last 2 decades and in their years were phenomenal, everywhere on the pitch there have been legends in these 2 decades. Totally agree, in the period between Parma and Juventus before 2007 he was just at his best. And after that… he was still the best goalkeeper in the world for like other than 10 years

Buffon is that uncle, everyone needs in their life. He has a really big Heart, very humble and is someone who you could always look up to. What a true Legend.

Buffon won the World Cup in 2006 but still went on to be relevant at his older age 10 years later. Tully one of the greatest goalkeepers ever.

Persona, leadership, longevity, success.. The man had everything. We have been blessed to have seen some wonderful, outstanding goalkeepers in the 90's and 2000's, but this guy here absolutely tops them all. Perhaps only second to Lev Yashin? I haven't seen Yashin play but I've heard incredible things about him as well.

the GOATkeeper #1 my compliments, best video on him 👍 And it's about him only being 37-42 (except the save on Zidane). Besides the great saves, he didn't ever fail ....I've seen him for 25 years, I don't remember a single time in which he made a bad mistake

What I really liked _technically_ about Buffon is that he was not focused on flashy saves, he was focused on minimizing risks. Many goalkeepers avoids double-touches in a front smother, like we see Buffon doing many times in this video - for example against Messi - as they _look_ like the goalkeeper is less in control, less confident. It is actually a technique that is much less prone to mistakes in case of a last second deviation or strange bounce or effect. Buffon whenever he was safe that the rebound was not dangerous, is always stopping the ball with two touches even on very simple shoots, ignoring aesthetic. However, whenever the main issue is to avoid a rebound, he gets iron hands and he blocked the ball confidently, like in 5:00. Truly a professional.

Can we talk for a second about how damn good Zidanes header is at the end? His form was impecable, the power, the aim, it came off his bald dome like a rocket and I think would have scored on nearly any other keeper. Amazing header to make that an all-time great save.

Che poi onestamente sticazzi della champions mai vinta , quando hai nel tuo palmares personale una coppa del mondo da assoluto protagonista. I trofei si vincono in 11, puoi fare la prestazione della vita ma se i tuoi compagni non sono in serata , non vinci comunque, soprattutto se sei il portiere. La finale col milan nel 2003 ne è la prova assoluta, Buffon fu il migliore in campo , ma non bastò perché al momento dei rigori a parte Del Piero si stavano cagando tutti sotto
