We do keep bottled water on hand for emergencies. We don't drink it on a regular basis but instead we give it away in hot weather to the mailman, etc cuz they're walking their route and sweating to death. Of course, it came in handy this year when a water main broke on our street. Like I said, we keep it on hand for emergencies.

When I lived near Kroger, there were times that I could get our dogs grain free food, make-up, batteries, and cleaning products cheaper by using the digital coupons and hitting them on sale at the same time. Also, I would stock up when I hit a "close out" item that was marked less than other stores would carry it for normally or even at sale prices. I do agree that typically the dog food is much cheaper either at Wal-Mart or through even Chewy than it is at the grocery store. Kroger does have some good digital coupons and their Saturday sale item can be worth it, but you have to use the app and check it weekly.

Agree. In the days of double coupons, and matching with a good sale, I've bought batteries at the grocery for almost free. Of course otherwise, the prices are ridiculous. I miss double coupons. I hardly use coupons anymore.

Good general rules. I guess it depends where you are and you always need to know your prices. Here in Canada, laundry detergent and other cleaners are often loss leaders at grocery stores and are cheaper or the same as elsewhere. I do buy cat food at the grocery store because we have a grocery chain that sells private label products that are really innovative and good quality. Their cat food has ingredients that I'm happy with, my cats do well on it and it's a lot cheaper than name brands. Sorry. I guess this is coming across as another "Yeah, but in Canada..." comment. :) It's not meant as a criticism or complaint though.

It's wonderful that you can do these simple things to save money. Where we live we have a WalMart, Winco ( which is a grocery store ), Target & a Costco. Believe it or not, the things you've mentioned, batteries, cleaning products, my cats food & his treats, are cheaper at the grocery store than at the other stores. I'm a new subscriber, but so far I'm loving your videos.

I agree with most of what you said. On the bottled water, I buy Ph balanced water for medical reasons. Otherwise, I'm totally there with you. For just plain water, I would rather boil a pot of water in the morning and sip off that all day than buy a gallon or two of 'filtered' water. The pre-cut fruit/veg is 'convenience' for some but 'necessity' for others. Those with limitations/pain cannot cut even soft fruits, so the store always offers some pre-cut. And it is marked up, which is just nasty on their part! It goes bad faster and a bigger risk of contamination when it's pre-cut, too.

The cheapest batteries I found are online at solar battery sites. The best water filter is one that has clay the bottom, activated charcoal from edible trees on top of that, clean sand from ground glass on top of that and water filtering plants as the topper. It's literally dirt cheap to make and easy to maintain. Shalom

The only thing about precut fruit and veggies, is that it would be cheaper for people with hand disabilities, if more people bought it. I can't afford the fresh precut, so I buy frozen. It's precut. I have lost hand dexterity due to Rheumatoid Arthritis, I'm young still too. So it sucks. I wish the precut stuff was within my reach budget wise. It's just too much. On a side note...I got your "Dining on a dime' cook book. Love it!

I buy my dogs food at a farm and feed store / hardware store vs a pet store. I save as much as $10 a bag. I then use a $3 off coupon and I have the rewards program where after I buy 12 bags I get a free one. This store also has a rewards program and sometimes a survey where I can save extra money. I am finding that the drug stores are also not the place to buy a lot of the things you mention. Target or my local grocery store can be cheaper. It’s handy to keep a price book for the things you buy a lot of to know where is the best place to shop for them or what is a stock up price when you see it else where.

I have purchased pre cut fruit, not very often though. It's very rare that I do that. I have purchased bottle water, most of the time there's a coupon for it. And I check the sales and use the coupon and that saves me money on the bottle water. Diapers and coupons. Depending on the sales, sometimes the best price can be found at the grocery store. I know many couponers who have found amazing deals on diapers. I actually have couponed for cleaning products at the grocery store before. Sometimes they have the best deal for the coupons. Storage containers are probably better to purchase at Walmart or dollar tree stores, so I agree with you on that one. I actually don't buy makeup, no need for it. Don't have a pet, so I don't purchase pet food or any pet products from anywhere. What is a convenience snack? I seriously dunno what that is. Oh, I see. Well I buy the go gurt sour patch kids, it's the only one I actually like, if it came a different way than I would purchase it a different way. I already save tons of money. You should see my stock pile. It's still growing too. I shop alot at CVS. I think though that everyone has their own way of living. And I feel like if it makes you happy, than I am happy for you.

I was once given a gift certificate for Shopper's Drug Mart (Canada) and had a horrible time trying to spend it. The prices in the store were $3 to $8 more than the local Walmart. What should have been fun turned out to be horrible because even though I was not paying cash out of my pocket I couldn't justify paying more for items. I ended up finding shampoo on sale - yup $100 on sale shampoo.......

I guilty for buying the bottled water. I just bought some today...lol. Dollar general - 2 dollars and some change. I agree that I shouldn't buy it though.

Walmart has everything from tires, towels, clothing, vacuums, dishes. Grocery stores are mainly just food.
