10 Things You Can't Miss in Clermont, Florida // Travel Tips for 2022

Take State Road 50 west from Orlando into Lake County and you’ll reach the “gem of the hills.” The city of Clermont was founded in the 1880s, a heritage on full display through a series of original structures on the banks of Lake Minneola.
Dominating one of the most prominent hills in the area is the 50’s-era Florida Citrus Tower. This 226-foot-tall tribute to the region’s citrus industry provides a bird’s eye view of the landscape which has evolved from orange groves to modern-day housing developments.
While an observation tower might be the city’s biggest claim to fame, the historic downtown area has become a destination for local foodies. With several food halls and vendor markets occupying space on and near Montrose Street and other locally-owned brick and mortars, historic Clermont has become one of our favorite places to hang out on a Saturday.
Here’s our list of 10 Things You Must Do in Clermont.

Next to Clermont is Groveland where Wilotree Park is, it is the home of Paradise Air Sports where you can experience free flying on a hang glider with top instructors or a ride with the legendary Bob On an ultralite,, it is the best way to see the area from the air . Don't miss out this experience!

You can also rent one of four of the pontoon boats that dock there at the Tiki bar. If you were born prior to 1984 ( or thereabouts) you don’t even need a boating license.

Hello Chad!!! Just wanted to say through this comment section that I'm a huge fan of your videos. Your videos have helped me into researching all about Florida and it's amazing different towns and cities. So much so that I have been planning to move to the Space Coast area for some time now upon graduating from college in Tennessee. Thank you for the amazing videos that you have created, and keep up the good work on showing what all of the Sunshine State has to offer for both tourists and residents alike!

My husband and I were walking through Kohls the other day in the men’s department and I stopped and said to Ken, “look! A Chad Gallivanter shirt!😃” it was the same style but a different color, my husband thought it was actually your brand for a minute lol We really enjoy your videos. Ken grew up in Homosassa Springs. We love the Gulf side but on the Atlantic side, we love St. Augustine and always stay at the La Fiesta on A1A. Because of the beautiful beach access 😎 We’ve been to Clermont and at The Showcase of Citrus where, from a food truck, we had our very first taste of Cuban food and became instantly hooked 💖 we like Clermont Florida 🌴🦩🍊

There’s a similar tower to the citrus tower called the lake placid tower in Lake Placid, Florida. It’s a less known tower, but it overlooks the beautiful lakes in the area. Unfortunately they stopped letting people go up the tower in 2003.

Enjoy Clermont and the rest of Lake county while you can. Beautiful citrus groves are replaced by cookie cutter neighborhoods and strip malls. Sugar Loaf Mountain is rapidly being developed. I have watched Central Florida being destroyed by boom construction for 25 years. Our small town in Lake county is has been found and the infrastructure isn't in place for all these people! Why does everyone want to turn Florida into, 'Like it is Up North?'

Exactly. This goes for most of Central Florida. The land is constantly being developed, it's really sad. Let's never take Florida's natural beauty for granted. 🧡

You are to young to remember the time that the smell and sights was great. Greedy bankers and developers caused the end of the crops. Bicycle path has ruined the small communities and cause owners of homes to no longer afford to live here.

I’m waiting for the housing market in Florida to crash. Right now only millionaires can afford to buy a house in Florida. Where I live I have a 3 bedroom 2 and a half bath house in a decent area and my mortgage payment is only about $1,100 a month(used to be $980 a few years ago before my home value skyrocketed and they raised my taxes).
