As a local I can verify all of them. But I got two more to add on. One if you are rich, please don't buy a second home here that you are only going to use for a few weeks of the year. Second homes have already sent many locals into hellhole council estates. Second, when in traffic please be polite and patient, you are 1 of millions coming down in the Summer on a network meant for only half a million.

Lovely place to live. Only I can imagine it can get very crowded with tourists. The "benefit" is of filming when you travel you have to show what the weather is like when you are there. I filmed Mallorca with loads of rains and clouds, they only have rain for 12 days in the year but it seems we got almost all of that 😅 but yeah still worth showing this gloomy side as well

Absolutely: On the North Coast never swim where there are no Lifeguards, most of the popular beaches are Surf Beaches and have very strong Rip Tides / Currents. The Lifeguards are extremely good and Flag off areas for swimming and separate areas for Surfing, always pay attention to them. The Beaches on the north coast also have the little fish called The Weaver Fish that live in the shallows under the sand, their sting is extremely painful so be aware, Jelly Shoes or Deck Shoes are a good idea when Paddling. The south coast beaches are much safer and therefore there are less Lifeguards if any and very very few Weaver Fish. Yes Lands End is a ripoff, you are must better off going to Cape Cornwall less than a mile away, or visit Lizard Point the most southerly point. Best wether is between June & September, because of the Gulfstream and sticking out into the north Atlantic the weather can change rapidly but there are plenty of things to do on a wet day. 5 million holidaymakers a year can't be wrong.

So I read this 3 weeks after making my prepaid reservation at the hotel at Land's End! Argh. The big issue with most places is the parking. We had booked a cute little place in Newlyn but they couldn't guarantee we'd be able to park in the adjacent lot so we cancelled. At age 71, and having had both knees replaced this past year, I just couldn't see walking 1/2 mile to the parking structure. Nevertheless, we're tuned into tourist traps and know what to stay away from. There's tons of standing stones, fairy springs and beaches to keep us very busy without having to spend much.

Agreed, go to the Lizard instead, it is EVERYTHING Lands End should be. Except, leave the wallet and purse at home, take £20 max to cover parking (I think it's £8 for a car), and go see the FREE firework display, runs every Tuesday and Thursday during the tourist invasion! It is simply stunning, set against the backdrop of a Cornish sunset and tells the story of ancient Cornwall, accentuated with fireworks. STUNNING!!!

One very important thing not to do: on beaches with lifeguards, do not swim outside the flagged safe area. Elsewhere, be very very careful because the waves are always bigger than they look from the beach. MUCH BIGGER especially on the North coast. If a ground swell is running (clues are long lines of regularly spaced waves and whitish scum drifting from headlands) be even more careful and do NOT venture too close to the water's edge if cliff scrambling or fishing. I have lost count of the number of people who have been taken and drowned by the "big sets" of several waves, that come at regular intervals, and I have lived in Cornwall 50 years, initially as a full time surfer.

If you make your own clotted cream then cream on jam works fine, because it not like Rodda's which is thick and does not spread to well, if Rodda's clotted cream is warm then do it the Cornish way, if cold try Devon way for a better experience. I live in Cornwall.

@@grahamnancledra7036 One should always be careful with ones analogies. Scum also rises to the top and 'king' also fits this analogy at present. It is all a matter of taste and personal preference, and practicality. And in my opinion jam on top not only looks better but is much more well behaved during eating. My preference is apricot conserve and not strawberry. My wife on the other hand puts her cream on top of strawberry conserve. Then again I prefer splits to Scones and Dahjeeling Tea no sugar or milk and not tea bag.

They tend to lack basics in cornwall and tend to treat visitors like folk with brains. Suggest you get a hire car in Devon as they tend to be more civilised. My best advice would be to pick a car up in or around london, and do one of the better trips if you insist on cornwall. Off the cuff, Cheltenham (spa town, better than Bath IMO) . You can do Boughton on the Water from there.. A day in Boughton and a day in Cheltenham is nice. Make your way south and spend day 3 on the north coast of Devon, Lynton is a good spot perhaps, get on that water train and soak up some sea air.. If you must venture into cornwall make for Lands End and get to fast perhaps. The folk in cornwall complain about tourists until the wallets open. as do many in Devon but to a lesser degree in Devon.. Once you are done with that stuff, make your way to Dorset , Cerne Abbas, then up to Avebury. Smart folk will realise I left stonehenge out of the last bit, there are reasons if you feel the need to do stonehenge then do it but it tends to be an expensive traffic jam on certain days. Try to build in whatever you fancy in whatever order, My free site has so many more bits on options of this trail where one can take in the likes of Oxford and Salisbury. and a super roman road, and various other stuff
