Such a powerful video! I am in my late 60's and just retired after 40 years as an elementary school educator, and at this point I can honestly say, you will never regret the time you spent with God, family, friends, and pets. You will never regret the times you were helpful to someone else, even if it was inconvenient for you. And you are right, it is never too late. We can all start living a more meaningful life today.

I first saw you guys a couple of months ago on a FB ad and just happened to click on it, which led me to look you guys up, fall in love with your content and family, finally made the last step from vegetarian to whole food plant based, started listening to the PlantStrong podcast…etc. I love how you guys share so much and talk to us like we are your friends. When your posts and videos come out, I am so excited to watch because they are so inspiring, uplifting, educational, vibrant and bright…I always walk away with a more positive mindset. So, thank you. Also, all things that I totally agree on wishing I would have figured out sooner! ☺️ Congrats on selling your home, can’t wait to see you start the next adventure. And yay for Biv and her first steps, it goes by way too fast.

I appreciate the rawness and the honesty in your video. It is never easy talking about ourselves and the things that we could have done sooner. The idea of our thoughts, become our words, and our words become our actions therefore shaping who we are resonates with me. Having been through a lot in my life since the day I was born, much earlier than expected, has stuck with me throughout my 30+ years, and each birthday I always reflect on my life and feel blessed that I have had another trip around the sun. It has allowed me to see what is truly important, to not have any regrets, and to use the many different experiences and situations, as difficult or as welcomed as they have been as opportunities to learn and grow. Changing our mindset, from why is this happening to me? To asking what is this trying to teach me or show me? The ultimate goal is to be the best version of yourself that you can be. It takes a lot of courage to share elements of our lives with others, and myself along with many others find inspiration and encouragement from your videos to take the steps to lead more healthy and abundant lives. It would be interesting to see if Dusty has any thoughts on what he wished he knew and did in his 20’s, from a male perspective, although I feel you are both very much aligned with your beliefs and values, much like my husband and I. Please keep the videos coming. Sending you love and blessings.

I loved this video! Here's an oldie but "Count your blessings". Yes I know everyone has heard this million of times, but I never really understood the gravity of it until I reached my 30s. Last year I moved up here to NC with my sister. We had to get rid of most of our stuff and lived in a hotel for a month or two with our three pets. (My sister has two cats and I have a chihuahua/Chinese crested dog) Things were beyond tight and it was hard for me to find a job at first. But... here comes blessings! We had friends that got me a job, we got a car, helped with money, and a house to rent! Yes it was lonely and stressful but when you are able to see your blessings, it makes the world different for you! Thank God for everything! Those silly little good thoughts that come to you...The great ideas that "just" pop up! That's not you, it's the Holy Ghost. Count your blessings, one by one...

Such a good point about falling away from God and coming back. I had 20 years of putting God on a pedestal and saying I'm use you when I need you. Finally came back to Him full circle a year ago and haven't looked back. I'm now reading the Bible book by book and getting closer to Him.

I also try to have no regrets, but plenty of “wish I had not done / done sooner” coming from a now 40 year old, very health conscious gal: 1. quit smoking / never smoked. 2. Not drink alcohol, or very little (I did so excessively). 3. Stopped tanning!! 4. Went vegan sooner. 5. Exercised! 6. And prioritized ME over guys I dated/exes.

I'm 47. This is a big question, with lots of answers. I wish I would have known then, what I know now. I would have used natural products, taken care of my teeth as an adolescent, and incorporated a plant-based diet way back when 😊I was married at 22, had 2 kids within a few years, and honestly, our eating habits were pretty good, compared to most. My son never liked meat as a kid and was super picky, so that forced me to spend a lot of money on fruits that weren't in season. I was buying tropical fruit, during the winter, here in San Diego. My son pushed me to make smoothies daily and eat lots of fruits and veggies. I love my life now as a mom and wife. My kids are 23 and 20 and although I wish I would have continued my education while they were in school, I enjoyed volunteering in their class, PTA, and going to church. We're very close, and for that, I am truly thankful. Thank you Erin and Dusty for all you do. You guys inspire me. I've been following you for years and hopefully, my husband and I can make it to one of your retreats in the next couple of years.

Or anything that was uncomfortable for that matter. I feel like we’ve come along way with being more open and honest about maybe sometimes embarrassing things? Back in the day I feel like sex with something to be ashamed of. And that’s terrible terror. 😳

I was also wondering if you could do video on organization, like how do you start your mornings and how do you accomplish things throughout the day. I find myself wanting to do a lot of things and i just love that you are a go getter and just do things, like starting that first youtube video or doing retreats, researching information etc. If you could do something like that i would really love that. Oh and as mom who feels like there is something important you want to get done, but then ends up on the back burner because you want to spend time with your kids and feel guilty how do you deal with that. =)

It wasn't until my 20's that I developed a faith in God but I wish I developed it sooner. Observing thoughts/watering the positive seeds is so important. " "Your mind is like a piece of land planted with many different kinds of seeds: seeds of joy, peace, mindfulness, understanding, and love; seeds of craving, anger, fear, hate, and forgetfulness. These wholesome and unwholesome seeds are always there, sleeping in the soil of your mind. If you plant tomato seeds in your gardens, tomatoes will grow. Just so, if you water a seed of peace in your mind, peace will grow. When the seeds of happiness in you are watered, you will become happy. When the seed of anger in you is watered, you will become angry. The seeds that are watered frequently are those that will grow strong." -Thich Nhat Hahn

Great, video! For me getting pregnant was hard to do, because of my health issues from my accident. Thank God I found natural medicine to get me healthy and pregnant. I told my doctors I will not take any shots or meds to conceive a baby. I'll adopt if needed. I got pregnant and had some complications our baby's heart stopped. I knew that night I woke up crying and telling my husband our baby just passed away. I got confirmation that next morning. My body would not let go of the baby, because I wanted this baby so bad. Good news I got pregnant right away when I got the green light. But started to have complications again. But good news with having bed rest for a few weeks did the trick. Yes, eating right and having God in my life helped me. Now I have two kids that I love so much. Now that ones a teenager and a pre teen not love being a mom right now. I have a son who is gifted and adhd, but comes with a lot of challenges since he was 3. I feel technology is ruining ours kids and our world. Yes, it's great to have at times Public schools aren't great for every kid. I wish we had more options. I wished I moved up into the mts or on a lot with lots of acreage. We all get caught up in society. I feel it makes us do things that we really don't want to do. But we do to fit in, trying to be like everyone else or trying to be better then someone else or my neighbor has this now I need to have it. I give you and Dusty a lot of credit on raising your kids the way you do. When I had my son I had him eating the right foods, but it came with a lot of criticism, which was fine. But people would feed him the foods I didn't want him eating. Back then there wasn't all this information out there like now. Now having older kids they don't want to be a healthy eater all the time until they get sick. Then I have to have the conversation what did u eat or drink. Ummm, will that is probably your cause. I let them make their own choices, but in our house I keep the foods pretty clean for them. If they have friends over I let them choose a few things that I normally won't let them have. Once they hit adulthood they'll at least have the skills to heal their body's with food. Once your child hits 12 you can't tell them what to do anymore like when they were little. I had to learn this through holistic therapy with my teenager. Studies show12 years old back in the day had to work or go to war. You can tell your 12 yr old what to do , but in a different way to get the pt across. The therapist said, if you don't want to have power struggles and melt downs, but want to get your child to do what your asking you need to remember this. I'm still working on this one! Lol My son has been stuck in a babies/child's body, but with a brain way beyond his years. This is why I can't heal all the way from all the stress. We have to keep him busy! He has the biggest heart in the world and smart. He'll do great things once he becomes an adult. Everyday I pray to get me through this stage and pray for my son to take the right path. I have friends say to me I don't know how you do it. Faith and a great marriage that won't break us. Yes, we have a lot of ups and downs, but with love, faith, family and friends gets us through. I love watching your videos it brightness up my day and gives me peace.

Hi Erin- Can you please share what brands of leggings and tops you wear?? As to the video, I look at it as not a regret or a bad thing on how I lived my twenties but as a wow look how I have grown in my thirties. Cuz if you think about it, we didn’t have all the resources that we do now, so we should be thankful on how the world around us has evolved for us to educate our children on how to be healthier. Everything happens for a reason!! And Thankfully Sunnier and Warmer weather is coming here to NE this next week!! YAAAAYYY!! Happy Mother’s Day!!

Five years ago I was obese with arthritis so bad that basic yoga hurt too much. My blood pressure was very high and my cholesterol through the roof. I've been whole foods plant based for four years. My blood pressure and cholesterol are excellent. I feel physically better in many ways and more energetic. But. I'm still overweight. sure i lost 30 pounds, but I have 40 to go. Scale hasnt budged in 2 years. And It still hurts too much to do exercise- even ones designed for seniors ( 47, dont drink or smoke) Doctors tell me its just normal at my age to be overweight and sore all over- I don't buy that.

I took an interest in health books and natural eating when I was in my early teens. Trying to find teen oriented books on the subject weren't abundant. One book mentioned omega 3 for supple hair but than proceeded to have a whole chapter on birth control I felt was unecessary to me and also didn't belong in natural health ,I spotted another book called teen health on the library shelf and got disappointed realizing it was mostly calorie counting. One old juicing book mentioned teen girls is where a lot of them start diets to achieve impossible weight goals. I never tried to lose weight but emotional riding and food boredom and depression definitely affected my consistency. Also I still find it most interesting if people show how to exercise around women's cycles like period's when I'm crampy and don't want to move , don't want to do invert poses that usually kickstart a little exercise in bed. One cycling book mentioned women's builds and finding the right size bike frame, balance, and body strengths. I feel like there isn't enough of that out there. Thank you for sharing 😊 . Happy mother's Day 💐.

One of the things I wish I knew at a younger age is that plain water and simple moisturizer are all that is needed to wash my face. I spent so much time using lotions, potions, toners, astringents, and expensive chemicals on my face that I didn’t need. I have been using water and moisturizer only for 20 years now and my face is fine. I have used CeraVe moisturizer on all of my body for the past three years and it has been my favorite so far. Another thing I have learned is that I can say “no” to the dentist when he wants to XRay my teeth every year. I know the radiation exposure is minimal but I think I would have been fine doing them every three years instead.

The cleaner, more whole, unprocessed foods you eat, the easier it is for you body to identify/recognize what it is and how to utilize it. That equates to optimal absorption of nutrients and more efficient digestion! All I know is that I can eat more raw foods/calories than I ever could Lean Cuisines and cold cut sub sandwiches!! Hope this helps.

Plant based diet tent to be rich in carbohydrates. Carbohydrates are our bodies number 1 energy source. Whatever carbohydrates you consume that you don’t burn off as energy or heat get stored as glycogen. If you max out your glycogen storages then your body needs to undergo a process called de novo lipogenesis which with convert unused carbohydrates into fat. It’s important to note that humans are extremely inefficient at this process end only does it as a last resort. In fact, de novo lipogenesis actually burns 30% of remaining calories consumed just to perform this process. So you can actually consume more calories from carbohydrates than you can other macronutrients without weight gain. Because you tend to eat a higher percentage of calories from carbohydrates on a plant based diet than on a western diet, most of which are complex carbohydrates which slow down absorption and stabilize blood sugar, you can actually consume more calories. I don’t know if I’d go as far as double but when you feed your body real food, your body responds better. I will say that metabolic adaptation is also a thing. If you slowly reduce your calories over time or slowly increase them overtime, your body can actually speed up or slow down your metabolism in order to better maintain homeostasis. If you’ve calorie restricted for a long period of time, your metabolism may not be functioning properly. By slowly increasing calories over time you could increase your metabolism. There is a cut off though. You will reach a maximum amount of calories your body is able to burn in a day without weight gain.
