I visit Hong Kong regularly since 1988. In 1988, I was surprised to see packed MTR trains going to HK Central. That time, S'pore just built our MRT in 1987. Normally, in S'pore if are at City Hall interchange for example u merely need to cross the platform to connect to East-West Line. But due to different times of planning & construction of new lines for MRT, for changing lines, we have to walk very far like changing from North-East, Down-Town etc. In Hong Kong, passengers changing at certain interchange of MTR merely have to walk a short distance across to change. But if you were to change at Mong Kok East station, u have to walk very far to Mong Kok station. From Central, to change to Hong Kong Station on a different line going towards airport or Tung Chung, the passengers need to walk very far.

Yes, SG has more MRT lines/ stations than HK and more complex. For older interchange like Raffles Place or City Hall, we just need to walk across or use escalator to transfer between platforms.

Most of broccoli selling in SG market are either from China or Australia. HK people walk very fast & fast-paced of life is a perception & due to timing & vast MTR layouts. If u visit Raffles Place or any MRT stations during going to office/after work (pre-Covid), u would see office workers rushing like mad to go to work or getting home. In HK, MTR has many exits & have to walk very far. That is why Hongkongers have to walk fast to get to work or appointments. But after work or on weekends in HK, u can see people walking slowly/leisurely in Causeway Bay/TST etc. Like S'poreans, they can't be rushing all the time. During time-off is to relax. In the area in the city where I live in S'pore, many popular food outlets have scanning code. Once seated, u merely have to place your order via your mobile phone. And the diners are served very fast. In Hong Kong, the popular Australian Dairy in Jordan also serve the food fast & also very rude. They want the diners to eat fast due to long queues. But in off-peak periods, they also slowed down the pace & be courteous. In Dec 2019, I was there during off-peak, I was surprised & glad that the waiter offered me an extra chair to place my bag & winter clothings. It's more on experience & perception.

@@MsKarman HK MTR stations are very big & has many exits. In Wan Chai station (also super big) I had to walk very long distance to find the correct exit. I am a fast walker as I have no patience. If I am not rushing for something, I slow down my pace. So this is the theory I am trying to convey. HK given the bigger population also gives rise to the seemingly chaotic & kancheong situations. But I don't deny on the surface, HK seems very fast & kancheong. Hope you & your family have settled down & enjoy the times in S'pore.

S'pore shopping centres have many toilets for shoppers to use. Whereas, in Hong Kong more harder to find toilets. In the 1990s to 2000s in HK, many shop owners locked the toilets. U would see signs that they r meant for certain units of shops. Shoppers had difficulties finding them. Only in recent years, toilets are slightly more common in HK shopping ctrs. Some HK MTR stations (like S'pore) have public toilets. Alternatively, while in HK, if u r a customer of a Cha Chaan Teng, u would able to use the toilet.
