Great way to think about it!
I've reduced spending on alcohol by 80%. I've also stopped buying unique food items that I saw in a recipe that I will probably never make. And, I now ignore the sale bins/shelves at the store entrance and go right to the items I need. Thanks all of the advice and tips!
I read "Tightwad Gazette" books 25+ years ago now and the author (Amy Dacyczyn) pointed out that those big name brands should be paying YOU to advertise their brands. She has a point. Since then I've never had a desire to advertise for someone - and pay to do it.

I read those books as well back in 1991. Helped change my life for the better.
I agree. In large part, the pandemic caused my household to rethink our spending habits and we cut out a lot of money eating out at fancy restaurants and saying yes to outings with friends.

Love Libby and library “digital” offerings, in general. One of the most amazing free resources out there!
I love how this is so value-driven. I felt so aligned with everything you said! Very refreshing!
Thank you Erika for sharing Libby! Now I can saving some money by borrowing books and listening to audiobooks throughout the nearest library. It’s very helpful to watch your channel and gets motivated me being more independent!
I LOOOOOVE giving gift baskets as a gift but instead of ordering them like I used to, I make them and drop them off. I generally save $35 to $50 by making them myself. Also cute and inexpensive gift that everyone loves, a candy bouquet. I go to the $1 store and buy boxes of candy, attach them to a popsicle stick, insert into a floral block, set inside an open decorative box with some tissue paper all from $1 store !
Love the reminders. I used to use Libby all the time, but I tend to like tree books over e-books. Which is why I love my library!! When I was in school, I wanted a name brand purse but didnt have the money. Now when I get a bonus from work and could use that to drop on a $300 bag, I put that in savings and keep using my $30 bag from Target. I'd rather travel or see a musical than look like I have a lot of money.
Hi Erika, I love watching all your videos which are very entertaining and informative. Being able to WFH during the pandemic, was able to reduce my commute so was able to cut the gas fill-up and eating out for lunches. Used to spend about $500-$600/month on Barnes and Nobles on technology books and now just use the Amazon prime ebooks.
Whatever workout you’re doing it is getting it done. You look beautiful and fit! Always great information that you pass along. Thank you for giving us all great ideas to save money!
Thank you for all great tips
Thanks for such a great video!
I've cut out hard to maintain hairstyles and don't color my hair. I get a simple hair trim once a year. I also never get my nails or toes done. I use tools at home to keep them clean and tidy - no nail polish. I've also cut out getting take-out and eating out - only order out or go out once a month at the max.

These are really good ones! Totally agree on the hard to maintain hairstyles / coloring your hair. I used to color my hair and it made it so hard to maintain and just dried my hair out so badly.

Great video & tips! Thank you 💕
Great video Erika!! Thanks so much!
So true.. My gym membership was gone when the pandemic started. You are definitely a real genuine person with a big heart. Thanks for all of the valuable information.
Great video thank you for sharing 😃
Love these tips!
Thanks so much for the vauable information. I have started following these recommendations already!!
Great video, great tips, thx.
Hi, I agree with all your suggestions. I've done most of them myself. I don't buy name brand stuff just because. I cut my gym membership and built my home gym. One of the things I really liked about your video, and I was a sucker for, was costco. I know about buying stuff in bulk and then having it go to waste. I will definitely reevaluate that one. Thanks again
Love that you are a swiftie, me too thanks for the video!
Awesome 👏🏻 Being a minimalist is my dream too☺️
Great advice!
I loved when you said that you cut out holiday gifts. My husband and I decided that we are donating the $ we would of spent on gifts to a charity or a person in need. We are blessed that we really don't need any new stuff. I also buy any clothes I need at the Goodwill. Many times people have complimented me on my clothes and asked where I bought them and they freak out when I say the Goodwill :-) You have inspired me to keep purging all the clothes I do not wear (from your previous videos) Love your channel!
thank you for this helpful advice

Thanks for sharing the things you’ve cut out. While I agree on most of them, I am a sucker for a good outfit. Now that I’m in my late 20’s I feel like buying good quality clothes and reusing them for years to come is better than buy cheap clothing you will most likely have to replace again and again in return spending more money. But I am still very much in a broke girl mindset and hardly buy myself anything haha. So we shall see going into my 30’s. Thanks again Erika! :)

If I want to be fashionable I just to Goodwill. I just need to be patient.
1. Newspapers - use internet 2. Cable subscription - there's youtube 3. Movie tickets - get netflix 4. Bottled water - bring your own 5. Gas - commute by bike
I feel the same about designer items, a polo shirt is 95% the same as a H and M one but half the price so I don’t see a point in spending all of that money on designer stuff. Great video!
Learning a lot from you 👍
Nicely done
Got recommended this video and loved watching what things I don’t need in my everyday life, thank you 🙏 life saver 👌
Great video thanks for sharing! Love your thumbnails too! Do you create them yourself?
Play button looks great! 😀 Same with the gym membership. I purchased the mirror which still has a subscription, but is half the price that I used to pay for orange theory.
Agree! Great points. Been doing that for some time now as well. Although there's many worse things you could spend your money on than on your health (gym)
Great list of things! However, I don’t think I’d ever be able to give up my gym membership :) Thanks for sharing Erika 🙂

Great video- and I love Libby! I do occasionally buy books- (daily motivations or devotionals) but only after I preview them from the library- I find it hard to believe you ever bought “aspirational clothing” - you are so beautiful!

You are so smart . I’m so proud of you 👏
Regarding buying brand name items ~ I agree. When I finally made money I did splurge to those brands because I’ve always wanted them. I am now at the point of my life and realizing that I don’t wear them as often as I should and but I keep them as investment bec of it’s value. Love your Channel 🧡
💯 agree with these. I'm glad I'm not the only one who doesn't spend money on gifts at holidays. Whenever I can, I do random nice things to show that I appreciate others at no specific time of the year. That way it is more sincere from me
Great tips. We are working from the road and decided to give up our monthly obligations and just go mobile. It has been working great! Also we have applied some great money making techniques so we have more revenue as well.

Although I disagree with the gym (personal choice), I love all of your points. Thank you for this video and your perspective .
I love watch these type of videos as I’m de cluttering. 🧡
Love all of these except the first. My $20 a month gym membership is not much off a dent into my budget, yet helps me go workout when I otherwise wouldn't.
I would feel sick if I stopped buying Christmas presents. It's not an option for me. What I like to do is plan ahead during the year, like saving and buying some of the gifts early.
. . one of your best videos!!!!

Love your ideas. Sharing Libby with friends. I don’t much care about labels or costly purses. Have budgeted food so I don’t throw away as much. Fresh nice linens & a quality mattress that you use often are a good investment. Buy plants 🪴 and shades for windows nicer than costly window treatments, drapes too. Thanks
I always go back to this video whenever I am tempted to go shopping for things I really don't need.
Hi Erika, thanks so much for these tips, very helpful even though I'm situated in Europe - can you share which desk chair you purchased I've been looking for one for over a couple of years, as I'm at my desk all day long! Thank you!
Cutting out aspirational clothing, amen! I used to do this allllll the time, buying for my fantasy/future self. Needless to say I wasted so much money, time, and space holding onto these items that didn’t fit me or any occasion.
Buying in bulk makes sense for a family. Plus you can use all those extra cans for your emergency food supply.
I love Libby. When I see books marketed to me on Amazon, I train myself to check Libby first. I am going to stop taking advantage of sales. I have allot I don't wear and am going to donate it to Haiti. 🇭🇹
Love it
I’ve been using Libby for a long time. I love it
lol....you said, "Things like a Dyson vacuum"...i love you.
Thanks for the tips I don't buy season decorations every year. I don't waste money in marks clothes or jewelry that never use. I save a lot of money because of that.
Super helpful to help me save for my upcoming wedding! Every time I think to buy something I’m like “Do I need this or would I rather put these dollars toward my wedding?”
I stopped opening the sales magazines like the Target Christmas Mag/Ad. All it does is tempt one to think they want something totally useless or maybe need for one time. I just stopped looking at the ad flyers that arrive in the mail because I really don’t need stuff.
I keep my gym for the sauna. Tried a blanket but sold it because it wasnt the same. Still rethinking it and considering buying a different sauna for home.
I do all of these things naturally. Glad I’m doing that right 🙂
Definitely try Aldi ❤️ best grocery store
Minimalism is in! No overspending for things that you don't need.
I made my own paintings to hang. I can’t draw well but colorful abstract stuff I can do
I shop at HOME GOODS for the once a year Seasonal ONE ITEM for decoration. I haven't put up a Christmas tree and lights for decades .... my dogs are my excuse. Works for me and I save days of time !
Be aware of the rat race, live below your means, invest for your future, stay humble and live your life to the fullest.
I cut out a subscription for a streaming channel that I wasn't watching. It was tricky to figure it out, but I did it! I am still looking for other ways to save because I already had cut out so much of the fluff.
Is Libby like Hoopla? Maybe the same thing? I use Hoopla (need library card). Love it!!
Thanks! You can also just buy timeless pieces for your clothes, that way you don’t fall for the "fashion trap" as mentioned.
Great tips Erika!! Gonna have to check out Libby!! Which credit card came with the Peloton membership?

Thank you for the information it's priceless! I recently stopped shopping for clothes as a woman I love clothes but have a lot so I'm constantly going through them and wiening them out keeping what I really like, entertainment too it's too expensive these days so staying in is better on my wallet 😁
Great video! I cut Netflix out of my budget. And that’s why I’m here watching KZread instead.
I have done something similar with technology. I used to buy the newest cell phone or laptop every year cause its "better". My cell phone is almost 3 years old and still works great. I don't use laptops anymore and built my own desktop to save a crap ton of money. I do have an ipad, but I use it all the time for photo editing and other day to day tasks.
Wow, so I’m a minimalist and didn’t know it lol 😂
I agree with everything, except I will always have a nice quality handbag! It's so worth it!!

Spend money on what truly makes YOU happy especially if other unimportant things are cut out and you still achieve your financial goals Everything in life needs balance And whats important to me may also not be important to you
Can I ask what category of things you spend enough on credit cards to amass thirty thousand points? Thanks
Hello, I will like to know about what credit card do you recommend? Thanks
I stopped going to the convenience store for snacks and energy drinks. It was costing me $150 or more a month. I have been forcing myself to cook and eat at home. That save so much time and money. Also not buying any new clothes or things I don’t need or that I will only wear once or twice.
Liked your video. Of course, everybody's priorities are different (you will never talk me out of books), but overall the suggestions were well thought out and valid. Unfortunately I very often run into "i stopped buying" videos, when they continue like this"buy this instead". It was very pleasant, that you did not do that.
