Classic items can be trendy, but not all trendy items can be classic. I got several compliments today while out and about running my errands. I wore a white poplin shirt, straight jeans, tan loafers and a trench. It doesn’t get much more classic than that!

Here for the energy and vibes in this video 😅 I agree re stripes, the more the merrier. I always expect you to say a plethora when talking about them though 😂. The Bostons are growing on me 🥴 I do like the way I’ve seen Anna style them and also in your cutaways here. I’ve seen a lot of students wearing them in town so they are indeed hip with the youngsters 😆.

I love your basics here for summer. The only thing I would add, is a nice, long spring scarf. I am watching this as the snow falls outside. I hope it's the last of it. March is definitely out like a lion. My switch over? well, not for another couple of weeks. LOL Good idea to do this in stages though.

Loving the flat Mary janes coming back! I have a leg length discrepancy and have to wear a wedge in my shoes. I think lots of women reach a point where they just have no interest or desire to wear heels any more and I’ve definitely reached that point. I don’t mind wearing them occasionally or a heeled boot but otherwise I don’t want them anywhere near my feet 🤣

This was a great midweek treat, Emma. I loved everything. The mary janes are really pretty & the leather looks super comfy.😢

I love Tencel, too. It’s more breathable, so cooler than cotton, softer and has a silk-like feel and drape, too, as you say. My climate is so hot in summer that I usually overheat in cotton and don’t want the bother of having to iron all linen. I do wear linen a lot, but mostly in those thin, linen-knit dresses from H&M around the house, they’re lifesavers, but not suitable for wearing in public. I have a few nice woven linen dresses for going out, but they’re a pain to iron in my broiling hot laundry room where my ironing board is. I make sure that all my linen items, shirts, skirts, dresses, etc., are ironed and ready to wear before the heat comes on. Then, I only have to do touch-up ironing after each wear, until the garment needs washing. I’m definitely hunting for more Tencel items for spring and summer!

Oh, I must have the long set! My arms and legs are the first parts of my body to get cold and I’m not really a shorts fan, they always ride up on me. How comfy this set looks for lounging or sleeping!

I really like your style! I’m in agreement on patterns. I love stipes or dots (although I don’t find them as often). I recently bought a pair of Birkenstock Boston clogs and love them . I got the soft footbed and like it better than the regular. I am going start a collection I think. I remember when my podiatrist told me to wear them and I was horrified, so ugly! Now I’ve come to appreciate them.

Hi Emma. I wouldn’t be without my trench coats- cost per wear has rendered them as two of the most worn pieces in my wardrobe and in the Greek climate they are invaluable for autumn,winter and spring. I love my Birkenstock Bostons and I honestly don’t think they fall into the ‘ugly’ category having seen some of the clumpy,chunky footwear around. For me, it’s all about comfort and Birkenstocks are most definitely that! I love your style- clean lines,simple but chic. I’m looking forward to seeing your other new in spring wear.💖🌷

I have a pair of Birkenstock Bostons in the Taupe shade like yours and I adore them. Only thing is they are made of suede so I don't tend to wear them if it's raining out (which is a lot in London - I know you can put suede protector on but I'm still worried about damaging them). Otherwise however they get soo much wear from me.

Oh yes I never wear anything suede when it’s raining. I use the protector and it’s really great so if I got caught in unexpected rain it’s ok but I wouldn’t choose to wear them in rain.

Birkenstocks and Comfort thoughts: My whole life I really, really enjoyed this shoe company and I will continue to always recommend them but I would say it's important that if you've experienced any major "life changes" (pregnancy, physical injury) I would suggest you go into a store and try them on again before buying. I had foot surgery a few years ago and prior to that, maybe a decade earlier (middle school through high school) I always wore Birkenstocks. Then I recently this year tried on a new pair and had a weird reaction; my "healthy foot" felt as great in them as before, but the foot that has now had a few years to heal did not like the feeling of the Birkenstock sole anymore. Instead, that foot feels best in a purposely over-cushioned sole + insole combo (Clarks makes a lug-boot style right now where the entire heel and outer sole is one foam block + the insole is extra padded) instead of the cork. So, again, I'd really encourage anyone who's never tried Birkenstock to go for it, but if you're coming back around to them after a long break and some life changes; try them on in-store just to double check that they still feel as great as you remember.

My top brands for floaty trenches are Jigsaw, Massimo Dutti & Cos. Don’t forget to look on eBay, Vinted, Depop etc as you’ll get a great deal buying pre-loved and more choice. You could even find this Jigsaw trench somewhere 🙌🏼
