Good, GL needs more love. Hal specifically, is one of the most powerful DC heroes and has an awesome history (killing the whole Corps, Parallax, Spectre, etc.) The GL's get nerfed so badly in the animated shows and the GL 2011 movie. I hope they do them right in future movies.

@@thehighground7926 Actually its was announced a year ago that we are getting a Green Lantern Corps live-action HBO Max show set to depict the stories of countless Green Lanterns like Guy Gardener, Kilowog, Alan Scott, Jessica Cruz, Sinestro etc... with a budget of £100 million. Super excited for the vast potential of this series as a big fan of the Green Lantern mythos. Not to mention that we are also getting a Green Lantern Animated film after almost 10 years.

I thought both Alan Scott's kids had inherent powers, his son Obsidian had darkness/shadow(?) based powers and his daughter Jade had relatively generic energy powers that looked/functioned like GL powers.

@@jtfbreedlove yes you are right, but when she she lost her connection to the starheart Kyle gave her a copy of Hals ring before he went travelling to rebuild the corps. She became Green Lantern in his place. However she did eventually get her powers back and her ring ended up with John Stewart who became the justice leagues lantern up until Rebirth

The original power of Hal’s ring was the ability to do anything he could imagine, not just constructs. Read the original stories.

You forgot Charlie Vickers as another human in the GL Corps.

One miss conception I have heard from people is that "Hal is gay." or in other words ANY fact that applies to Allen Scott or other GLs gets applied to Hal.

Yuki _ Earth 2 Alan Scott was gay because the writers wanted to try make up for Obsidian being written out in the New 52.

You forgot that Charlie Vicker was a Green Lantern from earth.

AFAIK, the yellow weakness is still there, except it's overcomable. Parallax is no longer in the central battery peeing in the pool (so to speak), but there's still pee in the pool (so to speak) that makes it hard for the energy to work on yellow. To overcome it -- at least as of "Rebirth" and shortly thereafter -- a GL needs to grab on to a little bit of fear and push through it. To guys like Hal or Guy, who are functionally fearless, it's something they need to consciously do. To someone like Kyle, who is not naturally fearless (just brave) and is always pushing through, it's no different than anything else he does.

There was also that misconception that John Stewart was the main Green Lantern after the Justice League series, a lot of people were confused when the trailer for the 2011 movie dropped and GL was white

I remember the fuss over the film with people saying stupid things as such as "I refuse to watch this film because it does not have the original green lantern its not the black guy" and "If they can make the original green lantern a white guy why cant they make superman a black guy".

Mr Sensational32 start with the classics. Batman The Dark Knight Returns by Frank Miller. Batman The Long Halloween by Jeph Loeb. Almost any DC comic by Jeph Loeb is going to be great. If you’re looking for something more modern or something Marvel, Mark Waid has an excellent run on DareDevil. You generally can’t go wrong with any Daredevil arc. If you’re a MCU fan and want to get a feel for what you’re seeing in the movies more try out Abnett and Lannings run on Guardians of the Galaxy. I’d stay away from big event comics at first like Civil War or Secret Wars, wait until you get a feel for some individual characters before you start those.

Completely, forgot about Jenny, Jade, Hayden... :( She was the real first Female GL from earth and even was the Title character of the Series for a few issues, At least as far as the main series goes, .... there are more GLs from earth you also forgot to mention that are brought up in other mini stories and series too, even the very very first female GL of earth...

Malcolm M I forgot concerning his mother, but his father’s name was Gabriel Vasquez. He changed it to Rayner in the military, thus explaining why Kyle has the Rayner name.

I always thought that there was a single Green Lantern that was stationed on earth as a guardian of sorts, but multiple humans from earth were active Green Lantern Corp off planet. Out of all the DC super heros, Green Lantern confuses me the most.

We already know what the ring can do, though. Sledgehammer and umbrella.

I noticed one glaring omission. Alan Scott's daughter Jenny Lynn Hayden aka Jade was a Green Lantern for a short time, yet no mention was made of her.

Maybe someone else mentioned this, but Jade and Lonnie Machine (Anarky) were also other humans to wield the power ring.

arisia is older than hal, graxion aging is just... math. shes 240yo(listed as being 14 by earth standards, but is small like piper perri), one would think grax are wiser than humans like elves making legal consent or lack of very inconsistent. and id hook up with her in a heartbeat

i think the most common thing that everyone gets wrong about the green lanterns is that they are powerful. Really, theyre mostly used as stepping stones to show just how powerful a villain is.

The white lantern and the ultraviolet core should fight each other

Don’t forget The Flash Annual #2 during the New 52. Barry Allen used the ring to stop a giant alien from attacking them after Hal was trapped in an electrified net.

There's also a story where Kale El/Superman is sought out to bear the ring before Hal Jordan was chosen. But, because he wasn't a native to the sector, he was turned down.

Other things the rings for for their wearer include true life support- a GL doesn't need sleep food or water- and the ring tones their muscles do they don't atrophy in the zero gravity environment if space. That's right- they get ripped just by wearing the ring! On the downside, the average lifespan for someone taking up the ring is only FOUR YEARS. Yeah- they lose THAT many members!

In the New 52 Green Lantern Corps title John Stewart had a tough time with Fatality. Their backstory was rocky, as she wanted him dead as he was responsible for her planet being destroyed (Xanshi casts a long shadow over John, as does the death of Alex for Kyle). They fall in love in the New 52 and things seem to be going well until she’s kidnapped and impersonated by the Durlans during the Uprising event, her Star Sapphire ring destroyed when the Durlan impersonating her is caught out. John does find Fatality again, but she reveals the ring conditioned her so that her hatred for John was suppressed by an infatuation with him so her ring could function, and that she never wants to see him again. The Futures End one shot for Green Lantern Corps explores what happens if John doesn’t move past this and keeps dwelling on the relationship.

Wait, Arisia LOOKED like a 14 year old girl from Earth, but was the equivalent of her species of a early 20s girl, and if I remember correctly was even older than Jordan chronologically. Also Jordan reciprocated her feelings, but couldn't get over how gross would be to have sex with someone that looked like a child.

Only reason everybody's wrong about the Earth Green Lanterns, is because they keep adding more. I think we're good on Earth GL's now.

The fact he predates Guy and John makes him an important part of the human Green Lantern heritage even if he kinda faded into obscurity over the years.

These lists always feel like you're making things up that people generally actually DO understand. Non-readers generally don't even know enough to make said mistakes.

Technically Jade was a Green Lantern, given a ring by Kyle Rayner anyway, which probably doesn't could as the corps was gone at that point. Also, Charlie Vicker was another Green Lantern sort of, appearing in either the 80s or before. He's sort of obscure, and isn't really that important I guess!!!

I think they retconned the Yulan Gar story out, but I could be wrong. I have that issue actually, and even though it was drawn by Green Lantern creator Mart Nodel (possibly written too, don't remember), I didn't really care for it due to the changes it made to the original Alan Scott story!!!

Wait... Jessica Cruz is a not exacly a GL. She got that ring from the evil version of GL whose ring was feeding on his owner's fear. And since she's afraid of, like, everything, that ring choosed her. As someone said here before : Misinformation in a video addressing just that.

Will in the comics they pick up massive things all the time and get in literal fist fights with kryptonians and other super strong characters. If you’ve ever played Injustice use green lantern and interact with the background he physically picks up huge stuff in his own hands and throws them. The ring not only makes forcefields but it boosts their own physical capabilities too

Who the hell thinks these things? Either they're a comic nerd so they're well aware, or they just know of the characters and don't have these strangely specific thoughts about them.

More like 10 Mistakes Some People Make at Certain Given Moments! Anyone who read a good portion of the lore would know better. Now I'm mostly talking for myself, but most people know Hal Jordan isn't the only human, or alien, green lantern (canonically and chronologically)! Hell, for many that title belonged to John Stewart and Kyle Rayner. And with the arrival of Simon Baz and Jessica Cruz, the status has changed further.
