That Spl score at that wattage is very very impressive and you did it at the windshield too. Most impressive! I used to compete so I know. I can't believe how loud this is!!

That’s what I’m saying! Definitely didn’t give that sub enough cred
Absolutely beautiful in design and performance
Next up on Hexibase, a 3D printed 8th order bandpass with a 2x isobaric group in push push configuration. 😍 Tuned to peak at seperate peaks and maxing out at 70-75hz, so by 90hz the sub has passed the job to the other speakers.
Never get enough hexi. Long or short video. Either goes good. I usually listen with some skull candy hesh 3's.
HexiBase still making some of the best content in my feed. Great production and editing. The video flows well and the content is awesome. I'm loving these printed boxes.
iv been building mdf and birch subwoofer enclosures for awhile now and this is truly amazing.
KZread’s how it’s made. Underrated asf and is funny as well as teaching people stuff too
It's been too long since he's put out a new video. This guy is beyond amazing. Exception knowledge base as well as practical realistic testing and samples to show the application of the principles he gives us. We want more Hexibase!
I usually listen to your videos in my car. All three subs are in a custom made infinite baffle in my BMW. Here's the setup-- - Audio Dynamics DSP68 - 2 Dayton Audio AMT Tweeters up front (4kHz-20kHz) - 4 Dayton Audio 4 inch Reference Full Range drivers (250Hz-4kHz) - 2 Audio Dynamics 1100 Series 8" subwoofers (60Hz-250Hz) - 1 Audio Dynamics 1100 10" subwoofer (20Hz-60Hz) My setup never disappoints, just like your videos. Keep them coming!

You are a crazy man and I'm a fan!. The amount of time you must have spent to make this video with the b-roll, 3d graphics, voiceover....everything is impeccable. On top of that, that build is just awesome!
It's a pleasure to watch someone with this much clue doing hobby DIY design
I just love the flow in your vids. Not a sigle intend to skip a single second!
I love these videos. I was into 3d printing and electronics and loved music. Stumbled across your 3.5" 3d printed enclosure video and it's definitely taken me down a new hobby path with speakers after completing a set. Thank you for your knowledge and time spent on these cool projects. It would be cool to have a build series of videos for a 2.1 3D printed desk set up.

Greetings from Scandinavia and esp. from Finland, an emeritus architect writing. You asked about the lenght of this (longer than usual) video. For me it was perfect. Your other videos are usual in my opinion too short with your poitively short/exact but also rather fast english thinking about your naturally growing global audience. You said podcasts, I feel strongly I ’drown in podcasts’ today so instead of going there - just perfect your already excellent videos, please. You often finish your shorter videos about an audial situation very suddenly. I have been listening intensively, for example about the problem of youtube audio quality. And I am towards the end even more intensively waiting for your personal point of view and advises about what we can do to create/invent our own solutions. Usually you keep this to yourself - and naturally I respect your reasons. Extra professional bonus you have given us out here: your exact 3D experiments have revolutionized our small architects office in producing complicated architectural miniature modells. My favourite ones - made after your own 3D projects - are created by skilful womens, by my wife and daughter studing the exact acoustics (and visual aesthetics) of interiors for music rooms, chapels, studios and - and finally private homes with a grand piano in the center (a home can be an acoustic problem but it that can be solved with knowledge).
Your test track got my home engineered and built Crossfire BMF 12 based subwoofer moving in my home stereo. It is in a very rigid sealed enclosure with a few hundred watts of class ab amplification and a 6 DB bass boost at 35 Hz. :)
Love this presentation style man! Very 'episodic' and fully featured to watch in nature, great stuff - keep bumpin'
Those "what's in trunk video's" were great! I do however, like these 3D printed enclosure videos. Every year I hold out on experimenting with 3d printing, the tech gets better. Great video, Pete!
Ridiculously thorough...I just blew threw half a dozen of your videos and was amazed with the content and presentation. I’ve been researching the Creality CR-10 and I think your comments have me sold. Keep up the great work, I have subbed and am looking forward to more great info plus projects once I get my printer. Thank you.
Listened to the video with my Jamo S803's and a self built 15" sub tuned to 18hz. This ten hits pretty deep! Makes me want to do a custom build for my car.
Yep - I have a Creality-CR10S (identical build volume yours has), with the BLTouch, and love it. You are absolutely correct we struggle for large volume print needs. I love your work, and thanks for sharing. Sounds great (via an iPad, by way of Bluetooth to Bose QC35 headset)!
You are most definitely my go to Audio KZreadr. I am planning on putting a complete diy audio system in my 2010 Audi A4 and you are helping me a massive amounts with knowledge on designing my enclosure. I have been installing "Plug and Play" Sound systems in friends cars for years now but this is my first all me enclosure. Keep on doing what you are doing, you are amazing my guy!
Audio-GD NFB-28 (2016) - Ether Cx with velour pads -- I *felt* the lows. Well played, sir.
Your videos were part of the reason i wanted to get a 3D printer , love Audio In general and that was my plan to work with this, mine should arrive next week cant wait to print an do some testing my self keep the amazing job
I absolutely love your videos! In concept you talk about numbers, volumes and aren’t just saying “I have the most bass on KZread!”...you created and narrated the perfect balance of science with fun!
I'm a long time audio nerd that's just bought a CR10s Pro V2. I think what you've created is awesome. Whether or not the layers separate with the continuous low frequencies over time is to be determined. Great job though. You never know until you have a go.
The editing is fantastic, smooth transition between video and rendered views, seamless between background music and the bass demo... amazing. Listening via my Amazon Echo buds. My next car audio purchase will be a bank of supercaps to stiffen my voltage.
I had a debate with a long time friend of mine a few months back on the efficacy of large 3D printed enclosures, and have been sending your videos as a sort of "proof of concept" with the smaller enclosures. This video alone proves that 3D printing (as slow as it is) is a valid way of creating enclosures. I do appreciate that you went for a more standard design, as with your ability to model (and print) basically any enclosure style, you could've gone for something absolutely insane, 94738924773rd order, invisible bracing with a low shelf of -60hz haha. I do agree with some of the comments stating that some internal bracing could've been used to help with the resonance, but if you say it's fine, I'll damn well believe it haha. I won't even mention the crappy cabinet my Dayton speakers are sat in, but I am using an old pair of AKG K702 headphones to listen; they do the job just fine :) Looking forward to your future endeavours as always!
I don’t comment usually but definitely appreciate the detail you put into these videos.
139dB is awesome for the sub/car/enclosure/amp combination. Great info as always, science wins everytime. So good..... love the vids.
Awesome project, thanks. I'd love to see you do a 2.1 3" setup with 2 full range and a sub in a single enclosure, running one of the cheap 2.1 bluetooth boards from Ebay.

Awesome work, you never fail to amaze the viewers!
Oh my oh my, I'm listening to this with my Klipsch Promedia 2.1 on my Pc. I felt that.
Love the video, was recently looking in to building some 6.5" speaker enclosures for my garage and I think this video solidified that's the next project. I'm listening on a set of Bose Sound Sport in-ear.
This is the second video I've watched START to FINISH and I'm very impressed with your quality, detail, craftsmanship, and your overall audiophile. I would like to suggest when making two halves try incorporating a dowel pin to help with rigidity and finding centering. Great content and thanks for the video!
Seriously underrated channel.
He does it again folks! So glad there are people willing to experiment with 3d printed speaker enclosures. I listened to this with my Sennheizer HD598 SE headphones powered by a Behringer Q802USB mixer. My next hobby project will be with audio exciters. Attach a single audio exciter to the back of an extruded polyeurethane foam panel and it creates a beautiful realistic audio presence. Gonna use the dual-3" subwoofer enclosure you created to handle the low end. The longer format of these videos are great! Tons of good information with lots of personal experience sprinkled in. Keep it up dude! ^_^
It sounds just as clean as it looks 👌
Given you point out the resonant mode of the enclosure half, I'm quite surprised you are not including some structural cross-bracing for the larger panels of the enclosure. This has got to be one of the main advantages of using a 3D printed solution since any flat panel bends under pressure. I like your production quality. I think a 15 minute video to cover something like this is completely reasonable. Videos that go beyond 20 minutes are much more cumbersome to fit into my schedule, and can be more challenging to keep the viewer's interest.

Even more so, 3d-printing offers an incredible reinforcing feature - infill. A sparse infill for the whole volume can do wonders to rigidify the enclosure, and help absorb standing waves.

MDR-XB950N1 with ExtraBass actually tuned down a little in the Sony Headphone app. Like others, I am happy consuming your content long or short form and love seeing how you are dovetailing your love (and job) in audio systems design with 3d printing. I see a CR-10v2 in my future...
Great videos! The small enclosures you’ve made motivated me to make my own “band pass” enclosure out of an old 6.5” sub and a wine box. After some tweaking it sounds surprisingly good, louder than I thought it would be. I’m no audio engineer, just been messing with this stuff for years and learning through making, your videos help kind of fine tune my general knowledge. Thanks!

Aune T1 dac/amp with russian tube, Sennheiser Amperior headphones, bass was deep and flawless, great job on the capture :)
Just discovered your videos today. Ur content & style are bang on. Keep it coming 😎 thanks
I need to meter my two 12s. A 139 is impressive for what that is. Really shows what a proper enclosure can do.
Nicely done as always :D i'm daily driving your 6 1/2" enclosure because of weight... it's nice and light also the output of the enclosure really surprised me. I was listening on 2x Fostex Fe206En with backloaded horns + Alpine SWR1542 in sealed encloure ;)
I was listening on my home build, smacked together system which consists of Two Jamo Compact 90s with some newly installed tweeters (JBL) and bass drivers (Cervinwega) and extended bass ports made out of plumbing tubes. MTX Black Gold 12 subwoofer the one with plexiglas. The speakers runs on a Pioneer SX-337 with no subwoofer output so i drive the subwoofer using a zone mixer and a car amp (600wrms). Great video!
Seemed like it played well below the tuning of enclosure. Listened to it on my shop setup with a 10 boston g3 in 2:1 4th order. Although i have my parametric adding +5db @ 26hz i could still tell the bass extension dug deep in your 3d printed box. Excellent work bro.
Wow dude the transition from you talking about the sub to the 3d animation of your design.. Bravo
Loved the narration, the cut from inside the 3d enclosure, editing and information. This should be part of college "how to make technical and entertaining videos".
Amazing the music is just the two mics 👍🤜🤛
The presentation style is great! You managed to convey all the information any normal person would want to know about a 3d printed sub box and the featured creality printer. Also i'm using Audio Technica ATH-M40X's (i think they're pretty great).

What we need now is an automated toolchain for generating enclosures, something where you can just plug in your speaker specs, car model, and pick from a few designs specific to your use case. That would be the biggest advantage over something more conventional.

I can’t wait for the day you decide to venture into a MEH! Your videos are always informative and a treat.... Maybe one day a print bed will be big enough to print a front loaded or tapped horn!

I love your videos. Very easy to watch and love how you test all the end results.
Hexi is world class at what he does. And I am intrigued even though I don’t know half of his knowledge or technical jargon.
Top shelf as always, man! And for a single 10, that system you put together there is unbelievable. I've heard dual 18s that weren't that tight down low. Classy driver and solid cabinet. I listen with a repurposed Sony home theater receiver serving as a TOSLINK DAC, driving a pair of 20-year-old Sony MDR-V600s. (I know, I know, but I'm USED to them....) When I'm not trying to listen to subwoofers over KZread compression, I've got a pair of Dayton B652 bookshelf speakers driven by that same receiver. For being an extreme budget setup (the receiver was free!), I'm happy with the result.
Hah! I got a new Sonic LTZ hatch for my sister back in 2013. The metallic blaxk looked pretty sweet, some plastidip on the chevy badges and rims made it look pretty mean. An e85 sensor, injectors and a tune woke up the little 1.4 and a 10" sub made it sound pretty good. What a fun little ride!
You're way more patient than I am. Whenever I print speaker enclosures I print at a 0.3mm layer height with 150mm/s (I use corexy, and I can recommend a few if you want a fun experience), and would do a print like that in 1-2 days. Currently working on an enclosure for a 12 sub with a slot, and housing for a 2 inch midrange dome and 1 inch tweeter. Also for parts like that I highly recommend you look into CA glue, which is much stronger, meant for this plastic, and can fill gaps
4 жыл бұрын
I was going to mention CA. I tried it, and it literally is stronger than the PLA itself! Epoxy is probably overkill or even a bit worse. Some video mentioned that CA was the best so I had to try it. I used an accelerant for one of the surfaces, but Im still amazed at how durable it is!

My CR-10S is broken AF right now. :( Very good video as usual. I've been thoroughly enjoying my wood pla version of your 3" sub enclosure with the two tang band 3" full range enclosures. Makes for a perfect desktop system. Next, I would like to follow your footsteps in redesigning a new (very custom) enclosure for the rear trunk area of our Audi Q5. Right now, it has a small 6" sub in the spare tire and it just doesn't dig deep enough for my liking. Love the long format video. Cannot believe that printer did all that without a single hitch. Mine would have gone through every possible problem you mentioned. I constantly have to babysit it. Yesterday, it got completely off calibration and makes a horrible noise upon printing (belt skipping teeth due to calibration). I've got 3000+ hours on that printer. It was a great purchase, but I got to figure out how to fix it. At home, I listen to music on a pair of Accoustat Model X's hooked up to individual Vacuum tube amplifiers. I got them from my uncle(massive audiphile). I've yet to hear anything that outplays those speakers(and their from 1975!).
I've learned a lot from your channel and I look forward to more content!
Very nice design.
