10 steps to gybe - step 2 the non planing gybe

Спорт

A second clip from Peter Hart and Dave White's brilliant new DVD '10 steps to gybing.'
Many people struggle with the carve gybe because they've never mastered the basic version.
In this the second step, Harty and Whitey describe the non-planing (a.k.a. 'flare') gybe highlighting which elements are common to the carve gybe.

My gybes are getting a lot better since watching this vid. While practising yesterday I could literally hear Peter's voice in my head talking me through it.

Thank you very much for sharing this. I practiced this jibe for 3 surf sesions and today I succesfully completed my first carve jibe. This video did the trick for me! Thanks!

I must have probably watched this video 10 times in the last 3 days. Really love your narrative! Second day trying out what you say in light wind today - with a heavy rental 7.5m sail - good for muscle training.

I've been practicing but unable to turn to board further after it points directly downwind. Watching this again, I think I didn't sheet in at that point as the video suggested... Will try again with this in mind!

Hi Matthew. There were different filming sessions but most of the time I was either on a 6.2 in about 18-20 knots - or an 8.0 (the yellow Tushingham) in about 12 knots)
