I am a saree hoarder. And people give me sarees because I wear them and maintain them so nicely. They give me their own sarees in lots, to wear them , my sister, mother, sister-in law. I also have lots of unique matching imitation jewellery. I used to work in a college. There were many young “fans” and “followers” I had. One birthday I took 25 sarees and 25 jewellery sets in plastic saree covers and gave them all away as gifts to them. They were all in perfect condition and they just loved them, even now they send photos wearing them. I did the same to books. My father passed and I kept a few things we loved and gave away everything else to Goonj.

Attachment with detachment is a big attribute to ever achieve in life, when you give away things your cherish most that’s when it starts seeping in and I believe you have reached that space. We must be kind to others .. why people buy things, sometime in large numbers, why they store them, why it is difficult to declutter and why it is suddenly motivating, all these are related to deep personal issues. We must encourage people when they declutter rather than ask them why they have hoarded and how they should buy things or not. Great steps Priyanka ! I’m sure if it comes to that, you will again meaningfully declutter, and donate generously. Great idea to find out where you can meaningfully donate.

Mam..bartano ko kaha pe donate karu ...mere pass bahut sare naye bartan hain...phele family badi thi r ab nuclear family hain r itne bartan hain ki meri bacchi k shaadi k time ghar par function par use aane wale bartan hain jaise bade bade patile, vagera vagera sab naye hain...mere family members k sabhi k ghar me already sabke ghar mein aisa hi hain ..hamare yaha parampara thi ki shaadi k 5 din pehle se 100 logon ka khana ghar pe ladies cook karthi hain toh ghar par itne sare bartan rakhthe hi hain...jaise ki 100 vatki,100 glass,100 thaliyan,20 baltiyan,kamandal,25 parat,bahut kuch ...par aaj kal sab bhade pe milta hai 6a samaj se laakar rakhthe hain...toh phir recently ab mere in saaman kya karu ...

Hi Geetha … I understand your situation… app apne shahar ke anathalaya avum vardhashram ke no’s Google se le sakti hain… unhe call karein aur unki zarurat poochein, kai aisi sansthayon ko batanon ki bahut zarurat hoti hai. Unse baat karein agar woh aakar le jaayein ya aap bhi wahan jaakar donate kar sakti hai. 👍

Bila zarurat samaan lena he nhi chahiye
