Honorable mention: During Kurt Angles debut babyface run he kept getting booed. Vince relayed the ref to tell Kurt to insult the crowd, so he took the mike and said "Listen here, you do not boo an Olympic gold medalist!" and a heel superstar was born
Mick Foley calling an audible against Triple H at Royal Rumble 2000. Instead of doing a single pedigree and that’s that. Mick kicked out (to a legit shocked Trips) and told his ring partner to do another one onto the thumbtacks in the ring. Made both look like beasts, just for opposite reasons. And made an epic match that much better.

You missed out one of the most important: Giant Baba changing the result of the GOAT Misawa Mitsuharu vs Jumbo Tsuruta. Baba saw and heard the support the crowd had for Misawa before the event began on June 8th 1990, so he sent a messenger backstage to change the result for Misawa to win shortly before they went out there. This launched the greatest era in pro wrestling history.

Regarding the Flair Flop, I was watching some boxing highlights and a guy got hit so hard, he went down popped back up and then went down again. You could tell he had no control of himself. It wasn't as refined as the Flair Flop but it certainly reminded me of it. So it's not entirely out of the realm of possibility.

Haha I'm pretty sure it was Zab Judah when he fought Kostya Tsyzu. Judah did an almost perfect 'Flair Flop' but it definitely wasn't intentionally, but it was one of the funniest endings to a boxing match ever Haha
Overscripting really is the biggest issue imo. Give your stars the outline, let them cut their own promo, and work from there. Everything flows better when they arent trying to remember their lines and they can just let themselves get caught up in the moment and fire off a line. Maybe some will flop, but that happens with the scripted events anyways. The guys who can sell the promos and the fights are the ones who deserve their spot on the roster. Not whoever vince randomly decides will be the next big thing no matter what the fans think. Show some flexibility in the writer room, work with what the crowds like and hate. Most of all, give vince some freaking thorazine so he can relax his stranglehold on the company a bit.
The People's Elbow was made to get the Undertaker to break character. The dumbest move became the most electrifying move and yet it doesn't make the list.
So on smackdown vs raw 06 the flair flop was a taunt, and if you were in a last man standing match and you used it, you could lose the match with it 😂 man i miss those old video games.

You should really look into how the People's Elbow came to be - a joke by HHH and Rock on trying to get Undertaker to laugh.
I never thought the Montreal Screwjob was a work BUT... Bret Hart, the guy who had big heat with Shawn, and had no heat with Diesel but STILL refused to take his finish in their 96 cage match, let Shawn put him in his OWN finish?? Something about that always seemed off.
John Cena got his "you can't see me" from Tony Yayo.. Yayo had just got back from jail and did it in his "So Seductive" video with G-Unit

It's funny that Nia Jax gets her own problem pot.
@TG-mj4cs

It's because she is dangerous in the ring, like people get legitimately injured because she botches so much. She had potential while she was in NXT, and was brought up way too early. She is still pretty damn green in alot of areas, but they wanted a "monster" on the women's roster. Oh and she is related to the Rock, so I am sure that had something to do with it, too.
(raises hand politely) Actually, Mr. Socko was originally Al Snow's idea. When coming up with ideas for the skit where Mankind tries to cheer up a recovering, bed-ridden Vince, Al Snow suggested using a sock puppet. And Mr. Socko was born... Come to think about it, between that and Steve Austin's bedpan shot, a lot of classic moments happened while Vince was in that hospital bed.
Cena still getting props for stealing from Tony Yayo
The mandible claw was supposed to be painful because it's fingers in your mouth under your tongue and the thumb under your chin, trying to touch the two together. At least that's how it first started from what I remember. Don't quote me on that

Top Christopher Biggins reference. Merry Christmas
Great job on the video.🍻
Simon got them crazy eyes. I kinda like your old narration more- it looks and sounds annoyed lately as opposed to the light hearted style from older videos. I dunno- it’s nothing bad, just different. I still love your channel though. This channel frequently brings up old and varied wrestling matches from back in the day, which prompts me to watch those matches which bring back awesome memories.
"Tony Montana (Hannah's dad)" I simultaneously hate and love this channel so much hahahahaha

Mr. Socko - "Credit to him" Nope - credit to Al Snow. When the hospital visit segment was being built, Mick was trying to think of more ridiculous things to bring as presents like the balloons and Yurple The Clown. Al suggested a sock puppet. Mick admitted this in his first book.

Ya but they didn't have to deal with thousands of lawsuits coming in like rain. It's hard to allow creativity to flourish when a few wrong words or a couple wrong interpretations could literally shut you down.
Guys please just add some clips after you explain it. You guys are informative and interesting the only thing that doesn't make you guys the "go-to" videos for me is the missing clips of the event happening. I mean I wanna see the video of the things you guys are explaining so that it becomes more clear rather than just pictures.

The U can’t C Me is a homage to the Yayo Dance by rapper Tony Yayo who used to do something similar in his videos

3 жыл бұрын
Yep, it tied in to Cena’s rapping gimmick
"Not enough Gangrel" hahahaha
Not enough Gangrel. LOL, I love it. However, you really skipped the much better story of Mr. Socko, he was an improvized bit, but it was in a promo where Vince was in the hospital (due to a beating from Stone Cold) and Mankind was trying to cheer Vince up with lame gifts, and then got the idea to grab a pen and a sock, dive under Vince's bed and come up with a lame sockpuppet and came out with 'Mister Socko says to turn that frown upside down!' Vince finally throws Mick out of his room, and his last words were a disgusted 'mister socko!' and Sockomania ran wild. Fans wanted to see it, and a few days later....the socko claw was born.
And Number 1.......... FIRING ADAM
The intercontinental title was so much more back then that being IC champ was a big deal...sooo ya, I think that’s why. To be World Champ was only for the elite back then too (or political).
so basically Jake Roberts getting drunk as a teenager is what would eventually lead to Stone Cold being famous ?
Oh that's easy, if Scott hall did that soldier gimmick in WWF it would have went over as well as his time as the Diamond Stud or Nash as OZ in WCW. Seriously look up Kevin Nash OZ WCW it's hilarious almost as hilarious as when he was repacked as Vinnie Vegas

Every time you would see Flair in the ring and someone would throw him against the turnbuckle he would flip over it and land on the apron every time. Always having that dizzy expression. lol

one other "famous yet spontaneous" move was the People's Elbow itself...i forgot exactly how he put it, but TripleH was on some interview discussing the night that the Rock debuted possibly his Most Electrifying move, saying that Rock was telling him "hey, check this shit out, its gonna make people flip the roof off this place" and so he sets up with it, throwing off the armband, dashing from rope to rope (TripleH called it "the Hokiest fuckin move ive ever seen") but with that little legkick to a dropped elbow, the crowd indeed erupted for it...1, 2, 3, Rock wins, AND he gains a signature finisher...

Wrong on the socko bit. The sock came first. THEN after signs popped up, he used it for the claw.
Shame on you guys for not mentioning that John Cena stoled the U Can’t See Me gesture from the rapper Tony Yayo. At the time in 2003 when 50 Cent’s biggest song “In Da Club” was released, at the end of the music video, you will see Tony Yayo doing the gesture. Around the time John and his brother claimed to have just randomly start doing it. Well, it’s because of that video and Tony Yayo.
