I think Stygian Revery and Shell Soldier looks promising. But for the Shell game, I think the same way, it's too clean. A game like this needs something special, like complete destruction (Teardown, Selaco, Red Faction etc.) or an physics overkill (Trepang2). These games have surely potential, but at the bottom line, they are very generic and basic. Hope they will get good. Good video Zlim and thx for the info 👍

Totally agree with you! However sometimes just a generic good feeling shooter is all I need haha 😁 But it has to have something to make it stick out from all other games for sure :) Thanks predator ❤️

8:35 I agree damage feedback is super important in shooters. It's so satisfying to shoot enemies in Killing Floor 2 because you can really feel the impact of your weapons. This is one aspect that more developers should focus on

This is exactly why I cannot stand canned death animations or enemies just vanishing (which somehow always qualifies as "gibbing")

This channel is under rated. I have increased my Steam backlog library by 19% in the past month because of this channel! ( I know my backlog is massive, but I'm buying titles so I never run out of games to play when I retire.)

I havent played many quake-likes but that first game looks fun. Has some wacky melee weapons and a colour palette I find pretty

Yeah I think so too, just saw they got an alpha demo version 2 out tho with three maps and more guns so they seem to be making fairly fast progress atleast 😁

You get some good brownie points for putting CARNAL on here! I've combed through the Steam Library for Retro FPS games many times in the past and CARNAL stood out for being just 1$ or even cheaper during a sale. It's very, very weird and a bit difficult sometimes but I think considering it's super cheap price it's overall a good game. The level themes are nice and the gameplay while nothing mind blowing is simple and fun. An easy recommend from me, plus it's really easy to 100% all the achievements

11:28 I like blood and gore in shooters but it's not mandatory for me. In this case I don't mind it because the robots look quite original and it makes up for the lack of blood

I bought Anomalous like a year ago and that looks totally different from what I remember. I think that game got massively overhauled because I don't remember grapple mechanics even.

I got to play a a closed beta of Cyber Combat lately, and it's already so polished I can't understand the dev didn't release it as a demo for Next Fest. The Tron one reminds me of Audiosurf (which always reminded me of Tron). 5:18 Another SPAS-12 set on pump mode AND, as per typical, its stock is permanently folded up into its storage position. 9:11 No sights?! If there's no ADS, then it's just an aesthetic choice, but I can't help noticing it. Seems to be a trope that's unique to the 21st century. All the time we're seeing flat-top firearms with Picatinny rails without sights in pop culture (or a fixed front sight but no rear sight). I think I first noticed it on 'The Walking Dead', then realized that it was everywhere. Like, how does anyone (directors, prop masters, etc.) not understand that if a flat-top firearm doesn't already have sights you're expected to get some and put them on there?! Video games get a lot of their bad habits from movies (like leaving folding or collapsible stocks in their storage position for no reason). Edit/Note: And sometimes the prop master remembers to put sights on the gun, but the actors leave the sights folded. Yeah, even sights can fold for storage. 9:42 "Silver Phoenix" reminds me of "Red Falcon" from Contra! 10:15 'WALL-E' meets Serious Sam! 10:33 Retro "record player" style of machine gun, maybe?! Like a Lewis Gun or a DP-series machine gun. The DP was muh fave in Red Orchestra 2.

@@ZlimBratSki If you like WALL-E, you might also like '9' which has an aesthetic similar to Little Big Planet which came out before the feature film, '9', but after the original short film. Also, '9' leans more into the dystopian Dieselpunk aesthetic (and Shane Acker refers to the main characters as "Stitchpunks").

If you like the shotgun in Shell Soldier, may I recommend Guncaster? It has an 8 barrel pump action shotgun that fires every one of those barrels at the same time. With appropriate recoil and appropriate carnage.

There are so many titles in development right now. I can list a few you might have missed here or in earlier videos: They Came From Dimendions X - completely unique experience with unique game mechanics, Retchid - a lovelettere to System Shock 2, Fallen Aces - one of the best "cartoonish" looking games out there. Also: Hyperviolent, Trepang2 (Fear on steroids), Fortune's Run, Incision, The Invincible, Arthurian Legends, COVEN, Exophobia, Voltage High Society. We are being spoiled these days.

Got Carnal for fifty cents. Haven't played it yet but it actually looks kind of good. Better than it has any right to be anyway. There's a bit of a Slayers X vibe too it. That Stygian Revery game also looks like something I'd like if it ever comes out. I would also like to recommend another weird game that didn't make it onto this list but should have, Calcium Contract. I played the demo and it was actually really good and I can't wait for the full version.

The main problem is that the FPS creator engine is very unoptimized and extremely hard to get running well.

That's a great idea! But right now I have so much content for PC that I want to get through and seeing I dont really game on mobile myself I wont cover that now. But who knows maybe in the future. Thanks for the suggestion tho :)

@@ZlimBratSki There is so much going on on mobile. Gzdoom on mobile, regular games etc. and controller support is a big deal and important topic to cover. Controller support makes games so much better on mobile and gives planty of room for making videos. Which games not support controllers at all, which one supports specific controller and which one supports all controllers including playstation, xbox and nintendo. Believe me with controller support you will enjoy. Its like playing new doom on ps5.

@@xxMKtooStronk__ Yeah I tried it :) I used to play some xbox cloud games with controller on mobile and my son still does, I just dont enjoy it as much as a PC experience right now. I'm pretty sure that will change with time tho, in the future most things will be mobile

And yes if you ever try to do that you can also test and make a videos about which tehnology is the best for playing mobile shooters on tv and turn mobile into console. I try it with bluetooth and its too slow. Maybe some super special awesome cabels can fix the problem. Shooters are very popular on consoles so if mobile can be used as console then its great.

"Doomed"? Seriously? That's like me making an FPS and calling it "Call Of Dutied". Like come on lol. Were they just hoping to slip into the algorithms by having a near identical name to the best FPS of all time? I think so. Guys I'm forming a metal band called Metallicah. A completely original name I came up with all on my own.

Retro shooters are still retro shooters. Then you have modern retro shooter that got the name boomer shooter from a meme of a zoomer looking back at the gold old retro shooters and wishing games were that good now (Like boomers typically do, looking back and saying things were better before) and now the wave of modern retro shooters then got the name Boomer shooters
