I’m touring East Malaysia now for one Month, I have been to Kuching, Miri, Kota Kinabalu and Sibu and what Mr. Gibbon says is true, I honestly have never experienced a place with people this friendly and welcoming, I’ve been amazed at just how nice and friendly the people here really are. I Will be going back to Kuching in two days for my last week here in East Malaysia. I can’t wait to get some more of the amazing laksa and of course the incredible seafood at Topspot.
Since Malaysians were once part of a multicultural society, we do not consider immigrants to be strangers. We don't care if they are immigrants or indigenous because there are many different races of individuals in our country. However, we naturally extend additional kindness to visitors from abroad since we are interested in learning about their reasons for visiting and what they find appealing about our country. In general, Malaysians are just as amiable as individuals from other Southeast Asian countries.
My fiance is Malaysian, visited for the first time in November. What a place, amazing!!!! I feel like i will movw there in a few years

I'm moving to Kuching in August of this year. Your videos have helped ease my nerves about moving to another country, and I really can't thank you enough for it. I've never been more excited for anything in my life, and you've absolutely contributed to that by making these videos. Thanks, Nick.

Hey! Thanks for watching! I live in Sarawak too - the most amazing state in Malaysia (to me)!
Again a great video! Thanks a lot for it! I felt in love with Malaysia already some years ago, and very much with Kuching last February , so I will come back in the next month of march again and -yes, I would like to live in this amazing country- and I am still thinking about it. I am already retired and I have plenty of time. All the best for you from a German guy living in Spain!

Welcome move to Malaysia in 2024
Hey, our hotel was by that bridge. Convince my wife to move and I'm there! We go to Malaysia quite often to escape the winter cold here in Northern California, but wife will not move, period! Her words exactly. :) We spent 2 weeks in your city last September. We were supposed to be there a month, but wife was bored and said let's go back to KL. LOL. We were there in KL in January last year and again this February. Why does Sarawak require us to go through immigration again when coming from inside the country? Thought that was weird. KLIA may be one of the busiest, but there still isn't a direct flight from SFO! Our hotel was right down that street, but I swear that white building was on the other side of the street when we were there. They moved it? :)
Wow
Ok, I believe you forgot the safety factor of Malaysia - no guns!!!! Also, before your viewers just move here, they do need to get a visa for LT stays. MM2H visa rules just changed to be slightly easier.
@GlobalGibbon
4 ай бұрын
Indeed, Malaysia is a very safe country. Guns are almost impossible to find. Only some locals can have shotguns for hunting, but that’s it. You’re right, to stay here for a long time you’ll need one of the various long term visas😉
Two Malay words used in English are, "Sarung" cloth worn around the waist and "Orangutan" a type of Monkey.

There are so many english words borrow from malay language. For example : compound (kampong), sampan, sarong, durian, rambutan, cockatoo (kakaktua), mango (mangga), dugong, tapir, kris (keris), junk (jong), amok (amuk), sambal, parang, sundang, silat, etc..

I heard that you can start a business at Langkawi for 3000 dollar and an anual sum of 1400 dollar. That will make you resident. Do you know about this?
Unfortunately, recent visa regulations and the processing times ruined the experience. Retirees are looking for stability and Malaysia is no longer willing to provide it.

True, the federal MM2H programme is failing. Nevertheless, Sarawak has its own programme and is still rather attractive!
@mjgrubert

@@GlobalGibbon True, it's better than the federal program. But the processing time of 18 to 24 months is killing it for me. As a digital nomad with kids in school I don't have the flexibility to live so long in a state of uncertainty.
A bit of correction. 1. Longest bridge in asean is in Brunei 2. Oldest rainforest is daintree australia however peninsula and borneo have one of the oldest in the world.

Hey nick. Sorry to correct you but when u said the "twin tower's here" is actually in Kuala Lumpur. But when u say "here" u r in Kuching.
