10 Reasons Not to Move to Australia

Australia is often thought of as a land of endless sunshine, beautiful beaches, and a laid-back lifestyle. However, for some people, the reality of living in Australia can be quite different. From its remote location, to the high cost of living, and extreme weather conditions, there are several reasons why Australia may not be the best place for everyone. Whether you're considering a move for work, study, or just a change of scenery, it's important to weigh the pros and cons and consider whether Australia is the right fit for you. In this guide, we'll explore some of the reasons why you may want to reconsider a move to Australia.
10. Too many rules
Australia is known for being a country with a strong legal system, but for some, the number of rules and regulations can be overwhelming. From strict laws about driving and alcohol consumption, to the regulations around owning firearms, many people find the sheer number of rules to be a major con. This can make it difficult for some to adjust to life in Australia, especially for those who are used to more relaxed attitudes towards laws and regulations in other countries. Additionally, the penalties for breaking the rules in Australia can be severe, with fines and even imprisonment being used as consequences. For those who are considering a move to Australia, it's important to be aware of the strict legal system and to familiarize yourself with the rules before you arrive.
9. Bad driving culture
Australia's driving culture has been a source of frustration for many newcomers to the country. From poor road infrastructure, to aggressive and dangerous driving habits, it can be a challenge to feel safe on the roads. The high number of accidents and road fatalities, particularly in rural areas, is a major concern for many drivers. Additionally, many drivers in Australia are not familiar with the rules of the road and ignore basic traffic safety principles, such as using seat belts and following speed limits. These factors can make driving in Australia a stressful and potentially dangerous experience. For those who are considering a move to Australia, it's important to be aware of these issues and to take steps to stay safe while driving. This might include getting additional training, familiarizing yourself with the road rules, or even choosing alternative modes of transportation.
8. Places close early
In Australia, places close early compared to many other countries. This is usually due to the stringent regulations on trading hours set by the government. Stores and businesses in most states must close no later than 6 pm during weekdays and between 2 pm-4pm on weekends. Restaurants are allowed to stay open until 10pm, but may only serve alcohol up until midnight. Takeaway outlets can remain open late into the night with some cities allowing them to stay open as late as 4am or 5am. These rules vary from state to state so it’s important for visitors to be aware of local laws when travelling around Australia.
7. Poor internet connectivity
Poor internet connectivity in Australia is a major issue that affects many Australians. Many people in rural and remote areas of the country have limited access to broadband, while those living in cities often experience slow speeds or poor service due to inadequate infrastructure. This has caused frustration amongst users as they are unable to use online services such as streaming video, gaming and social media. Additionally, businesses suffer from poor internet connection which leads to loss of productivity and income. Furthermore, students who depend on the internet for their studies are hindered by low bandwidths which prevent them from accessing educational websites or downloading necessary materials for their courses. The Australian Government needs to take swift action in order address this problem by investing more resources into improving its network infrastructure so all citizens can benefit from reliable internet connectivity.

I'm Australian & definitely disagree with this statement. Compared to Europe, Australia has much higher cost of living & taxes for no reason, limited market choices since we produce little to nothing & mostly depended on the junk from Godd*mn China. Road structure looks like it's been made by individuals who hated humanity & wanted to cause as much crashes as possible, as for renting/owning a home, you can forget about it.

Australia is a physically beautiful country. The country is rich in minerals like Bauxite, Lithium lithium, gold, lead, diamond, rare earth elements, uranium, and zinc. Australia is also known for high crime rate and murder. Everyday somebody gets shot /stabbed in one of the state's, cars stolen at point blank or weoponised house/shop burglary. This trend will continue to grow and may surpass many third world countries. Murderers are always considered mentally unwell, so they are always pardoned in Aussie and send for mental health/counselling. The law is flawed and often lenient for criminals and murderers to get back in the community and continue with the same deeds. A synopsis from Land down under Where women glow and men plunder Can't you hear, can't you hear the thunder? You better run, you better take cover.

It would see the 600,000+ that have moved to Australia in 2023 don't seem too perturbed by this list. As snakes go, 2-3 people die in a year and 1-2 people per year by croc attacks; hardly big numbers. I'll agree the driving is pretty bad for a developed country and we do have flooding and cyclone events, but not everywhere and mostly in areas with low population density.

being an australian and loving my country very dearly; to any foreign person who wants to visit, please don't. Our country is fucked, don't expect our government to be fixing it any time soon. These (very correct and accurate) issues that were labelled probably aren't on the minds of our politicians. One of our recent prime ministers (Scott Morrison) was the man in charge who basically abandoned his country with a "vacation" to Hawaii during a fucking wildfire crisis and ONLY CAME BACK because we were extremely upset about it. He was also the same man who shat himself at a McDonalds and spent his valuable governing time on several talk shows using the political version of "Nuh-Uh." (this is only two of the things Scott Morrison has done) Driving is also a big issue here, you don't have to look hard enough to find a recent story about some dipshit who skulled a 12 pack of tinnies, jumped in the Ol' ford jeep and then plowed through a family of 5, killing 3 in the back and sending the front passenger to the hospital in critical condition, before wrapping himself round a tree and not living long enough to experience the guilt once sobered up. Roadworks are a joke (be fucked if they're working on the shit that actually matters) and you should be praising whatever god there is that you actually survived cycling anywhere. Cyclists (and motorcyclists to some extent) are NOT RESPECTED on the roads. PLEASE pay attention to your surroundings if you're enjoying your bike rides here because you are almost invisible to some people. Strict Laws are an issue, and to a small degree so is the police force. While a lot cops are very chill here, that does not mean some don't abuse the power they have. You could easily end up with a cop who just isn't having a good day and things just might not go your way. Americans may also get thrown off by the very strict gun laws which is fair enough for recreational use (though I still think having the laws is good, we have less mass shootings in total compared to America's number of SCHOOL shootings. (surprisingly mentally under-developed kids not having easy access to guns is safer than having access)) there's a lot to talk about, but to cap it all off. just move to England or something, the worst that could happen is maybe a light shanking.

Im 51 & i want to leave Australia. South Australia is 1 of the states that pays the highest electricity in THE WORLD! Aust pays the highest in tobacco, food, petrol we pay double what USA does & thats after the dollar is converted, land & rent is astronomical, police fines have trippled. Police in South Australia pick on road users so bad now, some people are too scared to drive at night. I finish work at 3am & i get picked up for no reason then being asked "why are you out driving at this time" like derr they can see im wearing a work top but they like to hassle everyone they can & get their quota's up. 28 yrs ago i was miscarriaging & i waited in the hospital waiting area for 3 hrs before i was seen. Can you imagine what its like now. We've had our right to defend ourselves taken away, we cant even carry a baseball bat in the car, if cops see it in the car we get charged for having a weapon- its ludicrus. We lost our car manufacturing industry Holden, Ford, Mitzubishi & Toyota factories all gone. We grow cheap ass rice here & yet we send our steel to china to manufacture then we buy this cheap weak ass crappy steel that you can bend with your own hands back from China Australia has nothing to look forward to, nothing good to build on. Politicians pass laws behind our backs, if we protest about it, we get put in jail, all us commoners have learnt not to stand up for our rights, we dont have the bill of rights, the 2nd amendment (i wonder why our government wont let us) we simply dont say anything anymore we bend over & spread our asscheeks & say how wide. This guy here is even commenting on how much immigrant's we take in... wow! I love this this country especially our animals but a lot people dont even respect that animals have a right to live in peace too. Animal cruelty penalitys are so weak- an offender gets 1 yr of not being allowed to own a pet & a fine thats it! In the US a person whos convicted of being cruel to animals goes to jail & gets treated as if they were a pedophile- why does this not happen in Australia, only reason i can think of is that most Aussies dont care about animals. Australia is going down the toilet its a simple as that

Mildly informative, to outright misleading. A lot of it seems to be simply made up to arrive at the " magic " number 10. My favourite - Australian driving habits. Compared to Europe ( i'll leave some Asian countries right out of this ) Australians drive like gentlemen, with rare exceptions. Europe seems to be populated by 500 million mind readers who know exactly what the other is doing. Indications or sticking to the posted speed limits - not in Europe ! This is possibly part of the " limited freedoms " or " too many laws ". Shops closing that early - when have you been last in Australia? In all, must do better !

Living safe or living detached. When ppl are coming together globally n distances r reducing to bring ppl closer,Australia is one such country which is isolated. One of the main reasons for high expenses of daily needed items as none is grown or manufacturrd in Austtalia. They sll hve to be imported from other countries. Imagine the expenses thst increases due to the travel. Also online order ehich wud just take a day in other countries, it takes two weeks in Australia. Only ppl who want live like tarzan disconnected with world like it being isolated without ny facilities. I feel as if i m living in a stone age in Australia..

There is strict gun control in Asutralia which means that schools never get shot up and gun violence almost never happens. Much better to have a 'free' society where children at school have to learn drills for when their school is invaded by a crazed gunman. And it's disappointing to have to drive on roads where other drivers are strictly polliced on their drug and alcohol consumption. Your other 9 points are equally valid for why you would not want to live in Australia. Well at least you didn't begin your video knocking Australia with the New Zealand flag, like others have done.
