Great list. Since I'm at the non-beginning end of my kayaking life, (69 yo), the light weight and the portability and the flat water use all work great for me, especially since I now only kayak a few times a year. So I was super excited to get my Inlet. I love watching your adventures with the other Stephanie on the Florida rivers - our window of opportunity up north is much shorter - but NO gators.

Thank you very much. We have 4 fiberglass kayaks but since we are getting older I thought the lighter kayaks would be nice, but having to be so much more careful where you launch and care for them has really been helpful.

Funny how this video is getting more views about NOT to buy an Oru Kayak than your other video about the good points 😆 Everyone is searching for bad points... but I LOVE my Oru Inlet Kayak!! Best thing I've ever bought!! I've found a whole new activity since getting my kayak and I'd never give that up! 😀

I think it makes totally sense. Most people watching it are probably considering it already and know the benefits from adverts or other reviewers, who only speak about good things, but not only because of the prices, but also for safety reasons it's important to know about the downsides and not many speak in detail about these things.

Thank you, Steph - this is a well stated piece and your wrap-up is very credible - even with all the "not-to" reasons, you still have a reason to like this product!

Hm i wonder if Oru can create a halfway disposable cover for the bottom part to increase the overall durability and avoid scratches/damage on concrete launches. Yes this will ad some weight and buildup time but the benefit might be good in the longlivety of the kayak. Maybe they should look info that.

I bought four Oru Kayak Lakes (one for each family member) and putting them in the water this summer ☀️ Can’t wait!

My Lake will never equal those Wilderness and Old Towne rentals for fighting current and breeze but on clement days with the rental office closed, I can go a couple miles in trusted waters. I met a Lake paddler/fisherman who had fixed a leak with Flex Tape, so longevity is relative.

Great video! Really highlighted the issues well. I always have to remind myself that for a clean launch, I'll have to get my feet wet and not drag the kayak across rocks. Can I ask what kind of paddle that is?

They should make a liner that covers the bottle of the kayak. The plastic would provide the structure and the liner would add protection and sealant

I have the Oru Lake and the Tucktec foldable kayak. The Tucktec is way more comfortable, it tracks better because it comes with a skeg and it’s cheaper. It also feels more durable.

Tucktec has a 3 years warranty so even if it is not durable you know you have a kayak for 3 years I'm not sure yet if I will buy a Tucktec or an inflatable though

I love the warning not to expose to sunlight.

I think I never cleaned/washed my foldable kayak and keep it in garage :D

Do you think it could work with fishing?

I am not a recreational kayak enthusiast. I am strictly interested In owning one of these models to use for waterfowl rescue. That being the case, the cheapest option is tempting. But I’m also wondering if the slightly shorter “Lake” model might provide increased maneuverability. I’m guessing a shorter length might make turning on a dime easier than a longer-bodied kayak. Please provide feedback if you have any insight to offer on this subject! -Thanks!

I find the lake model very easy to move in the water. It's a little challenging for some to stay straight, but I have not had an issue. They do sell a skeg that would probably help with that.

Im 6' 2" and 205 pounnds. I don't feel very big. I dunno. But this means I couldn't use one if these right? I thought I was cool. Forgot I gotta bring gear.

You might be more comfortable in the Beach LT. From the Oru website: Max paddler height: 6'6" (198 Cm) / Weight capacity: 300 Lbs (136 kg)

Don't you have alligators in every water in FL?

I got one for my wife - way too cumbersome and complicated for how expensive it was. Sent it back.

I want to buy one so bad but dont have enough money so im saving!

Get the Tucktec instead. I’ve got the Oru Lake and the Tucktec.

The only real reason is possibly number 10. The other reasons don’t fit the valid reasons to not buy an ORU. As they apy to all small kayaks. Disclaimer: I own the Lake model and have used it only one time and that was 7 days ago. I also have had fiber glass and few plastic ones.

If you love your kayak , then they are not ten reasons. Not to buy it , they are ten reasons to be Aware of when buying it . You love your oru kayak , so then do others , you still do a good review though with many practical points , thank you
