10 Questions about Finland (and Dodos)

Комедия

Here are 10 things about Finland (and me), in the previous video I asked you to send me questions about Finland, now I selected the 10 most common questions and answered them like "biggest cultural shock?", "finnish food" and dangerous ones like "what girls are better? russian or finnish?".

    great perspective Diego what you said "if the worst complaint you have about a country is the weather, you live in a damn good country". You are very right. Lots of people are somewhat stuck living in some very unfair, unjust etc. countries.

    It's not only about the weather, but often weather defines the lifestyle. I'm a Finn but I live in Spain. In Finland your life circles around home for 6 or more months a year. In Spain life is outside of home and more social and active every day of the week and throughout the year.

  • @MrZetor

    @MrZetor

    Elena Perez "Is there any topic that is controversial in Finland but not in another countries?" No, not really. We never had slaves, let alone colonies, so all the 'muh razizzm' / hwhite man's guilt stuff does not touch us. Our language is explicitly gender neutral, so none of the 'intersectional' Anglo BS gender accusations make any sense. Yet the 'cancel culture' has finally reached us too. Age-old terms like spokesman (puhemies) are being banned. Not because women asked for it, but because a tiny minority of extreme far-left ideologues, who have nothing but constant offence-taking in their lives, started screeching about this, yet another non-issue. In a sauna, however, I'd recommend not bringing up religion and politics, unless you are among (close?) friends and/or family. Also, openly praising Sweden and Russia, i.e., the nations that have been stealing our land and wealth for centuries might also not go down too well. Especially since Finland is _the_ only country on the planet where a small minority (2%?) _still_ forces the vast majority to study a tiny, minuscule dialect of a an insignificant language, only to be able to "serve" the master race. I don't know whether Afrikaans was forcibly fed to _all_ SA populus back in the apartheid days, but 'moomin Swedish' a.k.a. 'coastline Swedish' is still _THE_ only subject that is mandatory in _every_ single school level, from elementary all the way to the university. And there are still plenty of former Russian/SU spies/affiliates, who's identity the police (due to political affiliation) refuses to reveal, _still_ working in high-paying high-ranking government positions. This treasonous behavior to cover up treason does not sit well with us.

    What most people and most Finns themselves get wrong about Finns, is that Finns are not shy. Finns are reserved. Being shy means you are feeling uncomfortable, timid or insecure. Being reserved means that you are slow to reveal your emotions, opinions and your true self. One is constantly anxious, the ladder is more relaxed but has distance you have to get across before you get to know them. If Finns were shy they wouldn't be getting in a sauna butt naked with total strangers. But because Finns are reserved, they are able to do that. They just keep a distance to others in order to respect their boundaries and personal space.
