Great video! I’m actually leaving 8hr shifts to go back to 12hr shifts. 12s can be tough but I experienced way more negative affects working 8s.

I agree. I work 8's at the moment because it works with my family's schedule but I don't really like it. I miss my 12s...better yet the 16 hour shifts (in my opinion).

I will always pick longer but fewer work days a week. I prefer 12-hour shifts. My absolute favorite work schedule is two 16-hour shifts and one 8-hour shift a week. Yes, those 16-hour days are long but it’s only a couple days a week. And your reward is you get 4 FULL days off plus what’s left of your 8-hour day! You honestly can’t beat that! That 8-hour day seems so “short” compared to the 16-hour shifts even though 8-hours is a “normal” work day for a lot of people. Five-day work weeks drive me crazy! It feels like I never have a day off 🤣🤣 ! I can handle a couple long days when I know there are a bunch of days off coming 😊 .

That’s how I feel. I understand that working 12 hours , really thinking about it is a long time but I rather get it over with for extra days off compared to the casual mon-fri schedule cause technically you only get one day off and that’s Saturday because when Sunday comes, you gotta get ready for work the next day and those 5 days especially if u work in the mornings, everyday ur morning is spent at work

What works best for me is even when your switching to night shift still wake up in the morning like your working mornings stay up for 4to5 hours then sleep it saves alot of time.

What do you mean by “fixing,” if you don’t mind me asking? Like recovering from exhaustion/lost time? Or do you mean just re-calibrating to be more in line with “regular” society on your off days?

I agree. 12 hours shifts can be rough depending on the day and what’s going on but for the most part I love it. I barely use up my PTO. I can move my days around especially come vacation time. It’s rare I touch my sick leave and overall it’s a lot more flexible. Not to mention doing OT can be flexible too. Come in early or come in later whichever you’re feeling

One more pro to add there's usually less mandatory overtime where as 8 hours you might get stuck doing double shifts against your will

If I had a choice in my full-time work schedule, my number-1 pick would be 12-hour shifts (4 on/4 off). Most people would say that 12-hour shifts are pretty long (and I may agree with that, at least compared to your typical 9-5 job). But, at least I’m only working half the days. By the time you get through your 4 consecutive work days, your 4 consecutive “off” days may feel like a vacation all its own. You could easily take a weekend getaway without even touching your vacation time!

I think the problem here I might be certain that a 12 hours shift is just too much 10 hours is ok because its overtime rules. Also I don't like people who discourage others that don't work more than 8 to 10 hours and calls them lazy like we don't care we just want a freedom manageable life. For example I know people who for example makes 40$ in California no education for 8 to 10 hours max 5 to 6 days a week max vs 14 to 15$ that works 12 to 16 hours just too brag 6 to 7 days a week? Naw its better to work smarter and getting there of course most of the times you gotta earn it and work hard first and go on sooner to approach achieving comfortable living life type of mindset.

I'm saving 4h only on commutation... I wouldn't be paid for this time and it would be all walking... Not to mention waking up, preparing for next day and so on... Basically I would be tired anyway for 5 days instead of 3...

-Pro: guaranteed longer weekend! -Con: accidental recovery-sleep all weekend! . -Big Pro: Night shift workers can actually schedule appointments/run errands *on days off* or even on their workdays *before shift* instead of using up leave for necessary life stuff -Equally-Big Con: Doing this takes away from recovery-sleep and makes virtually any sleep schedule unsustainable *Also,* if you’re a night-worker, running your errands can only ever be done during “regular” daytime hours - i.e. the middle of the “night” for you. If you haven’t experienced this yet, just imagine yourself on waking up at two in the morning to go to the dentist. Lol

12 hour shifts suck. No matter how you look at it, the bodies circadian rhythm is thrown off by sacrificing working nights. If you have to go in at 5am til 5:30pm, depending how far your commute, you're technically up 14 hours. When you rotate and have to work 5:00pm to 5:30 am, its the same but your circadian rhythm makes it difficult to sleep during the daylight hours. Hence you're up 24 hours when you're on the 5:30 pm shift. Pay close attention to the physicality of the workers. They most of the time look worn out and restless because they are. My opinion 12 hour shifts benefit companies and your productive life gets the sacrifice especially if you're not accumulating sick time because rotating 12 hour shifts will definitely wear you down over a short period of time.

Eat proteins, wholemeal carbs, lot of veggies and fruits. Where possible eat healthy ready meals... Invest in good shoes for marathon runners... Sleep well. During working period think only about work and use all free time for rest. Take care about your feet like princess - massages, soaking and so on... Think about reward! LoooONG WEEKEND :)))
