The bucket that came with the mini guillotine isn't a counterweight for anything. It's just supposed to be a prop bucket that goes in front of/next to where the blade falls. It's supposed to look like a bucket with a head in it.

Actually, that's not quite right. Although you are right and that indeed isn't a trebuchet, it actually is a mangonel. Mangonel and trebuchet are both catapults since it's an umbrella term that encompasses most siege engines built to throw stuff =P
@doc21354
5 жыл бұрын
Backon Lazer I know it's an umbrella term but I'm referring to the specificity that Matthias and Tanner used in calling it a trebuchet I wasn't sure what kind of catapult it was but I knew it wasn't a trebuchet cause I've made trebuchets before to launch flower bombs 😂

@malastaireholland6490

Wow! Same comment as me
8:17 Michael was right to say catapult. TL;DR The main difference is the type of potential energy being transferred to kinetic energy. Catapults use elastic potential energy whereas a trebuchet uses gravitational potential energy. Scientific explanation: A catapult fires a projectile because of tension in the restraining rope being winched around a crankshaft creating elastic potential energy in the rope connecting the top of the frame to the arm. The potential energy is then transferred to kinetic when the release lever is pulled. Trebuchets propel a projectile through the use of a counterweight. The arm is pulled into position by means of a rope and the rope is released. This means the trebuchet uses the mass of the counterweight to determine the distance that the projectile will travel.

8:08 you should definitely try forming the fuse into a circle (as best you can) and then light it. It makes this really cool spinning thing. It’s super fun and super cool to watch.
i am pretty sure a trebuche is a catapult that has a counter weight on it so that one is not a trebuche
@marilynestores6722
5 жыл бұрын
A trebuche is a giant arm with a counter weight on one side and a string/rope and the basket with the projectile on the other, it uses gravity to pull the counter weight down to launch the projectile. While a catapult uses string/rope to pull the arm forwards and launch the projectile.
@itsblack2321
5 жыл бұрын
Catapults can use torsion, weights, and other mechanisms for storing energy. A trebuchet is a catapult, but a catapult isn't necessarily a trebuchet.
The mini guns would make for good props for an appropriately sized action figure, like from Hot Toys.
