I love "Odyssey - Ancient History Documentaries", and I enjoy and admire all the quality content they produce. But...this title is pure clickbait. I'm not stating that as a criticism in this case, because unlike the majority of other clickbait, they actually delivered on the promise. Edit: Yeah...The shroud of Turin is nothing more than an elaborate hoax. That's not at all how a 3D object like a face would be "projected" onto any material it was wrapped in. Nice try though.

A great documentary, worthy of an award winning prize. The cinematography, the vocal narration and the musical score really blend together as stated, an award winning documentary. I've been lucky to see several of these wonders of the world, from Stonehenge on Salisbury Plain to the Pyramids in the Giza Plateau and Machu Picchu, the Incan Citadel high in the Andres Mountains. If you can travel, no matter what your budget is, or your physical limitations are, take an adventure of a life time. There are some much to see on this great big blue marble we live on. But don't believe the garbage that so many people try to push on you, about aliens, Atlantis or a conspiracy by archeologists to silence new ideas. None of those exist. They are a scam by people to get clicks. The scam was started by one guy who wrote a book full of lies. It amazingly sold like hotcakes! So a few people who were also too lazy to be bothered with going to university followed him. They figured why should they spend 10 years getting a PHD before they write books and give talks, when they can just make stuff up as they go, starting right then. And they got rich too, so now everyone is jumping on the bandwagon! KZread, Netflix, and regular tv are all just full of that garbage now, because nobody in America has a conscience anymore. It used to be that nobody would lie on tv. They were too afraid of losing their reputation. But in a world where married presidents of the USA get BJs in the Oval Office from stupid girls who tell everyone at the 1st chance, and where other presidents lie their faces off all day every day, and do many far worse things than that, merely lying on tv about aliens and expecting people to buy it just pales in comparison! If presidents can steal hundreds of millions of tax dollars from the people every month, start violent insurrections, and rape women with impunity, just to name a few things, it seems almost laughable to even care what anyone does on tv. Until you see the heinous lies of Trump and Fucker Carlson that is, and the damage that they do. Oooops! I digressed. But I still think we should all shame the liars as much as possible, every chance we get. Including here and now. At least it might prevent a few of the really gullible ones from believing the garbage. Honestly. How can anyone possibly be dumb enough to believe aliens have been here? Anyone who does should be so embarrassed!

Serious question here, could there have been an ancient sea or river that went from Wales to Salisbury when Stonehenge was constructed? 🤔 Also, if you watch the entire Amine series "The Seven Deadly Sins;" it postulates that Stonehenge was an ancient burial site for druid monks, and that villagers would tend the burial site (If I remember correctly) just the night after burial, to make sure the monk didn't rise from the grave. I haven't watched it in years.

Easter Island was devastated by disease after first contact just like everywhere else. They experienced contact very early in the time of colonialism and the encounters are well documented. After their first contact there is a long Gap and the next recorded contact reports a drastically different situation with the population devastated and reverted to subsistence living whereas before they were providing for themselves with great ease and supported a huge population. It's the same story as every other place after European contact. It wasn't canabalism as is widely reported in error. The tree theory is also widely called into question. Europeans arrived before the 18th century. There was contact before that. Basically this is only telling the very old and euro centric version of the story. I would encourage everyone to watch "The Fall of Civilizations" podcast that did an episode on this subject. It's based on more up to date science.

While it is an interesting video, it is clearly dated as more current information dispels many of these beliefs. As an example, the Sphinx is not 2500 years old as they also give the age of the pyramids. The Sphinx is at least 13,500 yrs and perhaps as much as 30,000 years old. It is now mostly accepted that the pyramids were built far earlier than previously thought. It is also suspected the Egyptians did not build them but they already existed and were used by the Egyptians who came along later. School books need to be updated.

Hmm. Where to start? One. One of the most remarkable things about Stonehenge is something people hardly ever mention, that it is in the middle of a henge theme park. There are several archaeological sites of henges in the area, including henges that are bigger than Stonehenge. But here’s the difference: they’re all wood henges. They have rotted down to dark spots in the in the dirt. Two. Modern historians consider the sea peoples to be symptoms of economic and environmental collapses of the time, not the cause ofit. We know the names of many of the sea peoples, and in some cases, something of their history. The Philistines of the Bible were see peoples, and they attacked Israel from the land, not the sea. Three. The Shroud of Turin is not an impression of a body. If it was draped around the body, and impression taken from that, we would have not just the front of the face, but the sides as well. That would make the impression of a very wide face. This is the impression from a bas relief, not a body. Four. The Book of the Dead was not, per se, a single book. It was a book written specifically for the person to take into the afterlife, and each version was different. The richer the person, the longer his book. Often it was written with the assumption that the owner would not be able to get in to a good after life on his own merits. It was written so he could his way past all the tests. Five. Ancient aliens.

Note when narrators use terms such as 'it is said that', 'some people believe', 'it is thought that', 'it is considered', in their case building. They then go on to build on these suppositions new conclusions and treat those as facts. This is the evidence of yarn spinning verses fact sharing. This is what Mary Beard does in a most beautiful and eloquent manner. This is what deceives and, given the asthetic, will cause the less critical thinkers to rush to the defense of their deceiver.
