Somluck has 300 fights. He has an absurd win rate of 96%. 290 wins and 10 losses. That's even higher then Namsaknoi (95% winrate). All his loses from his 300 fights can be counted on your hands. It's uncertain who is actually better in their prime. Samart is cited as greatest. That's in terms of accomplishment. Somluck could probably go 50-50 with him. Anyman who can beat boonlai the way somluck did . . . Boonlai was a beautiful kicker. Somluck's distance control was perfect. Absolutely perfect. His defense was superb. Perfectly and almost lazily checking all those kicks from boonlai. Funny how I watch this 1 year ago and had no idea who these 2 people were.

When I was a kid I watched a Muay Thai fight on TV of this guy doing very effective side push kicks and dominating the foreigner throughout the fight. I didn't know who that guy was but I thought he was really good. Several years later now that I'm 30 I've been watching Tiger Muay Thai training videos and I was curious to know who the instructors were. One is Samart and upon searching his name I realized that he was one of the greats in Muay Thai that even modern day fighters like Buakaw idolized. Then I stumbled upon a video of Samart fighting against an Irish guy which turned out to be the same fight I've seen when I was a little boy. I was really surprised and amazed. All these years I've been trying to figure out who that person was, only to find out that he is a living legend

Tiger Muay Thai is one of the more famous muay thai gyms in Thailand and is therefore more specialized for tourists, some prefer that within their learning, and that is fine. And all over Thailand there is more autentic gyms if that is what you prefer. But in the end i agree with you, the language barrier doesn't prevent you from getting the message of the art.

When I was young. My grandmother loved to wathch Muay Thai on TV. after lunch time. She had twins who lived next to our house. After lunch I had to run to another grandmother's home to tell her it's Muay Thai time. Invited to my house for watching Muay on TV. with her twins. They sat on their chairs watched Muay with their legs knees or elbow out. Complained about how slow or stupid of the fighters. After Muay finished they always felt tired and asked me to massage their legs and backs. They tought me how to do Thai massage while i was massaging them. When I miss them I will watch Muay thai Clip Video. I miss you.

I started MT at the age of 54 after a 41 yrs experience in other Martial arts like hapkido, Taekwondo and Arnis. I like MT bec of course i am not as flexible for high or high jumped kicks and bec i dont do competitions i can pick the best MT moves for my experience and possibilities. I train 3-4 times a week the different ellbows and knee moves and the best for me from MT is what is the weakest point in most other Martial Arts. How to block serious kicks and whats the next move/counter after the block/leggrab. MT fills these empty space and bec 95 % of all real fights ends on close range the brutal knee and ellbow moves from MT are the best for selfdefense. No hundreds of Dojomoves for the next examination, no playing around. I regret not much earlyer discover MT for me and wast so many time in other, not functional styles. For everyone who want to learn MT: Its never too late, but train smart and listen to your body, have fun but take it serious and accept that you never going to be a big pro fighter when you start over 40. In fact: Ellbows and knees are best weapons for every ager, no need for to kick on the opponents head. And after a short while you will see: Age is just a number.

i found the last bit about the jab-cross-hook to be really enlightening. I have had a tendency to throw too long of a hook. I like how they clarified that all 3 punches should arrive at the same place on the target.

I like that in MT its essential to act AGAINST kicks, in nearly every Martial Art its teached how to kick but when get kicked nearly every Black Belt is just dancing around and dont know what to do. From the first day on they teach to block a punch but there are less moves against kicks. In MT its much different.

It's weird how I hated Muay Thai when I was beaten by one and now I love it as much as Karate. I'd give everything to go and train with any one of these living legends, but Samart would be my choice since my style is closer to his.
