True but one thing is the extra expense of paying for maintenance and repairs, and another thing is having enough for a spare EUC or other vehicle. Some people are fortunate to have many EUCs or other types of electric vehicles.

I live in a tropical rainforest so I gave up trying to keep my stuff out of the rain a long time ago. Luckily most EUCs can handle some rain exposure, and most can be completely weatherproofed with some minor modifications at home
I got flats every 500km aprox, x 5 cheap and heavey duty tubes, high or low pressure. Tubless also flat. But now I cannot get flats because I have a mousse tube. I didn't take wheel apart to install. I'm never ever using tubes or tubless ever again. I won't get a instant blow out infront of bus. Run over nail, no problem. Valve snaps off no problem.
it's great to see you so happy with a topic about what sucks
Hate dealing with ticks on trail rides 😳
I feel like the initial learning curve an obvious one and it may be the biggest reason why EUCs are not more popular.
@Nemonurwingy
Ай бұрын
People love them, though. I’m a middle aged guy, people are fascinated by it. I don’t lie to people, it takes a little bit of work, but my line is that you don’t remember learning to ride a bike. If you have kids, you remember teaching them. They didn’t get it right away, neither did you.
@rossjohnson7916
Ай бұрын
That was what attracted me to EUCs... learning a new skill! You see shows like Everything Electric where e-scooters and e-bikes are available for the public to try. EUCs are nowhere to be seen (most likely due to the learning curve). Maybe the new E20 will change that?
@wuppi
Ай бұрын
Price combined with the learning curve. Bikes are hard to learn too, but cheap, so you usually get to learn it early on regardless of your income.
Sandpaper pedals, how 14' wheels hurt calves, felling like an alien on the streets with everyone looking at you.
I can ride the heck out of my EUC's but trying to adapt those skills to an analog unicycle is really frustrating.
Definitely we must watch for everything: cars, dogs, children, pedestrians, bicyclists, skaters, old people knocking their foreheads… just because we are a NEW KIND of SHAPE to be recognized by peoples’ brains so we are INVISIBLE for people for this reason (especially stressed car drivers). It is weird, but it is true.
Adam, you forgot to mention the problem when you buy a new device (just released on the market) and a constructive defect is detected in it. After some time, the manufacturer eliminates the defect and it is no longer found in subsequent models. There is also a problem when a manufacturer stops selling spare parts for its previously released products. I'm sure you know all this well too 😅
10.1. When all the grocery stores in your town allow PEVs and there is one that favourite store where bikes and e-scooters are banned (but not EUCs, since they don't know what it is), probably because some irresponsible schoolkids have previously made a mess out there, which infuriated the owner. And you have no idea whether they will look angry at you when you enter and walk your EUC or if they won't.

Got my first EUC(Kingsong 16x) 2 weeks ago and just got the last piece(hopefully) of my gear kit, a nice chest/back protector. Ive crashed twice, once on my front and once on my back. Thanks for sharing all this wonderful content for us all to watch.
I am riding a light EUC in a casual cyclist kind of way and never above 25km/h. I don't put on gear, never had a cutout, carry it up and down flights of stairs almost daily and never gotten stopped by an authority, unless a cyclist would have gotten stopped too, even where the letters of the law forbid EUC usage. I also didn't pedal clip or have a spill for many years. In my case, forgetting to charge and flat tires are the only annoyances left on this list. The most frustrating thing to me are cars, and that's the very same when I walk or cycle or drive a car or ride a motorcycle.
1 Pedal clips 2 Cut outs 3 Putting on gear 4 Forgetting to charge 5 Flat tires 6 Waiting for parts or the whole 7 Slipping 8 Stairs inside 9 Broken bearings 10 Forbidden areas
Parts and servicing is the problem here in the UK as shipping can be up to £70. You do like comfortable on that ET Max
I can add 2 more. 1. Forgotting to press kill spin button or not pressing it enough. 2. Another is when you lose your grip on a wheel when pushing and it will hit you on shin and then rotate on ground as possessed with devil.
11. All the boulders on trails and knee high bollards around sidewalks and biking paths in town in Poland that clip your footplates
Nice video! I'm missing a chunk of pedal on my sherman s and as you know they are up pretty high. Hit a bolder hidden by a bush on a trail and went superman ... hahaha good times. Other than that flats and parts waiting time is horrible

6. Parts - oh yeah. Motor malfunction - ETA ~3 weeks just to get it delivered even if I change it myself. Another option for friends - don't make them🐈
12. Or 13. Uphill grades when battery is low. I live in Utah and everything is uphill. Not many EUCers, lots of explaining. Anyways, I plan my trips looking at the grade to make sure I’ll make it up or down the incline on the way home. Not a problem for short trips

ive never cut off but recently got a flat while riding.
I wish a flat tire was rare. In 1500 miles, it happened three times. Then I messed up my wheel during my third change and yeah, still want to ride but man it is so frustrating. Literally looking at the V14 simply because it should be easier to change
Good video. Thank you, Adam. 04:37 - Point 5 - From what I have seen, wheel removals (to e.g. repair flats) tend to be a complex and difficult task, prone to causing collateral damage to wiring, water seals, and etc. Refining the designs to facilitate straightforward removal and reinstallation of EUC wheels and including mechanically-secure, watertight motor wiring disconnect plugs should not be a difficult challenge for competent engineers. Engineering benchmarking opportunities abound in the automotive and aerospace industries. I hope that this is high on the to-do lists for all EUC manufacturers.
very nice. I'll steal this good idea for video.

Wind,car hits you and even if its the drivers fault injuries and broken wheel not covered by insurance,since we can't insure them, etc
Someone explained to me why they cost so much??? I bought an absolutely insane extreme bull k6 for 2700$ but in the euc world that’s not even a high end wheel price. There is less metal,plastic yet drastically more expensive.
I hate gearing up, so I don't, but to be still safe - I usually ride at 20kph. I mean I'd rather go slow than to put all that shit on

What do you guys think about No Gear or just 1 piece (like either helmet or only wrist bands or gloves for example) for slow speeds similar to running (max 20km per hour). I know some people have accidents slower than that, but if one trains how to fall, it would be similar to running fast or slower. I am thinking for example in the city on the bike path or offroad, not really around cars on the street. Comparing to running (no protections are used for running) both in speed and situations (running on the street is dangerous compared to running on the sidewalk or on the trails offroad).
@user-xv5iw5zh4m

Glasses so the bugs don't hit my eyeballs an wristguards for just in case black ice or some other misfortune shit and ride 20kph, zince even if I wont be able to run, the probability if hitting my head against the ground is miniscule. If there was a helmet that was as easy to put on as a pair of glasses - I would wear it, since there is a risk hitting some pole/rock/stump/barrier with the head, and it can be devastating
I keep asking this, sorry) How's ventilation in your nice Klim F3 helmet?

My S22 mainboard fried while I was in the jungle ALONE!!! It took 2hrs for me alone to push dead EUC out of the woods. The only God-blessed thing was that the area barely got the phone signal to call for a rescue.
I seem to be a ninja at the first point... Pedal clipping. Aaaghhhhh not again! It's steep, rutted and rocky around here. More broken ribs 😢
11. Price! We need a good priced wheel that we can easily recommend to newbies. Like a Falcon but less than $999
The tyres should be tubeless because fixing a puncture on a tubeless is dead easy; no need to remove the tyre. Just insert a plug. 2. Why do we not have chargers built into the bulky electric vehicle charging plugs? Then we could charge them up alongside the electric vehicles at the charging stations. (Not everyone has grid powered electricity.) 3) They have battery energy storage. A 12Vdc outlet would be nice, so that I can get full use of the batteries.

cars that dont look for EUC riders, mostly at crosswalks
@Hexagonian

That's true for all micromobility devices, as well as walking. If you're crossing a street, assume every car wants to kill you and wait unless they stop. If no one stops, that means you're either crossing at the wrong spot, or your city has failed you.
Also hollow motor bearings costing 320 euros a pair is nuts.
That little stump on the trail is why I always carry a pocket saw with me. Saw cut the stump closer to the ground for public safety in general. Be proactive in helping others not having a bad day.

My question would be have you had any unexplainable cut offs in last year? There are a few more annoying things like ifnu live in a small town, you must always wave. U have no idea how many ppl been like "I waved and u didn't acknowledge". So I just wave at everyone now. Or when ppl say do a wheely. Or when ur just having a great time riding and ppl try to wave you down. Like sorry but I'm flow right now.
I am not ATGATT. When I go out for off-road shenanigans it is legit ATGATT but if I am riding with the slow group which is also the one which will end a ride (or mid ride) at a pub/restraunt then I go with just motorbike jeans with no leatts on top. It is somewhat of a risk sure, but we only hit 25mph tops and they are still proper motorbike jeans with padded inserts. Also, in summer like now I have pure wrist guards with no finger protection. It's a risk I am willing to take. The fabric won't save my fingers from breaks, just getting battered and cut up if the worst happens. But... I have ferrets so cut up fingers is no biggie for me. And if I wear my full gauntlet style glove things then I WILL end up taking them off during heavy off-road just because of how overheated they get. I think MTGATT is still risk averse enough. You don't always need the full shebang. I never ride with a chest protector for instance. Always a motorbike jacket which has elbows, shoulders and back.
