$700 for a CD is insane! Most I ever sold one for was $130 for 2 Rammstein CD singles & a dvd single in a “box” many years ago..

@Louise Jamie well yes I agree but if you really want something and you know it's a once in a lifetime chance of owning it and you see it listed for sale it's gonna be hard to control the urge not to buy it and then if not you live with the guilt of not buying it!🤔

Nice video man. I guess you already know by now, but the most accurate way to approach the discogs prices, is to see the detailed sales history. If an item sells once very high, it might be because it is autographed, or offers something unique. Also it is a trend, that the first to offer it for sale usually inflates the price. You can usually see what is going on in the description, which is included in the history. If the item has just sold 2 - 3 times, the price range is not accurate and other sites like ebay/popsike, etc might come handy as second reference.

That GROMS just got re-released on vinyl somewhere. It's a good death metal album but I haven't really listened to it all that much. Marty did morph into Betrayal. I like Betrayal much better, especially their album The Passing. Looking forward to the vinyl for that one. Teramaze have several other albums out. That first album is their best. Their next album they went for a newer progressive metal sound. Then they went for a GooGoo Dolls sound on the third. I've heard their more recent albums are better but I haven't heard them. I only have the first two. Schaliach is melodic death metal, not doom. Schaliach was his band previous to joining Extol. I haven't heard it in a long time either. Might have to dig it out. Crimson Thorn GOLD CD EDITION is coming out soon on Retroactive! Sound quality supposedly has been greatly improved. Can't wait to hear it. Ohhhh, nice Razor CD. Don't have that one.

I think the reason some of these the prices jump so high is because someone paid a lot of money at some point. Example Nofx album The Decline first pressing was kind of expensive for awhile than some ass hole way overpaid for a copy and the discogs price went up to over $1,000 because of one person overpaid. Also I love Razor and never heard of that album. I wish I still had my cd collection I know I had rare stuff in it, never thought cds would be so expensive. Thankfully I kept my vinyl

What's crazy is just everyday average stuff gets extremely high prices by resellers when something goes out of print. OUT OF PRINT is what drives the insane prices. New out of print is really high. I recently wanted a cd copy of a REO Speedwagon album from the 70's for the original version of Riding the Storm Out. Yep out of print. A friend got me a great used copy for 50 cents at goodwill or some place like that. It's mint! Take that reseller 🦈 sharks!! 😡😡😡

CDs are getting more expensive or valuable because the record companies do not have their own pressing equipment or warehouses. Their first edition pressings may be the only ones ever pressed. Then you have to stream them. Collectors and fans of a band or album need to jump on them when you find them. I'm glad I 've rarely sold my CDs, LPs, or DVDs. Even cassettes have exploded in value. I have long said that one should own physical media, you support the artist and the company promoting them. Royksopp & Rufus Du Sol have generally pressed their own albums. They take pre orders and then press enough to fill those orders. Within 5 or 10 years, they command $500 or more. Take care of it, it will likely always be there. Change your streaming service and your previous "buys" all go away.. Word to the dedicated collector. - Steven Pettinga, Indianapolis.

It’s all so false though. The modern obsession with ‘vintage’ the fact that a multi-million selling LP like A Hard Days Night now commands absurd prices despite there being 100s of 1000s of copies out there is proof that there’s too many people getting their eyes wiped, because they’re part of the fashion, not seasoned collectors. It’s dreadful. Everything gets Monetised in the end 🙄

if you have a CD that is worth that much MORE than you would be willing to spend on it, sell it for that price... goes for pretty much ANYTHING that doesn't have sentimental value to it, but even more so for CDs because you can rip it to iTunes and burn a copy and play it in your CD player or in your car.

'Rip it to iTunes'? Even better, rip it to a set of lossless files, and play them with an audiophile media player. I always buy (so I have the right to listen) and then rip everything. Freeware apps mean that I can do with my files whatever I want (e.g. play everything Mozart ever wrote in chronological order, or go through every version of Pet Shop Boys 'Heart'), with no need to sell my soul to anyone.

I’ve noticed many of these are from obscure Christian metal or thrash bands. Never knew that genre was heavily in demand. It comes down to supply and demand. These titles didn’t have many pressed and collectors want the music. I agree you won’t find these at your local flea market. Nice video too.

I remember I was embarrassed, I have never paid so much for a second hand CD, but as Christmas approaches, prices are scary, especially in A...N conclusion: you have to move, be educate, speak English, having money is also very important, and if you already have a ... gift for people? (Don de gentes...) to be able to "cheat" the seller...😅

Risky Business Soundtrack used be a few hundred as recent as last year. Looks like there are some cheap ones on eBay now, which is suspicious (bootlegs maybe). Hooverphonic with Orchestra Live (with DVD concert). There is a studio recording that usually goes for around $100, but I have seen the LIVE version on eBay for $2000, but that guy was smoking crack...The LIVE version is better and the one to have. I am certainly no collector of CD's other than my old stash, but why would 1st pressing mean anything with CDs? Collectability only?

there are a lot of factors when it comes to collecting cds and what the collector likes to collect and what he thinks in his mind is collectable, i been doing this for fifty years and i predicted Motowncds would become collectable and they have, over in some cases a hundred dollars on the original Motown label and first pressings, which are very hard to get now. I have them, brought them when prices were low.

I am not sure you understand how discogs works. In terms of low medium high Low is the lowest it ever went for medium is the averaging of prices where you throw out the lowest and highest sales and then average the rest. The high when it is unusually hirer then the average usually means there was something special about that record or cd that was sold. Like it was autographed or some such thing.
