@@rayaaltaleb5741 A major question is “tell us about your project, what were your key findings?”. I think that would definitely be asked. A lot of questions were just clarifications and last question is “what would you have done differently?” You got this!! Prepare a question bank and practice! Good luck!

The algorithm has blessed me. Have to do my thesis defense in a week in order to get my Bachelor's degree. This couldn't have come at a better time.

As someone who experienced this, I would add know the limitations to your study and the potential biases from the methods uswd during data collection to statistical analyses. Why you chose these methods and what were the alternatives you considered but did not use

Now, this I call sound advice! Great stuff, not only for thesis defenses, which most people only do once or twice in a lifetime.

Practice everyday infront of the mirror are the secret of lawyers and other professionals in preparation for the critical defense in trial court and for the thesis and dissertation.

Made a mistake of rushing the slide for our research presentation. We had no preparations whatsoever but thankfully we managed to present it decently. It wasn't a great experience 😭😭 Definitely learned it the hard way.

Yeah on one of my thesis presentations to the department, I had tons of notes on the PowerPoint notes section. The one problem is that the computer I was using didn’t allow me to use presenter mode where I would see my notes and the audience would see only the slides. Luckily, I prepared a lot, and I remembered most of the points and statistics (because I don’t use words on my slides). It went well, but it could’ve gone better! Ha.

As always, attack is the best form of defence. That is, if you can silence your opponent with some smart counter questions, then he will stick to his generic pattern and things go smoothly.

My external examiner told me that he would have asked me more questions if time had permitted. On a few occasions, I was not given time to explain fully the questions asked. As a preparation, I made sure that I had eye contact with the examiners, and that I smiled and was polite. I was not afraid to ask questions for clarification. I was asked by the chairman if I wanted a break halfway into my viva and I politely declined and said that I was enjoying talking to the experts. After the viva, the chairman told me that I was not nervous. What was there to be nervous about, it was my thesis, and I knew backwards what I had written. Also, a mock viva with my supervisors was most helpful.

Tomorrow is my defense day and by the way thank you for tips.

I'm saving this for my thesis defense in 9 months :)
