    Thanks John. Got round most of them yesterday. Both my scuttle hoses were off so I’m glad I did it. I’ve got an XKR so couldn’t locate my throttle cable.

    Thanks for doing all these videos. I have an xk8 in Sweden, there are so few mechanics who can work on the cars and this is really useful when diagnosing issues.

    Good content as always. In the spirit of continuous improvement here is an addition to your XK8 check. You can open the drivers (Passenger for left hand drive) door and through the gap between the wing and body view the level of your your coolant atmospheric recovery tank. You may choose to do away with removing the coolant expansion tank pressure cap to check the coolant level with this check.

    Common sense - pah - do we really need a video of this? I’ve got ten minutes waiting for the wife so I’ll try it anyway. PAS fluid low, coolant low and both rear number plate lights are out! So, yes, I did need the video just to give me the discipline to do the checks. Thanks, John, keep ‘em coming…

    Nice. Should also check: Bottom of under engine tray for traces of fluid leaks. Convertible top operation down and back up, seals and proper rear glass sealing into the soft top.

    Another excellent video. "Classic TTG". Today, I finally got my sagging headlining and A pillar cladding replaced on my 2005 Coupe by Tony at Studio Cars Preston. He did a great job. I thoroughly recommend him. He advertises in both Jaguar World & Jaguar Enthusiast magazines, if anyone is interested. Watching this video reminded me that my Big Cat's MoT is due at the end of the month...!

    Perfect timing to find your channel. Off to look at an aquamarine 1997 XK8 on Monday with a view of buying my first XK8. Just 2 issues a seat stuck in the forward position and a dodgy handbrake. Just hope i can squeeze in it to drive it! No rust though 😁

    Thanks John. I must admit I've not been as thorough as that but I will try to do better! Probably worth adding a check of the front and rear fog lights too, particularly in old Blighty. Not so important in Oz😁

    As always great video and I know you were doing just a quick run through, just thought I would ad IF the brake fluid is getting low DO NOT TOP IT UP unless you have a fluid leak, it means the pads are wearing and will need replacing, also if you keep having to add steering fluid then you probably have a leak. Also if you keep hearing a squeaking noise from the rear of the car make sure you haven't locked the wife in the boot IF you have this will be followed by a lot of moaning and groaning. For us convertible folks as a maintenance item I check the fluid level but more importantly I raise and lower the lid at least once a week. Tip of the day, when applying the hand brake press the button IN whilst pulling the lever up then release the button when it is in the fully up position this will prevent premature failure of the handbrake ratchet.

    Brilliant - another very well presented video….. just one question - when opening the fuel cap, should you hear a rush of air, don’t get it on the XK8 but it can happen; on the wife’s car….

  • @ToTheGarage

    @ToTheGarage

    I get it on the XK8 if the engine has just been turned off but not every time. This isbecause the gas recovery purge valve is sometimes active and using the carbon canister in the front left wing. But its not all the time and its just a little hiss
