I did this also because it IS true, it may not be equal but is true, I thought that was going to be the case. I don't know if I would have gotten it even if they expressed you had to make it compute to 555, or equal to 555. Cleaver though, I like it.

I was thinking something similar for number one. When he asks the prompt he says, “How much do THEY cost?”. This could easily be mistaken as him referring to both the bat and the ball. Kind of misleading if you pay attention to every word he says.

It would have been more correct of them to say "How can you take 1 away from 29 and get 30?" Then their answer is correct (since you are removing an I from the roman numerals)

Question 5 can be answered using calculus. From the limits equation 1/x.. 1/2+1/4+1/8, so 1/2^(2) since the denominator is greater than 1 by some rule that I don't remember, the limit of this approaches 1.

I interpreted it wrong too. I didn't realize you needed ALL 7 numbers either. I put things like: 76+24=100 74+26=100 57+43=100 53+47=100 47+53=100 43+57=100 26+74=100 24+76=100 They used only the numbers 1 to 7 (I assumed not repeating), and a single plus sign. haha

The visual of the socks in the draw has them in 3 rows so as long as you grab from the same row which should be easy, would only require moving 2. No?

One should realize that the reverse of the eight-digit number also works. It took me far longer than 15 seconds to get it, but that was the first thing I noticed.

How is the first one not 49 and 1 that technically fits

I thought of #9 totally differently. I thought they meant you literally only have one plus sign you can use and you can pick some or all of the digits 1-7 but you can't use a specific digit more than once. This leaves you with only 2 solutions: 74+26=100 and 76+24=100

29-1 = 30 can be solved by simply applying the command to subtract. Subtract says to change the sign of the subtrahend and proceed as in addition. Therefore "subtract 29 - 1" is the same as "add 29 + 1" which is of course 30. This is the way all computers work and is difficult for many people who were not taught the proper meaning of "subtract" in school

There is an error in the word problem for number 8; you said their age (singular) is prime. That implies that their ages are added together to get one age. Changes the equation quiet considerably.

For the question with numbers 1 through 7, there are way more than 2 solutions, unless I'm missing something.For example: 13+24+56+7=100 13+24+57+6=100 14+23+56+7=100 14+23+57+6=100, etc.

For the last one there is a much easier way to do it. You do opposite operation and add the 1 to 29

Number 3, 23421314 is also right. Between, 1 and 1 is number 3; between 2 and 2 are the numbers 3,4; between 3 and 3 are the numbers 4,2,1 and between the fours there are the numbers 2131

They just poorly phrased several of these questions. 5 should be "write a mathematical operation using 4 9's such that it equals 100". 9 should have been "Using each number from 1-7 once and only plus signs, how many ways can you get an equation equal to 100. And 10 should have been "How can you take 1 away from 29 to get 30?"

Shouldn’t the socks question be re-phrased to how do you guarantee to have at least one matched pair? How many does he remove to get one pair sounds more like a question of possibility, because you could get one matched pair with only 2 socks removed from the drawer.

With question 8 the brothers can also be 3, 5 and 7 and it will work fine
