10+ Little-Known Facts Prove the Titanic Had No Chance

Ойын-сауық

Everyone knows the story of the "unsinkable" ship, Titanic. But do we know it well enough? It was the largest and most luxurious cruise liner of its day, measuring more than 882 feet long from prow to stern and weighing more than 46,000 tons. It boasted state-of-the-art technology and still didn't escape the tragedy.
What if the Titanic happened today? Could the passengers just climb the iceberg? How did some people manage to survive? Is there a way to see the famous shipwreck nowadays? These are just some of the questions you'll get answers to in this video.

believe it or not, one of the biggest factors that contributed to the sinking of the titanic was that the crew tried to turn the ship at full speed, whichmade the ship hit the side of the iceberg and flood a large amount of compartments. if the titanic had struck the iceberg head on, only the forward two compartments would have been flooded

It was common during that time to not have life boats for every passenger to be on at the same time. Life boats were there for ferrying passengers from the sinking ship to the rescue ship, not having every passenger on them at the same time.

Not only that but Titanic still went the extra mile and added four collapsible lifeboats they weren't required to. The whole aesthetic argument is little more than myth. Lifeboats were considered an absolute last resort because of how unsafe they actually were.

@@Cassandra_Solidor well the point remains- the senseless brand positioning as an unsinkable ship. Turns out it was the biggest lie one can sell to people. 5 compartments filled with water and it sank, is that the excuse ? leave alone the number of life boats, the ones which were there were not filled up as well.

@@AndyHappyGuy I have to disagree on that. There's been many other researchers and historians besides bright side that have confirmed the fire was true. Titanic would have sunk the same regardless of the damage caused by the fire.

so many distorted facts here: the captain of the Titanic was well seasoned and certainly not reckless. Going with speed through an icefield was common practice then and the Titanic was not overspeeding. Then the lifeboats: there were more places on the lifeboats than required by law at that time. So no fault here with the White Star Line. Then the command women and children first: this is sad, that Officer Lighttoller understood it as women and children only, so that some lifeboats left while not yet filled. And climbing on the iceberg? The Titanic was not stopped by the iceberg, so it was probably already a mile or so away from the sinking ship, so there was not even a chance of getting there. And finally: the engines were stopped but not in reverse, as this would take too much time, longer than they had.

Common life boat usage of the day was it was expected other ships would arrive and lifeboats were to ferry to the other ship, not be a replacement ship. Had the Californian responded, more people could have possibly been saved if they had responded when the titanic first indicated distress. Not everyone but at least more than was saved.

There was a certain amount of lifeboats any ship had to have, (which was 18), But since the ships at the time had been getting larger and larger, the titanic had the required amount of lifeboats, but because it was so big and the laws hadn't been changed, it didn't have enough. And it was the Owner of White Star Line who made the decision about the boats onboard

0:30 actually, 60 boats would've caused more deaths. See, it took the crew (and Thomas Andrews) an hour to find out if the Titanic was sinking. And at the time, everybody set up every single main lifeboat before any passengers were boarded. And because it took them 5 whole minutes to do just that, they only had an hour to get everybody off, and even still the last lifeboat to be lowered correctly only dropped 2 inches from the davids. The 2 collapsables had to float off the deck themselves because of how fast the ship was sinking at that point, similar to how it showed in A Night To Remember.

  • @alessandraiannino7242

@Motorsport Unofficial The Britannic had much less people aboard than the Titanic though, and they started evacuating them immediately because the damage was evident. On the Titanic the evacuation was slow at the beginning, and the last two lifeboats were not even launched properly because there was no time left (so one ended up partially submerged, and the other one was capsized, with people standing on top of it). That's what I meant - considering how slow they were at the beginning, if there had been more lifeboats they wouldn't have had enough time to launch all of them.

Also, it was the fire that delayed the sinking. Because the coal in that area had all been moved to the port side of the ship, opposite the fire, she didn't capsize to starboard, as she likely would have had she been balanced. Instead, the watertight bulkheads were able to do their job and delay complete flooding of the ship, giving everyone much more time to get into the boats. Coal fires were not uncommon at sea during that time, so there was no reason to not set sail with a fire smoldering.

Um, Carpathia wasn't the first one to respond to titanic's distress calls, it's cape race, a lighthouse somewhere in New Finland Canada, in terms of ship nearest to Titanic, SS California has its marconni room off by the orders of the captain of that ship, the coal fire has been depunked already if I remember, titanic was cruising 24 knots when it hitted the iceberg. SS Frankfurt was the first to response and she received the distress call and apparently it confused the ship as it was too far from Titanic, SS California thought that titanic was celebrating during that night, there have been fights during the distress call if I remember cause titanic was called unsinkable and it only has been five days. Nevertheless some of this are true and facts

First of all, the RMS Mauritania travelled much faster than the Olympic class liners, so saying that the White Star Line wanted to set records for the fastest trans-Atlantic crossing is not true. Second, the Titanic was going at ~20 knots when she hit the iceberg, and after she hit, travelled further away from it. The currents would have pushed the iceberg further away from the Titanic in those almost 3 hours after she hit. Saying that people could have tried to climb onto the iceberg is unrealistic in this situation.

Finally someone who gets it! Half of what Bright Side says are hoaxes! The fire and explosion theories have been disproven countless times by historians and scientists, yet bright side still insists that they are true. You can never trust bright side. They are milking a disaster for clickbait.

You do know that half of what Bright Side says are hoaxes right? The fire and explosion theories have been disproven countless times by historians and scientists, yet bright side still insists that they are true. You can never trust bright side. They are milking a disaster for clickbait. Don't be early, you are just giving Bright Side to be more favoured by the KZread algorithm.
